US government is going to send every household $1k+ in the next two weeks

75k single/150k joint or less gets the full amount then like $50 per thousand less up to 100k/200k who get nothing. Plus a bonus $500 per child. If you filed taxes in 18/19 and had the money direct deposited it’ll appear automagically eventually. If not, well if you want it you’ll figure it out.
Good look, I did have direct deposit and filed my taxes, so if what you’re saying is true then I guess I just have to wait it out? When did this bill pass? Every article was like March 17-19 when I tried to find the answers

Yeah, that sounds about right, Friday before last if I’m not mistaken. The goal was like within 3 weeks the payments were to start rolling out.

Any update on a general time frame we can expect this?

Would it be rash to say this month, for those with their information on file and Direct Deposit?

Next month. Maybe. Remember this is all being handled by the IRS.

Yeah.

saw article saying possibly this week or next week for direct deposits, but it’s the IRS. Probably May like originally expected.

I really wish the IRS would release the simplified tax returns so I can file.

Getting fucking tired of this since I could really use that $1200.

The poorest people always get screwed in the end and I'm just too annoyed and pissed at everything going on both in my personal life and with the world right now.
Looks like you don't need to worry about filing, actually. Intuit has info and registration for folks in your situation:

"If you’re not required to file taxes and don’t receive Social Security benefits, use our free Stimulus Registration for non-tax filers to give the IRS your up-to-date mailing address and direct deposit banking info."

Dude.

Thank you SO fucking much for actually helping me rather than put me down.

I just finished submitting all my info and keeping my fingers crossed.

You sir (and somebody else here that has been a huge help) are awesome.

Are they giving you guys these checks every two weeks or is it just a one time deal? That’s fuck all if so

1200 for one month so far for the stimulus checks.

Unemployment is insane though. You get an additional $600 every two weeks plus your normal unemployment up to July 31.

That’s pretty good. What percentage of your normal pay do you receive through unemployment there.? What’s the max?

I guess this belongs here as well...

I imagine the details of determining exactly who qualifies as "essential" for the purposes of that payment will get really ugly, but in general, I like the idea, assuming they don't pack the bill with a bunch of bullshit pork.

Crazy as hell if it comes to fruition. If it goes through I’ll undoubtedly qualify (transportation) but I wonder who in my company would qualify for it as ~75% of staff is WFH during this. Seems ripe for abuse and/or a ridiculous amount of red tape right alongside fuckery from Congress. Gonna be interesting to watch this develop.

I'm considered essential since my job is directly related to people in the food, medical, Transportation and freight industries

I think the people who are actually OUT and working like us would be considered essential since we literally ARE the ones putting our lives on the line to make a living. Not the WFH folks.

The Small Businesses have to apply for the money in the current stimulus bill as well...

That's for the business owners, though. I personally don't trust most companies to fairly distribute the funds from this proposal to the people who qualify.

Hmm... Well, it IS a Democrat proposal... Doubt it'll pass as is. Probably get watered down by the time it gets to Trump.

There's got to be a way for the government to identify essential workers. I just think direct payments would be a lot better if feasible. I can imagine way too many situations of companies pocketing a lot of the funds and fucking their employees (firing them in between applying for the support and actually receiving it, etc.).

The Democrat proposal is dumb. So they want to tax everyone to give a reward to people working a dangerous job. Is the stimulus about helping people in a bind or is it just another giveaway program?

So you're against paying people a bit more when their hours are reduced which makes paying bills harder and having to go out to work because they have no other choice? During this pandemic?

WOW! Must be nice in your ivory tower.

The people referenced in this bill are health care workers, mostly targeted at retention and recruitment. Nothing at all in this for jobs outside of health care which is deffinately not in a 'reduced hours' scenario.

The second stimulus bill is the one that addresses that.

My job is now dangerous because of this pandemic.

Oh? So what's this then? From the article:

hazard pay would be afforded over a period of time to those deemed essential, including employees in health care, drug stores, grocery stores, sanitation workers, truck drivers, transportation workers and all federal employees with frontline positions, such as Postal Service workers.

Then ...understand more better?

Where in my post did I say people whose hours or pay has been cut shouldn't get help? I even implied the exact opposite of that by asking if it was about helping people in a bind. I simply said we shouldn't tax people to give to other people who have dangerous jobs.

You clearly don't care about the principles of it because you want to take advantage of giveaway programs. Just be honest about it, why don't you?

Which of those are having their hours cut?

If they are, then by definition they are not all that essential.

I've noted my situation many times on here. My hours being cut because our customers (the people who rely on our products) aren't ordering as much as they used to before the pandemic. My check tomorrow will be the smallest it's ever been, sub-$600. I have bills, food and a kid to provide for. So, yes, I'd like some help! Not all of us have incredibly great pay.

My job is having our hours cut because we finish faster than normal because we are suppliers to customers who service the doctors, nurses, food workers, transportation workers, safety workers, truck drivers, etc. And those suppliers aren't ordering as much of our product as before because there's less demand because many people have either been laid off or are sick or otherwise unable to work their jobs.

Better believe I don't have a high paying job either. Sounds like you might deserve some assistance, not because of your dangerous job, but because of the reduced pay.

Would you have been making more on unemployment though, if your job was furloughed because it was too dangerous?

Based on what they've said, and living in GA, it'd only be maybe $100-200 more per check. I'm not entirely sure. I just know this whole situation sucks!

If things don't get better soon, I might be out of a job by summer.

If you have time available to do it, might be time to look elsewhere. Trucking is booming at the moment. My brother got laid off from his restaurant job because of the virus and he's been applying for some logistics jobs. Good luck friend.

So is anyone seeing their Trumpbucks yet? I think they said they were starting to send them out today.

Rolling out to poorest people first and then to those with more hypothetical money which means many people won't get anything until months from now.

some articles kept saying direct deposits could be sent today, but Mnuchin said yesterday it will begin next week. The early speculation was like May or longer anyways.

Yeah the last I had read (and I haven't been looking that hard, so I have no idea) was that direct deposit people would get theirs really quickly, and the people who needed paper checks could be waiting a while. Then I just had something in my head about it starting on the 9th. I guess not.

Yea I'm not voting for them just to get this!
It's only Biden now since Bernie dropped ou

When I did mine yesterday I gave my account and routing for direct deposit but since I just filed and while the submission was approved, I have to wait and see if I'm eligible. So mine might not be until May IF I get it and hopefully not longer.

I think most people with direct deposit wil get it next week.

This says April 15.

This includes people on SSDI and SSI to get a check as well shortly after.

Is there a way to check if the IRS has approved you?

As mentioned I submitted my filing or whatever since I normally make too little to file.

Anyways TurboTax said my submission was aporoved by the IRS but the next step is for the IRS to determine eligibility.

How do I check up on that? TurboTax doesn't seem to tell you how and Goggle-fu or IRS.gov doesn't seem to show anything but I could have sworn last week I saw something about checking status.
