PS5 specs revealed. Up to 10.2 Tflops.

that's bullshit tho, i mean yeah if you play at low-medium details maybe...
even a 2080ti suffer with a lot of heavy games at 4k60 and that gpu is 13++ tf...
thinking that 8 are enough is pure daydreaming.
my 2070super is around 9-10 tf and i can't play almost anything at 4k60 frame.
The one X can play some games at 4k 60, I mean if you can't just go in anc click the high graphics settings in the configuration menu a 2070 will not work for you.. or even better, customize your settings and there will barely be any difference.

But it's very possible that there will be many games that target 4k 30

I mean, look at what they get out of the base PS4 after all this time. we can get 4k60 with improved graphics and interaction next gen on this console.

It's a bigger difference than the current gen consoles. Right now you're not seeing many native 4K games on the PS4 Pro, while it's somewhat common on the X. The gap is even bigger between the new systems.
Not sure what you were watching but the gap is not bigger at all from what Cerny revealed. I don't think you have any understanding lol

They/Them A-10 Warthog
2080ti? Google says that's a 13tf gpu.

Never mind that. The latest speculation the past week or two increased to 14 and even 15 tf.
I stopped going into the thread because of how hostile they were when I said the ps5 wouldn't match a 2080 super and would be closer to a 2070 than a 2080ti. That was months ago, and I was right once again.

Yes, by the silence.
With MS touting VRS as loudly as they have RT, if Sony had VRS they would have said so. Till this point Sony has never mentioned VRS, and they would of if they had it. Its a big thing.

Stop spreading FUD. Rdna 2 has VRS.

Obsession with tflops is so dumb, consoles are so optimized the idea that titles would be allowed to perform with frame rate drops in this day and age is goofy. Mark my words, this will be no big deal. I'm liking their SSD and expandable storage~
days gone is literally the last big playstation exclusive and the framerate dance more than a professional ballerina even on pro and even after numerous patches, so yeah...
rdr2 was one of the last big third party game (surely the most important) and framerate both on pro and base ps4 is not rock solid at all, with pro version being blurry as fuck, so yeah 2: the revenge.
guess what version has the more stable framerate aaaaaaand better resolution? it's the one who run with more teraflop under his ass...

realistically i think most of the games are gonna be 4k30 frame except for halo, gears, forza, gt, frenetic fps and driving-sports games.
but sex it's gonna have a fair advantage in all multy games.

I think everyone should wait and see the difference in performance because they were very different approaches between the two consoles. I bet 3rd party games will still run almost exactly the same, not like between X and Pro and I guarantee with that PS5 SSD, the Playstation Exclusives will be much more advanced and be able to push the boundaries a lot more. I think with the PS5 SSD, the series X will actually hold it back with 3rd party titles being double the speed of Series X SSD. It does really make a difference with how they develop games. The 12.1 v 10.3 Teraflop debate is ridiculous. It doesn't necessarily mean the Series X is so much more powerful.

OK! XSX is now going to hold back PS5, despite it having 2-3 more TF, a faster CPU, and generally faster RAM. Whatever makes you sleep easier at night!

And while it's likely PS5 has VRS, it's not been confirmed.

PS5 is "based on" RDNA2, which doesn't mean it will include every feature used by all RDNA 2 products. For example, MS's (guaranteed) 12 TF RDNA 2 implementation uses a MS patented VRS implementation.

And Sony will still have the best looking exclusives

Of course Sony could make a machine with better specs, but it's all about the price tag

$400 vs $500 makes all the difference

Best looking walking simulators! I like the direction Microsoft is going with games like Bleeding Edge. I personally don't care for the character designs, but it's very different compared to the dark, somber tone of EVERY fucking Sony game.

I'm not sure how substantial it will end up being in practice, so I'll wait until I see them in action to make my own mind, "fair" may not be enough to sway me... depending on what you mean by "fair".

I hope Sony will have more 60fps first party games, I'm tired of 30fps games.

also, we don't know how they will be priced.

eh, maybe for lighter titles, surely not for their open world or heavy games like gow2 or tlou3.
you forget that peole want this fucking rtx in their games and that shit suck performance like a prostitute suck a dick shaped lollipop...

OK let's see the hardware comparison:

CPU = I would say even, Xbox clocked just 8% higher
GPU = Xbox better, more CU, locked frequencies ( about 25% more power)
RAM = Playstation better (no bottleneck in bandwidth, same size)
SSD = Playstion MUCH better (129% faster)
Expansion = Playstation better (No proprietary hardware required)
Audio= I guess PS5 will be better, but I'm not sure

What did I miss?
For the expansion there's no SSD with such speed..and at low price...
The Xbox version match the internal specs

I don't know wich one Is better

There is no need for Sony to confirm it when AMD has already confirmed it. This is like saying PS5 is rdna 1 because Sony didn’t confirm it before today.

PS5 doesn't. PS 5 is CUSTOM RDNA 2. After how wrong you have been this entire period, you may want to sit this out.

What was I wrong about again? Looks to me PS5 isn’t 9.2TF like you were claiming. Since you are claiming PS5 doesn’t have VRS, show proof.

OK! You misunderstood my post, The X is obviously a more powerful console but not by much. If you know anything about how games are developed, it depends how they use the hardware. When you look at the GPU, CPU and RAM specs on paper, yes the X is more powerful. But in practice it's very different and that SSD is going to play a major role in how they develop games. If they develop a 3rd party title with the SSD for the Series X in mind and not utilise the additional speed of the PS5 then in theory, it could hold the PS5 back in some aspects. I don't think you realise how important the SSD is regarding performance and how games are developed around it.

I’m happy with what I saw. It wasn’t quite the event thought it would be, I mistakenly thought it might be something like the original PS4 reveal. That being said, some of the tech sounds interesting. I won’t judge the build of the PS5 until I see some games being played, but even then why should I care when all I’m playing is Resogun lately 😂

Don’t we see frame rate drops all the time today?
Well i guess i was implying release titles~

The more I'm looking at the ps5 release video and stuff the more convinced i am that they've moved the performance goalposts from sheer numbers to efficiency... Of course, being a Sony fan, being a vita owner, no matter how great they make it sound the proof will be in the pudding~ their dreaded "bottleneck"might be the decidedly last-gen ssd capacity~

Using 10.3 as baseline. XSX is exactly 18% more TFs at 12.155. Or 1.855 TFs more which is 18% of 10.3.
12.155/10.3 = x1.18009 more TFs

Using 12.155 as baseline. PS5 is ~15.26% less TFs at 10.3.
10.3/12.155 = x0.8473 more TFs... or 1 - 0.8473 = x0.1526 less TFs

This is the best case boosted perf difference.. I don't think we know the min performance TFs of PS5. He mentioned 10% which would be 1.03 TFs less down to 9.27.

He didn't say 10% drop. He said a few percent drop in frequency yields 10% power drop.

Also the ps5 is likely 20% faster in other parts of the gpu than an alternate 10.3 TF ps5 with more CUs running at 1.8Ghz
No VRS for PS5, and those thinking it will be a $100 cheaper are in for another rude shock.
The money it takes to get a SSD to run that quick is more than the extra die space to fit an extra 16CUs on it, not to mention the extra cooling cost to stop a 2.2ghz GPU from catching fire.

Funny how you know the cost of cooling and ssd. Sony gets better deals as they're expected to get greater volume, wouldn't surprise me if the bom cost of the ssd is similar or lower than series X. As for the cooling from the rumors it's just a few bucks. 16 more CUs would have cost significantly more as chips have cost per transistor.

The Xbox version match the internal specs

I don't know wich one Is better

That will change in time. And you won't be forced to buy a proprietary expansion card

Also the Xbox "expansion card" matches the internal specs only because the specs are way slower......

I agree that in the long run this approach is better. I find it slightly concerning that the outlook isn’t so great for launch expansion options tho

Xbox 360 -----> ps4 --------> Xsex? Probably

So far the really fast SSD is only promises, I want to see something that shows it can act like ram and load details on the fly etc. Right now it feels a little like "power of the cloud secret sauce" if I'm being honest.

so they gimped their console for a fucking BC? i can't believe this...

I’m not saying that’s what happened. I’m saying that’s how it looks to me right now. Sony needs a smooth transition from PS4 to PS5 and backwards compatibility is a huge part of that.

I think Sony couldve dropped that feature, put out a 12tf console (not a 9tf console that sometimes hits 10.28), shown HZD 2 and gotten a smooth transition notwithstanding.

I think Sony got caught looking over their shoulder a bit too much here.

if this is the case then why microsoft have far better BC for now and still a 12tf machine...

Did I claim PS5 was 9.2?
I said 36-40 Cu's, 9.2-10.24tflops. I was right.
Go watch DFs video. They say the same thing about VRS.
Sony haven't said their console doesn't have a cheese grater in it either, so I guess it must have unless Sony say it doesn't.
There is a reason you were so wrong about PS5, its because your logic abilities are flawed.

I don't know what the hell's going on, but Sony looks weak for the first time in 25 years. After a console that sold 100 million, they shouldn't have come like that. Not cool, not fucking cool. Screw the console design. I see a Sony that is completely embedded on exclusive games. They're going to lose the multiplatform base this time. Xbox, which could not even produce high quality games, was re-incorporated into the competition thanks to Sony.

Yeah, sounds like it's going to be great for 1st party titles, but just a less powerful box for 3rd party multiplatform stuff. Since I'll be playing those on PC anyway, I personally appreciate this approach, but I could see how it would be less attractive to people who just want one video game box and want it to be as powerful as possible and don't really care about exclusives.

Its hard to tell so soon. Sony is banking with their current fan base and the plethora of first party games to stay on top. I can't argue that reasoning because it has worked well for Nintendo. On the multiplatform , I agree. PS5 could be the weakest compared to the X on that front. Unless devs pull their parity crap but with the variable clock speed and possible heat issues, I say possible, because it's not out in the real world on paper the cooling seems great. We will see what Games Sony and MS will have this next gen.

It’s funny how Matt the mod from era said don’t look into the GitHub info. What a joke
Of course he'll say that. Tons of Sony fans there.

I bet he didn't even get reliable info in the first place anyway. He's just making shit up.

Now if he really did know PS5 was going to be 10tf, of course he'll say ignore GH and PS5 is stronger.

If any insider with honest news about 10tf outed Sony with 10tf proof (like those Oberon 9.2tf data sheets from last year, which everyone wrote off because they didn't want to believe year old data from AMD dirt diggers posting tweets), that forum and Xbox/PS Speculation thread would be a shit show for the past 12 months.

At least now with 10tf outed, it's been a shit show for only 8 hours.

From what I’m hearing it’s because MS has software based backwards compatibility. It’s not tied to the hardware and can just automatically improve the performance of older games without any additional coding.

Sony’s backward compatibility appears to require specific hardware support and that may have lead to some sacrifices.

it seems that M is doing all the right choices with their console.

Crazy thing is that apparently they stuck with 36 CUs to make BC easier, and yet they can t even get that right. Meanwhile MS is adding HDR, FPS and resolution at will to games going back to OG Xbox.
I just don't know how Sony screwed this up so badly.
