Whats Your Worst Controller Ever?

What are you people doing to your controllers for this to happen? I still have my original 2 from years ago. I think the operator is more to blame here.

The worst controllers are the old ones that look like phones and have a disc for movement, absolutely awful.
I actually quite liked and enjoyed my Pong rotating disc controllers :messenger_relieved:

Yea that's because they were supposed to be used a certain way and clicked with the inside middle of your index finger. I couldn't get used to it at all. Thankfully they changed it back to normal again.
Well I did not have a manual to use... what I can say is that I even put the controller on one hand and tried to push the button to see if it was a faulty button... I managed to
Make it works but I thought how the hell I will
Make it work while playing with my fingers.

It is something near impossible to pass in QA lol

BTW I did not play most of weird controller people are posting in this thread... I only used the big three controller in each generation... the XB1 original controller was really the first that I thought it was unusable due the faulty bumpers.

Its definitely the controller because my current controller is fine. It has an orange light which only turns off when the battery dies.

Basically you put it on charge, the light turns orange and stays orange even if the cable is removed.

Doesnt sync with or without cable on ps4. Never turns blue.

Works fine on pc with cable attached. Light obviously orange.

Using a genuine ps4 cable. Really weird.
Well that's the thing. Because you're saying it works completely fine with PC, is very weird. Controller's completely ok there with the same cable, controller and port. There's something not going well with PS4. If it's the controller then should have the same problems with PC as well. Have you tried the obvious stuff like completely shutting down the PS4 and reconnecting/syncing the controller? Maybe through the settings?

Also, what if when that controller was connected to the PC, it did something to it that wouldn't let it connect to anything else but that PC :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Do you remember when the issue started? If it started right after connecting it to your PC then there's the culprit. It's all trial and error.

Tried resetting the controller several times. Didn't work. Blue lights flashing.

Issue started randomly.

I hate the Xbox One controller. I desperately miss the 360 controller. I accidentally hit the triggers when I mean to press the bumper button ALL THE TIME!
It really bummed me out to see the Series X controller is basically the same thing.

Really?

Only way someone can do that is if they don't know how to properly hold the controller.

Dual shock 4. Went through 4 or 5 already and the new one is already fucking up with the analog sticks. Playing FF 7 Remake and the sticks just randomly decide to rotate my camera around during combat until I move it back to its place. Seriously, fucking ridiculous piece of trash. Sony fix your fucking shit controller. Here is hoping Dualsense won't fuck with me.

Xbox One controller for life though. Never had issues. Switch pro controller never had issues. Gamecube never had issues. DS or DS3 or PS2 never had issues. But DS4 can suck it.

How dare you besmirch the Duke’s good name? Real answer is the Atari Jaguar controller.

the xbox 360 controller is really good but the protrusion in the back nearly ruined it for me making the controller uncomfortable to hold ..
other then that all of controllers i used are good .. ps1-2-3-4-snes

No question, the DS4

Cheap low-quality build, stupid battery draining lightbar, ridiculous non-swappable 4 hour battery with an equally ridiculous 3ft charger cable and I hated the symmetrical sticks.

I never had a Dreamcast, but I have to admit, that looks even worse. How do you even hold that thing?
Wat

DualShock 4. A piece of shit touchpad that serves no purpose except being one giant button, share and options buttons that are a pain to press because of how low profile they are, and a light bar that only serves to waste your battery and summon passing ships.

This piece of shit from the past.....Specturm joystick

The most flimsy ass piece of shit ever made
i actually think each stick was tested before it was boxed to make sure there was a rattle or piece snapped off inside
after about a couple of hours of playtime it goes whiskey dick floppy and becomes a doorstop or device to throw at your friend when he puts cheatcodes on his player

Some of the takes here a strange, the First Xbox controller was fine for me as i have big hands and I actually liked it, preffered the S version though

Most Official controllers are good aside from imo the Gamecube controller, its awful for most games, the A button for me breaks on about 3/5 GC controllers I have and the ridges on the C Stick's housing make it is you cannot have full 360 controls for the camera. The only plus I'd give it is the Triggers, but that has made it so newer consoles cannot emulate the games properly (for example Mario Sunshine and MGS Twin Snakes would be hard to play on Switch now)

Seconded by the Wiimote & Nunchuck, but at least that had a Classic controller for some games that worked well and tbh the Wii's gimmick was all about this combo anyway

Build quality of the ds4 controllers never have I gone through so many controllers. It's not even as if use them very often either as I primary game on PC with an xbox one controller and only use them for ps exclusives.

I've got no problem layout anything like that I've just been very unlucky with them. I really hope this isn't problem with the duelsense.

This post confuses me, as your lack of clarification means that your "3" worst is actually quite a few more than 3:
  1. Wii Pointer?
  2. Wii Nunchuck?
  3. Wii Classic?
  4. Wii U Gamepad?
  5. Wii U Pro?
  6. Switch Joycon?
  7. Switch Pro?
  8. Gamecube Wired?
  9. Gamecube Wavebird?
  10. Xbox Duke?
  11. Xbox Controller S?
Care to elaborate? (And I may have missed some, I have refused to buy anything Nintendo since the Gamecube).

Definitely the PS3 controller. Coming from the 360 playing shooters felt awful for one. The DS4 was a massive improvement. Hopefully that continues with DualSense, just hope the build quality is better.

Overall, the base controller that came with the Wii/Wii U/Switch consoles meaning that remote control crap from Wii, the tablet for Wii U and the JoyCons for Switch. All fucking horrible. The Pro controller is actually good and is what should be included in their consoles.

Gamecube base controller. Simply hated the setup of it, button placement, button shapes, etc. It was horrible. Both the Xbox Duke and S Controller were bad. Had to use a PS2 controller with an adapter for a while until I just gave up.

Reason I put Wii/WiiU/Switch all tied for #1 is because they were and are all shitty gimmicks instead of being just a regular basic controller. Gamecube and Xbox had regular controllers but they were simply bad but at least they weren't a gimmick.

To be fair to Dreamcast, dual thumbsticks wasn’t standard until the OG Xbox was it?

Answer to the question, any controller with dualshock in the name. I find the thumbstickplacement uncomfortable.

Sony introduced dual thumbsticks first.

Mandella effect

You clearly didn't play the PS1 enough if you think they were just there for 'rumble'.

You do realize Sony ripped off the SNES controller when they were working on the SNES PlayStation with Nintendo, right?

Nintendo's SNES controllers didn't have thumbsticks. Nintendo added a single stick and Sony went on to add a second one. There is always going to be a first to do something but that doesn't negate the improvements made by others afterwards.

The controllers that I would say weren't my favorite are:
  • Xbox 360 controller
  • Dreamcast controller
They weren't that bad though. Still workable. I can adapt easily.

I was disappointed that the Dreamcast dropped the 6 face buttons and the Sega style direction button. Loved the system but was always let down by those changes.

I wasn't referring to Dual Shock. I was talking about the SNES controller being the basis for the original PSX controller given the work Sony did with Nintendo on the SNES PlayStation that got cancelled and then became the Sony PlayStation. Design concepts for it show heavy influence from the SNES controller being evolved into it.

1st place-The N64 for sure. The analog stick was cool but the c buttons were to small the z button was bad and it was awkward to hold.

2nd place is the joy cons for switch. The buttons are small but that's not the main issue for me. The controller was designed so bad with all the drift issues. I lost 2 already

3 The jaguar controller. Why just why.

Not hating on Nintendo either. They just make crappy controllers BUT I to this day love the Gamecube controller. I wish the big A button surrounded by other buttons was standard. All of thier other controllers are just not good compard to the competition.

The Dreamcast has one of my favorite controllers of all time.
Worst is probably the N64... I remember buying and mainly using a madcatz 3rd party controller that had a more traditional shape.

RetroBit sell an officially licensed Saturn controller. Mine broke after a week of use. I’m not the only one it’s happened to.

Just a friendly reminder how fucking shit the joycons are from nintendo.

Bought two sets. Two left sticks got the drift.

The "pro" controller has an absolutr sheit dpad.

Only thing that comes close is the dualshock 3.

3 out of 4 died. Absolute wank.

Dualshock 4 .. 3 out of 5 dead charging ports.

This crappy "racing" controller I had for the n64. As far as non third party stuff, my least favorite is probably the "duke" xbox controller.

I bought this as my Atari 2600's second controller. When I got a Megadrive a few years later I still had it and used it as its second controller until we could afford a proper one (was only about 12 at the time).

Don't exactly have fond memories of it of playing games that required three buttons as standard. My brother always used to hog the MD controller when we played EA Hockey and I was stuck with the 'zipstick'. If I recall correctly I lost the speed burst function. Games regularly ended up about 15-2 to him :messenger_pouting:

In fairness it was built like a tank. Because I used to throw it at the floor, wall, etc mid way through my regular hidings.

The Atari Jaguar controller, that thing was a monstrosity.

All the hot takes saying the DS4, ok then.

I used to have a free gamestop ps3 controller i got with the points. this was the worst controller i've ever used, every button was mushy, the d-pad was worse than the og 360 d-pad. the rubber on the analogs was straight outta china, and would begin to tear with barely any use.
