From yesterday to today the profiles for Gran Turismo Sport in GranTurismo.com site surpassed 10 million.
Below the full data.

  • Total GTS profiles: 10,034,395
  • Total Beta only profiles: 568,948 * Beta profiles turn in GTS profiles after play the final game
  • Total status 254 profiles: 1
  • Total status 255 profiles: 12

  • Missing profiles: 36,645 * profiles that where removed due unknown reasons

That is early than my estimates due the incredible boost in profiles in the last weeks.
The avg. profiles created per day in 2019 was around 7k.
Early 2020 until Feb it was maintaining the 6-7k average.

But in March we have a boost to 13k profiles created per day.
And in the last week the average was 20k profiles created per day.

That is near triple the pace of players.

Of course that is probably due Coranavirus that put players inside their homes and so they choose to play games increasing the sales and players in several games including Gran Turismo Sport.

Are you serious??? GT Sport is no Gran Turismo at all. AT ALL.

Gran Turismo series is all about career (different licenses), content and simulation, even to the minuscule detail.

A PROPER Gran Turismo would be GT6. GT6 had over 1000 cars and more than 30 circuits, a great career mode, and pushed the PS3 to its limits. Compare that to GT Sport that only has 324 cars and no career mode.

Forza 6 and 7 are the only ones that could compare to a proper GT, and even then they fall short on the car variety (although they do have a good career mode). GT Sport pales when compared to those 2 Forzas and it's a f*cking joke compared to a proper GT.

Congratz on achieving 10mln sales... oh wait. So basically PD is hiding actual numbers much like they did with GT6 until GTS released.

After GT6 they removed completely sales from their site which is pretty telling. Hopefully Kaz will get fired (doubtful) and someone who still wants to make games takes over.

Well it is the very best Gran Turismo PD ever created for me.

So GT is not about career only.
Actually there is no better career than Sport Mode.

PD still report sales milestones.

On PD site.
The last milestone was 80 million sold-thought in 2018.
Probably (now I'm guessing) the next one will be when they reach 90 million sold-thought.

The change in report happened some years ago when they moved from Shipment reports to Sold-thought reports.

some people just really like an online esports focused racer. I’m not one of them, but I get it that for them it’s a great game. I would argue it’s not a GT game but there is no convincing them.

Hopefully PS5 brings both for each kind of racing game fan.

GTS is great. I played it for nearly 100 hours now. They've massively improved their product since its terrible launch by adding tons of content, so it's a deserved success. But I totally agree its career mode is still lacking. It's certainly no GT5/GT6, even though in their cases, there was too much stuff for their own good.

I really want a next entry that reconciles both demands, a need for a solid esport-friendly online mode and a need for a solid single-player RPG-like experience. That would turn out great, because the racing experience, as well as the graphics, are top notch as is.
