I was late but I just watched DBZ super broly movie.. I hope this is the right place to post my impressions...

hope to get some feedback from others.

anyways I super enjoyed it.. the beginning was awesome showing bardock and goku's mom and the saiyan planet.

and love the relationship between broly and cheelai!! it was so wonderful to watch...
Possibly my favorite Dragon Ball movie. It was actually well written and this version of Broly gives the original a run for his money. OG Broly has more poise with his regal garments, but the Super version has a lot more personality.

And of course, the action is bonkers, I could hardly believe what I was watching during the first time.

I didn't mind Demon Slayer but the manga has kind of.... ended poorly IMO. As brap brap said Black Clover is OKAY to watch Asta gets more bearable after the first few episodes.

I watched the movie with friends who were all fans of the anime. I read the manga for DBZ and DB and thought they great

But Broly movie wasn’t for me. I can definitely see where it would be a huge moment for those who grew up with the anime and watched everything. All the anime all the movies. Then this movie would be enjoyable but I don’t know much about the DB universe like some, so I just watched it and hoped for it to be amazing on its own merits; and not relying on me be a DB super fan for years and years. Even the fight didn’t really impress me, I thought there was going to be a much more intense battle, but they were all three just sizing each other up and getting a feel for themselves. It was only something just past a warm up for them all

But they set it up for another meeting with Broly, and I think he’ll be an ally to Goku and Vegeta next time, so that means there can be an extremely powerful villain of group even and the next movie can be potentially great by anyone’s standards; long time fan or not

They should include more moments where Goku is showing his masculine righteous side. He sort of acts like a mom sometimes lol and it was never a part of his character in the original manga. In the anime they make him overly effeminate and his jokes never seem to hit either, wish they’d put more thought into HIS character at the very least. I mean come on, this is Goku, probably the strongest warrior in anime/manga who fights strictly with his own talent and prowess, energy. The rest have powers and such

Also, an interesting speculative topic regarding Marineford for One Piece fans:

Which Mugiwara would be the greatest help to Luffy in the Paramount War, excluding Zoro and Sanji?

Watched ToG ep 1. I'm kind of skeptical as I couldn't get past the first chapter of the comic way back when, due to what felt like poor writing (if memory serves). Right now it seems like generic MC with the Mary Sue trait will climb a tower and face a challenge on each level. Very basic fiction premise.

Aside from that, they made some interesting choices with the art style and music (same dude from Made in Abyss). It seems like they're trying to go for a more prestigious aesthetic. Although the animation is questionable a little too often for what is the first episode.

Anyone here likes Naoki Urasawa's works?

I read around 12-14 volumes of 20th Century Boys, it was amazing. I fell behind on buying the volumes and when I caught back up in buying the rest, I had forgotten too much to just continue where I had left off. I do plan on going back to it sometime.

I saw the first 15 episodes of the Monster anime. It was really solid. But sadly the first DVD set must have sold poorly as Viz never released anymore after that so I never got to see the rest. I do know they're re-releasing the manga in omnibuses so I'll have to pick those up sometime.

I'm currently at chapter 472 and I've more or less forgotten they are climbing a tower. One could say it's a coming of age story for Bam (which he does have to do, the hard way) but that's only partially true. He's not the only one to get the spotlight. ToG is a world of many characters coming together and parting. Friends and enemies. Perhaps that does sound generic. Many stories start in the same place. The question is, where does it go from there?

This thirteen episode cour should cover the first arc, which consists of 78 chapters. Essentially I'd call this season "The prologue". If a person isn't hooked by the end of this season then I definitely say to drop it.

Tower of God - Episode 1

I like the art style. It takes the roughness of S.I.U.'s early art and turns it into something cool. Animation seemed a bit choppy in some places, hopefully they manage to pull it off when it really counts. They breezed through six chapters. While I miss some of the cut dialogue, I can live with cuts. Following shounen stretching, they could have made The Floor of Tests into the full episode. Definitely looking forward to more.

Edit: May as well switch to the best girl of the season.

Just read it a while ago. Feels amazing to be caught up with One Piece. Been chipping away since 2015

I can see why they are so blown away. Not only is he
a Warlord, he’s one with the Sea. He can guide a ship like it’s second nature as seen in Whole Cake. Increases the SH crew’s chances of survival enormously. I haven’t been this excited since Chopper and Franky joined the crew

-Learned under a legendary Pirate
-Captain of an incredibly capable Pirate Crew
-Holds his own against Emperor of the Sea Big Mom and has intel on her and her crew
-Knows the seas better than anyone
-Any devil fruit users in the crew falling off ship into the water are essentially safe; Jinbe can easily save their lives. But it’s not like Sanji, Zoro, sometimes even Nami haven’t done an incredible job at that themselves. Still, Jinbe is another safety net for those devil fruit users
-Forms competent plans, has guided Luffy several times already in their brief partnership. He has excellent strategy

CANNOT WAIT going forward! This is truly a magnificent official joining the crew moment. Best since Franky hands down. I seriously can’t wait to see how he operates alongside the crew from here on now that he can focus solely on one crew, one absolute aim

Luffy still has to add one more crew member at least though. He stated he at least wants 10 if I recall correctly

Any guesses as to who might be next? I really would love to see

Bartolomeo become the next official Straw Hat pirate

That guy is truly funny as fuck. And a badass the same. Kind of a rare combo to achieve. I say add him but maybe others would have someone else in mind

She fits in incredibly well. I like Carrot a lot. The only thing that can be annoying is how high and shrill her voice can get. But other than that, I too would hope that Luffy invites her along. She’s a great team player and has a great amount of courage; joining the Sanji Retrieval Team despite not being invited. Maybe she wanted to back Pedro and SH, maybe she wanted to see Sanji safe, maybe she wanted to see the world just like Oden. That was a pretty cool moment though, seeing a surprise addition to the squad. I would definitely welcome her. At her best, she’s proven to completely overwhelm the Big Mom Pirates and she hasn’t even yet mastered the ability of Sulong yet

The only thing is her voice, and she definitely would need some training or perhaps a weapon made by Usopp or Franky to make it a little more interesting

She would probably love to see to the crew that Pedro believed in and gave his life for. To see them realize their dreams one day, and for Luffy to become Pirate King

my favorite Straw Hat Pirates (Official Members) ranked

1. Luffy
2. Franky
3. Roronoa Zoro
4. Usopp
5. Tony Tony Chopper
6. Jinbe
7. Sanji
8. Brook
9. Nico Robin
10. Nami

I really hope we get to see Nico Robin have an amazing fight soon. She hasn’t had a tough fight since Thriller Bark

Just got into the Captain Black arc of OP. Still not digging it completely but I'll keep at it for another while.

Started reading the manga as well btw. I'm a bit confused as to why the anime OP, unlike the manga, does not start with kid Ruffy but instead you get his background by bits and pieces through flashbacks. I hate this.
The first 50 episodes are kind of a slow build, looking back. Although, I liked them probably more than most people will. But for me, I think as soon as you get to Whiskey Peak, that’s when things start to really pick up. Fuck, that arc is so damn perfect. It’s such a short arc too, but man do I love that one. Things start to snowball from there into the build up of the first major saga you’ll see in One Piece, which is pretty awesome overall. But imo, the further you go, the better it gets essentially

Hey !

I want to get back to reading manga and I don't have the space to go all physical again.
So what are the good app for reading manga in Europe (Specifically France but I don't mind reading in english) ?

I basically want to read big ones (One piece, Berserk, Boruto...)

Free or subscription. I don't mind.

For One Piece I was using readonepiece.com or something
For other ones, maybe MangaRock app will do it for you. It might have those

Thanks !

I quickly downloaded MangaRock yesterday evening and saw One piece on it. I'll see if it's convenient to use or not.
I'll check Onepiecereader.

Although, Berserk is something I hear you might want to buy the entire collection. I hear it’s an incredible manga

As a SoulsBorne fanatic, it's my "to do" list for years now. Can't wait to read it :)

Yeah I plan on buying the Berserk volumes and reading it as well, one day

On MangaRock I never saw One Piece for some reason. That’s why I always went to the other option to read, but if it’s there for you, then that’s perfect. The manga in tandem with watching the anime is something to behold. The creator of One Piece, Echiiro Oda, outdoes himself often. Just when you think you saw a legendary arc that can’t be topped, he creates something even crazier eventually

I don’t recommend to read berserk until it’s finished. Otherwise you’ll be suffering like a lot of us berserk fans do. :(( there’s a great OP dedicated to berserk created by Mista Mista

Yes it shocked me to learn that it's not finish. I didn't follow the publication history but as when I was teenage (15 years ago), it was an already old manga, I assume it was finish by now.

Anyway I'll start with One piece, it should occupy me for a time ( 1000 chapters ! Crazy !)

Haha. A close friend of mine is crazy about One piece and told me the exact same thing. So I am pretty hyped.
Actually I've already read until the Ener (god of thunder, if I remember correctly) arc when I was a teenage, but I don't remember everything so I'll restart from Chapter 1.

I use mangadex to read stuff on the tablet. There are also official free manga sites but I hate their layout.
