This will make me get a PS5 at launch, otherwise I shall wait for a PS5 Pro.
None the less I am quite hyped for the next event. :messenger_peace:

They're going to show like a corner of the console aren't they, like a partial reveal.

I was just gonna ask, what "non essential" details could they withhold other than price and design

The virtual event could be held on June 3, though some people also cautioned that plans have been in flux and that the date may change. Other PlayStation 5 events may follow in the coming weeks and months, and Sony is not expected to reveal every essential detail on the console during its first presentation.

I am guessing we definitely won't get price, but good chance we get the actual design, right?

still not showing the console huh...

Now i wonder if this thing even makes 2020 and the rumors about issues are true....

I wouldnt be surprised.

Or it could be read as not unloading all your bullets in one single day but instead stretch out the info in a drip feed fashion to dominate the news cycle over a larger period of time. The objective being to keep mindshare as fresh as possible leading to launch. It's also more adaptable to a competitors limelight move. Keeping Redmond sweating and second guessing is a good idea in my book.

If they unload everything on June and release 5 months from now they'll leave too much on the table for MS to take advantage of. E3 is no more, and neither Sony or MS are playing by those old established rules. New times we living in.

The way Sony deals with marketing they may announce it with 2 days notice like the TLoU2 stream and the stream will be the biggest thing ever. It's a nice competitive position to be when people are this thirsty.

But I don't care what the box looks like (it's not like Series X has a killer design anyway) I want those companies to show good games at last! Bring it on!

The PlayStation 5 is just months away from its holiday 2020 launch, but we still don’t know everything about the device. That’s going to change soon. Sony is planning a PS5 event for June 3, according to sources familiar with the company’s plans. Bloomberg is separately corroborating that date.

It’s important to note that this is only the current plan. The company is trying to lock down its promotional efforts for the PS5, but it also knows it must remain flexible during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

While the June 3 reveal should provide the best look yet at the PS5, don’t expect Sony to give every detail about its next-gen system. The company could withhold price and release timing for another date. The price for the PS5 is still especially subject to fluctuations. Sony wants to launch at a competitive price tag, but it also doesn’t want to take a loss on hardware.

Sony also doesn’t need to go to deep on any games it may show on June 3. The company is planning followup events. This includes a State of Play that will focus on both next- and current-gen games.
That State of Play has a tentative schedule of early August. Again, this could shift drastically depending on a number of factors.

So then what will Sony show off next week? Expect it to focus on what is possible in next-gen games with the PlayStation 5. The company seems aware of the backlash that Microsoft faced for its first Xbox 20/20 event. Fans were unhappy with the lack of gameplay at that presentation. In response, Sony wants to rely on PS5 games that are actually running on real hardware.

Ok, first of all, who CARES what the box looks like? That's about the 123rd most important thing.

Second, IF Sony was lying about the reveal, not showing what the box looks like wouldn't indicate this. They know what it looks like and I'm sure have plenty of models they could have shown a long time ago if that was what their marketing team wanted to do.
