The Mandalorian |OT| I Have Spoken

Think that would play into the Mandalorians being the last of their kind.
But he's not.

If you want a really good battle strategy, surround only the front half of your few enemies stuck in a building, mock the fact that they are attempting an escape plan, and then give them until nightfall to devise a better plan. And then awkwardly stand there after giving a monologue for the hours to come :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I liked this show, but it was really fucking stupid. Watching The Witcher right after it only cements how bad the writing was in this. Fun show, don't get me wrong, but so incredibly dumb.

Maybe, but he's far from being the last one.

Or was it implied that they were all killed by Space Gus Fring's troops in the last episode, except for Mando and the armorer?
I got the impression that they were a small tribe trying to keep themselves afloat whilst remaining underground and not drawing too much attention.
Kinda like they are small and vulnerable to a degree until they can reclaim money and group numbers.

Yeah, exactly, they couldn't even go outside more than one at a time (...because their armors are all identical, are they? But I digress).
But speaking of "last one", I can't focus and remember if they killed all that little tribe except the armorer and Mando.

Yea I can't really remember either.
I remember lots of armor on the floor and the blacksmith made it out ok I think.

I'm a bit disappointed, especially after the hype. No interesting characters until episode 6. Too PG-13. Almost no new world building. What's up with the magic bounty trackers?

Without the Star Wars name I would have dropped this after two or three episodes.. At least the last three were a lot better than the previous five, maybe there is hope for this show yet.

I really like the artwork for the credits. That stuff is great.

watch thru Episode 4 today. this show is pretty good. def in the pocket of 70's or 80's sci fi serial tv. not everything is super great but it's fine. the effects are pretty nice. feels much more coherent than the mainline films. better creature work as well.

the soundtrack for sure is a Western rip.

however i watched A Fistful of Dollars the other day, and Clint Eastwood's character was beyond badass, he was doing action movie things constantly, just a total awesome guy. Mando is ok and fine but a little bit of a goober. maybe that is the PG-13, but Fistful wasn't all that graphic either. like the first thing he does is walk into town and makes friends with the Gravedigger. he walks by and the guy is making coffins and he says "We'll need three more" as he steps up to take on the bad gang. then later on he escapes town, tortured and beaten and near death, by hiding in a coffin, and having his friend sneak him out, peeking out from under the lid watching as the bad guys set fire to the town. he goes to a cave and starts making gear like he's Ash from Evil Dead, getting ready to go back and kick some major ass. just through and through total awesomeness. i don't think modern writers have it in them to nail that level of coolness tbh. so anytime folks lean on "It's a Western like the Man With No Name!" i'm like.... yeah.... it kind looks like it would be...

watched the last 4 episodes yesterday. it was pretty good! all in all quite enjoyable. it ends up far better than where it starts.

the episode with Bill Burr was a lot of fun. his humor was really well done and in universe, the joke about the Gungan was pretty good. i liked that crew of bad guys. there was a shot or two of the robot sitting in the spaceship watching the monitor, i was like, this is really all i need. just the ambience of this right here. clunky 80s style robot. retro spaceship radar. they really nailed the look in the show. production design is top notch throughout. unfortunately the casting, acting, pacing, etc. is just not there. the red devil guy looked off to me, and some of the actors were a little distracting. Amy Sedaris ruled tho! music isn't always the best, and the music in SW was always top notch. you really can't skimp out on good music, even Roger Corman knows this. for various reasons i would give it a C overall. some episodes felt 5 mins too long given the length. it's fine for a tv show.

despite the high budget looks, it still manages to feel like a low budget tv show at times. for instance the Bill Burr ep, they are running through that same hallway. which is weird cos you see they have the giant LED screen and all this tech, yet they are still running through the same hallway. heh ok. the Waititi final episode was ok, but the comedy did rub me the wrong way a little. felt too close to Robot Chicken. i love Robot Chicken. if you want to do a whole crazy Robot Chicken then go for it. but putting that at the start of your dramatic serious episode, eh, maybe not the best idea. tbh the more i think about him directing a SW film the less i like the idea. dark saber looked very cool tho. a black lightsaber? well done.

Why do people keep calling "young yoda" young Yoda?
As clones already exist, surely, it could not be him?

BABY YODA.

I think the only name we officially know is "The Child", but fuck that name. Baby Yoda sounds much better, even if almost everyone knows it's not, in fact, Yoda as a baby (OR IS IT MORTIS).

I like Dawson, glad she’s joined the cast. Feel like I haven’t seen her since Clerks 2

Next OT gotta be titled “This Is The Way,” imo
She was in the Netflix Daredevil series. I suppose she is a good fit for Ahsoka Tano. Depends on how Ahsoka has turned out after all those years. Will she be jaded and rogue like Saw Gerrera, something like hermit Ben Kenobi or defeated Luke Skywalker?

she's a great actor but the intersectional activists are going nuts over her. would be a tremendous shame if they cancel her.

Latest reports are that someone accidentally let Rian Johnson onto the Mandalorian set and before anyone could stop him he'd written and directed an entire episode. The whole season had to be cancelled, just to be on the safe side.

That era thread is quite something. Some idiot in there posts a twitter post Carano liked that highlights how she's been bullied, putting bullied in quotes and brushing it off like it's nothing, and if you read the posts it's just relentless "you transphopic bitch" drivel. These people are lost.

In other news, why the fuck do Disney+ launch in Europe today with only TWO episodes of The Mandalorian? Do they want us to pirate it?
