If you liked Legend of Grimrock then it should be straight up your alley.

It's kind of difficult for me to explain but it's not as obtuse as the Grimlock games for a first person dungeon crawler. But it's still pretty damn tough, it's a good first person dungeon crawler and it looks nice.
I haven't played the Switch version, but I tried it on XB1 and it was pretty fun. Reminded me of Legend of Grimrock.
Thanks guys. I did really like Grimrock. Interesting.

Array of new levels? I didn't see that.

Fucking awesome news day.

Seriously. Any single one of these games announced would make my day.

And we might be getting all of them?

Never thought I’d use this unironically:

Yeah, I liked Odyssey, but it's a very unfocused game. Having so many stars to collect makes them feel so much less special, and it killed any interest I might've had in 100%ing the game. 3D World, on the other hand? I did everything and loved the whole damn thing. Same with Galaxy 1 when I replayed it back like 5 years ago. I'm much more of a fan of that tight structure.

The fact that Paper Mario is coming up in all this makes me wonder if Paper Mario and/or The Thousand Year Door are in the cards for this.

To me, Odyssey and 3D World are just very, very different games, neither worse nor better than the other.

Depending on what you like in gaming, the corresponding game will be your favorite. They both represent Mario at its peak, and are obscenely polished, imaginative, and joyful.

I’ll buy all the Mario games again for the Switch. I’ve, at least, really enjoyed all the Mario games I’ve played. I mean, I hope for remasters of all the 3D Mario games with Odyssey-level graphics, but I’m not that picky. I don’t care if they’re remasters, remakes, or ports. The result for me is the same: I’m going to buy them.

Even if Paper Mario is going back to 1 & 2's style, I can't get myself that excited for it given the fact that they have completely butchered the artstyle to something that looks to belong in a children's pre school show . That, plus I don't think IS has good enough writers anymore to capture the magic of those games. Especially TTYD.

With "remastered" versions, is it possible we may get a Switch version of Mario 64 with the original controls, extra content, and Odyssey level graphics?

Please say yes, Nintendo. I love you. ❤

I would love to see one of the visual remake companies, like Grezzo, tackle this.

Super Mario 64 will always be beautiful to me (not sure if it's nostalgia, or the flat shaded, low-polygon look and art seeming special and unique itself), but seeing a modern version of the game and all the worlds could be so much fun.

Are these 3D Mario games really going to be released as a single "All Stars 2" pack? Selling them one by one at $60 a pop seems much much Nintendo's style, even Galaxy 1 & 2. They would probably be able to get away with it too in terms of sales.

I wonder how much they will improve Mario 64? I played Galaxy for the first time just a couple of years back and that one would be fine with just a resolution bump. Mario 64 on the other hand could do with something like this:

The animation and camera work are... wanting (kind of to be expected with an indie effort like this), but that looks amazing.

I really hope it’s something like this, but at the same time, I’d be okay with Super Mario 64 at a good resolution and framerate, especially as a part of the (possible) wider package.

Nintendo has realised that consistently providing quality Mario games has led to the series becoming a little stale and tired. So, it has decided to unearth hidden gems from Mario's past to balance things out and liven things up. Those old enough to recall these 'games' will be thrilled by the immersive educational entertainment while younger players will marvel at an alternate Mario history that might have been.

It's impressive for what is, presumably, a one man effort. I'm sure a Nintendo team could do even better. If 64 really is released as part of a collection, then a remake is probably beyond its scope and budget, but an up-resed version of the original at 60 fps looks perfectly fine imo (even if it hasn't aged nearly as well as its SNES counterparts):

They already kind of have the early tools to remake Super Mario 64 in modern graphics. Odyssey is already very similar to 64 plus the post game already has Peach's Castle assets.

I could see them releasing a modified Odyssey as a 64 remake.

It will be interesting to see what kind of reception Sunshine gets. I know that many expecting "M64 2" were disappointed back in the day.

I think people are used to big, aimless games these days, so Sunshine should seem like a much tighter game than it did back in 2002. The biggest issue that game had was the camera, though, so if they fix that.... yeah, should be a good one to return to.
