Probably shouldn't say this at a time where Nintendo fans are losing their sanity due to lack of Direct.
Nonsense.....

Honestly the gaming section has been a drag to go through as of late. Too much console wars and trolling for my taste.

Thank God Nintendo isn't involved with that anymore.

It'll be our turn in 2022 or thereabouts. lol

Most of us will just be excited that Nintendo is rumored to be putting out a new hybrid capable of ______, but a few crazies will be out there telling everyone that it's secretly more powerful than a PS5 (at a given resolution or something). Threatened, a Sony fanboy will retaliate by saying the leaked video looks like a first-year PS3 game, maybe. Several other someones will say power doesn't matter, it's all about the games. The usual suspects will chime in to say Nintendo games are all kiddy trash and that they get an unfair boost to their scores because nostalgia or money or something. Etc. etc.

Then the cycle will continue anew. lol The nice thing is it's always just a few insecure manchildren and the odd legitimately besotted fanboy who participate in the feces fight. Most of the forum stays pretty reasonable and kind no matter which console/company they prefer.

I paid good money for this Dynex!
Eh, being a manchild about video games is fun. Especially at the moment when there's not much else to do besides being a bit of a clown while under quarantine. A bit of stupidity is fun once in a while.

My Pro Controller gave me a low battery message just as I turned on my Switch, got in a couple of matches where I barely hit the other guy LOL. Smash is a cruel game man.

I was so excited for smash when it came out knowing I hate fighting games but I let hype overtake me. I think I’ve played it twice and have still bought both fighter passes.

I love the game! I managed to become somewhat competent, I played a lot and even studied some pros and I can hold my own. The game is so much fun because it always feels like you're getting better, it leads to some legendary matches against people who are on your level.

However, playing a bit drunk and a few months away from it made me feel like I sucked ass at it. That's my problem with mainly online games, they take continuing dedication to not be awful at them lol.

This is easily the game I have beat more times than any other, and I'll probably pick it up again, lol.

Easily my favorite narrative Star Wars game. I haven't given Fallen Order a shot yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't change that. Academy is just the right mix of arcade and narrative, linearity and freedom, with a nice mix of varied missions.

Someone needs to rip it off wholesale and drop it into a new IP, something with knights and dragons for all I care..

Play Animal Crossing.
I’m currently playing Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney and after that moving to Dual Destinies, I’m planning to play every Ace Attorney I can get my hands on. I recently became a fan of the series and quickly became my favourite franchise from Capcom.

Ace Attorney is the one currently saving me from tech borefest.

On what system did you play?

Have you played Ace Attorney Investigations?

Played 1st Trilogy on my Switch and playing Apollo Justice on my 3DS.

Not yet, I’m planning to. It just too bad they haven’t localized the sequel.
You could play the fan translated version (Gyakuten Kenji 2) on modded ds/3ds, or maybe on Drastic emulator (2x textures) on android, fully translated.

Dai Gyakuten 1 patch had been released last year for android and 3ds version. The 2nd is otw.

Imo any western AA fans pretty much got all their base covered already thanks to the community efforts.

my issue here is I only have one 3DS and don't want to hack/modded it, I'm really hoping one day Capcom just localize both Dai Gyakuten 1&2 and Invastigation 2 to west.

PC/Android DS emulators can handle Investigations 2 pretty easily nowadays. The fan translation is amazing and it’s one of my favorite games in the series now, definitely think about it once you get to that point.

If they could pull it off technically, RE2 and (presumably) RE3 would be such a joy to have on this platform. RE2 is flat-out one of the best Resident Evil games ever.

I just don’t know, though. There’s no Capcom game on Switch I’m aware of that isn’t an old/classic game, and they’ve been really great with support on those, which makes me think there’s some kind of issue with getting their technology on the Switch, or their desire to do so.

Is anyone else finding all the PS5 threads kinda humorous? I've noticed a lot of the uh-choice words PS5 devs are using to describe the new console. They remind me of statements that were used to describe the Wii U in the fact that its architecture and tool set were revolutionary and incredibly modern. What else? Oh, it's superior in ways that haven't been touted and really easy to develop for.

Of course, it is a really powerful console. I just think it's funny how times have changed such that Playstation is now the piece of hardware not quite on par with the other box.

Didn't they do a streaming version of RE7 on the Switch in Japan? I feel like if it was possible to get RE Engine running acceptably well on the Switch they would've done RE7 properly.

Interesting that there's Switch code references in RE3 though.

Capcom's efforts seemed low imo, and i'm not calling them lazy but rather they didn't invest / believe in those ports from the very beginning.

Fun Fact: Monster Hunter World is based on MT Framework, same engine of Revelations 2 and Mega Man 11 which are on Switch and they run well.

With some compromise on visual quality it would work, but Capcom never thought about making World a portable experience. (well nowadays with the recent announcement of the mobile game, it looks like they have no plans for a future Switch MH at all)

Have to think that they will make some kind of announcement soon, even if it's a push back because of the impacts of the pandemic around the world. I imagine Switch is just about sold out everywhere, and I wouldn't be shocked if Nintendo thought to push everything back until supply can catch up.

That would suck. I feel like it's time to get some new stuff.

Foxconn is back in almost full production, cause they have to make the new iPhones for the end of the year, so that problem should be fixed relatively soon.

Capcom has, indeed, been a very odd duck this generation. Nintendo listened to them and heeded their advice on the system's memory, and Capcom moved forward and put Monster Hunter World on every other platform but Switch (basically). One would have expected that the increased memory would have allowed for some modern ports of Capcom's games.

It's actually pretty familiar territory for them.

N64 > PS1
Xbox, GameCube > PS2
Xbox 360 > PS3 (except for exclusives, where it lept ahead)
Xbox One X > PS4 Pro

The base PS4 is really the only time that they had a console tech leader for that long. Even that was lightly criticized as being a bit underwhelming compared to the jump the previous generation took -- it just so happened that Microsoft screwed up... everything, and it was enough.

There's definitely some Wii U overtones to the whole situation though. I think it'll be much, much more successful, both in sales and a piece of hardware, but yeah.

It'll be interesting to see how all this plays out.

On a side note, one of the smartest things about the Switch, imo, is Nintendo insulating themselves from all this by shifting their console launches out of sync with the other two. Sony, Microsoft, and their fans are fighting like cats and dogs, while Nintendo sits back with a system in it's prime, raking in ridiculous amounts of money and unprecedented fan goodwill.

When it comes time for Switch 2, they'll again be launching when things have quieted down on the PS/Xbox front, and have the stage all to themselves, again.

It's a really good strategy for a company more about games and unique hardware features, than specs that can be dated.

I really hope so. I think that Switch has amazing potential as a product line. If all they did was upgrade hardware with some feature improvements (ie. better joysticks, improved D pad, better bluetooth signal) I would expect Switch 2 to be very successful.

But I know that the last iterative hardware thing they did was the Wii U, and I didn't find that to be simply iterative improvement because that screen controller was an expensive addition.

Seriously. I don't mind big new ideas, but Nintendo has a good thing going and should stick to it.

The last time they had a good thing going (cheap, controller everyone outside of forum trolls loved, small and beautiful), they threw it all away... because reasons.

I still think a Wii 2 with an additional Pro controller packed in and a Wii U-like visual leap, while keeping all the advantages (maybe taking motion control forward a bit?), would have been a big success. Entire lasting brands have been built on less success than what was achieved with the Wii.

They may all run on the same engine, but MHW is a completely different beast compared to the other two. Porting a game over isn't as simple as tweaking a few visual settings.
