Just curious, why do you consider Naruto your favorite of all time? I really want to know. Mainly because I aim to make Naruto my next major endeavor in anime/manga, as well as Berserk ( I may wait until it's finished though) and for some reason I have severe doubt about Naruto. I am an unbelievably huge fan of One Piece. And I just wonder if Naruto will be powerful enough to impress me? Is it as deadly as they say? How would you compare it to the severity of Hunter X Hunter if you've seen it? As in the fights, what's at stake in certain arcs

I just want to be sure that the anime/manga are of unbelievable quality. Like after watching it, I will be inspired for life and have witnessed a must see work essentially
I'd say Naruto is certainly more deadly than One Piece.

Hunter-X-Hunter has several characters dying too, but it doesn't really feel as impactful. Naruto does this a bit better, by even dedicating an opening to the character in question afterwards and in general gives you a bit more time to connect to the characters.

Hunter-X-Hunter has a bit better pacing (except Chimera Ant Arc). Naruto has better combat. Even though both animes often conclude in "talking is better than killing", at least in Naruto you still have deadly battles in between. While Hunter-X-Hunter is just lots of build-up and then maybe a half an episode long fight.

I have a friend that might start binging One Piece. Not sure how long he’ll take but he seems like he’s almost ready for it. I’ve talked to him over the years about One Piece and now he might be ready to give it a go

The only thing I am thinking about, is if I should advise him to read Skypiea arc instead of watch it? When and if the time comes. I think it was really good. But was it great? I actually think it was barely teetering on being great. It’s the only arc that didn’t necessarily impress me to the point where I could talk about it for years. I think it had its moments, but it also is the weakest arc among the sagas I think. Maybe the manga is better for this arc? Anybody read it? Because I’ve only watched it (Skypiea arc / saga)

Will your friend even notice? Skypiea has a bad rep on the internet, but someone who doesn't know this may not dislike it. I remember watching the filler arc back in the day, the one with the dragons, and it didn't bother me at all.
Stone Ocean...how much longer must we wait
My guess is 2021, possibly spring or summer. I've been rewatching parts 1 to 3 and it's amazing how much the anime has covered. Just one more part before Steel Ball Run... the hype will be through the roof.

I startet to watch Monster and I am at Episode 8 now, while there are some interesting scenes, overall it`s not enough for me to continue watching. Does it get better and more interesting or will it continue to be like this?

I didn’t know it had a bad rep either. I was so excited for it. I liked it, I just think it’s the weakest in terms of the arcs. But I shouldn’t even use the word weak, it’s a classic and amazing at times, I just didn’t enjoy it as much as the other arcs. I still loved the arc, it’s incredible, but for me I wish
Enel would have been a bit more imposing. Luffy broke him so hard. He went from having an indestructible God complex to acting like a complete coward. Was pathetic to see even though he did keep the pressure on them with his schemes and plots. I dislike it when the villains aren’t fully impressive. For that I have mixed feelings about Hoady Jones and Caesar Clown definitely as well. I like Hoady Jones though, he just was a pushover is all

As for Stone Ocean, this is all I have to say about that for now:

Part 3 aka JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders is the epitome of the series imo

So badass. Fucking hilarious. Incredible team. Unbelievable chemistry and camaraderie with those six. What a fucking team. And the mission plus enemies were fucking dope. I love Part 3 so much dude, it’s his best work that I’ve seen so far hands down

Excited for Stone Ocean and I know nothing about Steel Ball Run except there’s a dude named Johnny Joestar I think being the protagonist?

Definitely start from the beginning and just enjoy. They're all so unique that they could all stand alone, but I would definitely start with the first JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood. It builds the base well, and everything seems to pass by extremely rapidly despite it being arguably the 'tamest' ? I guess is the word I could use. But don't get me wrong, it's an amazing place to start. I love Jonathan Joestar so much. And what's crazy is, each season in succession, there's a new JoJo and they're all somehow related and badass in their own ways

JoJo is like the ultimate well-rounded anime now that I think of it. So many good times. Funny as fuck too. I'm always finding funny as fuck things to share with my friend who told me about JoJo and urged me to start watching. Not even the memes, it's just in the anime that I find it and will share. Too fucking hilarious some times lol. The memes are godly as well hahah

I'd say start from Part 1 which is JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood, and enjoy the build

Phantom Blood is very emotional, dark, tragic, disturbing at times. Phantom Blood, along with the following JoJo are the two that build the foundation of the entire series. I'd say Part 1 + 2 + 3 are the foundation
Battle Tendency is Godly in its ways. Simply incredible anime. Fucking love how intense the enemies and battles are. Classic for sure
Stardust Crusaders is an epic and vast mission. Very dangerous foes, extremely entertaining. I think it's like 78 episodes long, but before you know it you've watched it. Just like that. Savor it well, is my advice
Diamond is Unbreakable It's like the Majora's Mask of JoJo essentially. Very creative, very unique, a lot of layered themes taking place I felt. I consider it art, really stimulating and thoughtful. Truly bizarre as well
Golden Wind / Vento Aureo the fights are top notch. Extremely complex. I consider the protagonist the craftiest and most intelligent of all the JoJo characters. Very intriguing approach and mentality

Just go for it man. Jump in. Start the first episode today at some point, and thank yourself later down the line for watching such a ridiculous masterpiece of series. JJBA doesn't disappoint

I also am extremely fond of about a dozen or so tracks from the various JJBA soundtracks

There's one track that is so damn nice from one of the OST, that I swear it would be perfectly suited for a Bond film at some point during an intense action scene. You should hear some of the OST to some of them. Impressive as hell

Personally I watched Parts 1 & 2 for the first time recently (I started with 3) and they're both incredible despite the lack of Stands. JoJo starts very strong so you never have to worry about waiting until it gets good, it's great from the first episode. Part 2 in particular left a very strong impression for me, I knew the broad strokes of the plot before hand but damn episode 18 hit me so hard, it's one of the best in the entire series. From there it's a non-stop rollercoaster until the finale. David Pro pours so much heart and care in the art, direction, colors, sound effects, music, voice acting and the cliffhangers. My God these cliffhangers.
Roundabout is the greatest ending in all of anime imo, it has so many variations in art and uses almost all parts of the song to complement the mood of each episode. It elevates the dramatic impact of the story in a way no other ending theme does. That cliffhanger where Zeppeli "accepts his fate" along with the transition to the ending still brings a tear to my eye. The cliffhange where Caeser gets mad at the death of Mark is a close second, the change in the part of Roundabout that was used was unexpected yet soooo fitting.

love jojo, BUT first part isnt that great. having said that , it is barely 3h to watch and can still be laugh at for being quite... old feeling. part 2 is AMAZING tho, and can be found on netflix (canadian at least) up to part 3.

start at the beginning.

Right on. And well said

Also, 100% agree with the spoiler bit you detailed in your post. 100%. That was so powerful, all of it

That's the crazy part about JoJo, how touching some moments can be. It's unbelievable; the depth at times is simply awe-inspiring work. Like in Part 3, there was a moment so touching, so moving and powerful, that I do not have words...I cannot explain what transpired in that particular episode at that particular moment or do justice with mere words. It's most beautiful moment in anime that I believe I will ever see. Moved beyond words; my words cannot explain the profoundness of that scene and what it means to me personally

ValiantTraveler ValiantTraveler good guess bro, first one is right.
To this day it still gets me thinking and contemplating deeply. By far the most inspiring and probably the most profound moments in the series. I couldn’t believe it. That’s how true to life soldiers do, that’s the ultimate sign of love we can express to one another. Those two literally laid down their life to save their friend. True brothers. Those two, they’re true brothers. Words will never do it for what they accomplished. What they gave

JoJo NAILS character deaths. Like I said before the death of Caesar strongly impacted me. It felt like a death from Hokuto no Ken which also has plenty of memorable characters sacrificing themselves or dying tragically. These stories of true camaraderie between men resonate a lot with me. It's something I want to depict in my own stories.

Is Attack on Titan really hitting that heavily in its season 3 and how it delivered there?

Season one is great
Season two I hear is boring and drawn out?
Season three concludes and everybody is wholly impressed and praising it

Seriously intrigued. I wonder if I should read season 2 and watch season 3?

Sounds like bull to me, in season 1 too there are episodes without big plot moments. Seasons 2 & 3 are very consistent with season 1. You're gonna have some episodes with lots of dialogues, but they're all important and the story doesn't work without them. You can't have bombastic action in every episode. People saying season 2 is boring and drawn out just want the action to happen and don't care about the story.

Season 3 is praised a lot because of the payoff from previous seasons. Also it has plenty of "What the hell??" moments.

Both the anime and manga are great, I'd suggest you watch the anime and then read the manga. Don't know about you but I enjoy comparing how scenes are delivered between the two media.

ValiantTraveler ValiantTraveler i’ve seen all of season one. The very first episode grabs your attention like no other. First episode went straight in

Death Note had the greatest introductory episode before that imo, that I’ve seen. It went from extremely interesting to unbelievable lvl of hype and excitement

I really enjoyed the first season. I would give it a solid 8.3/10 probably

Attack On Titan S1 is definitely a lot fast paced than S2 and even S3 Part 1. Considering it only had half the episodes of S2, a lot more things happen in it.

S3 Part 2 is where it's getting really good but it's still not really as fast paced as S1 (considering it's mostly just one big battle). But the direction is so good.

Yoow finally was able to watch some movies after a tiring month (can’t even remember if I talked about them before but here goes).

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time - I thought that was gorgeous and the story was nice to follow even if I didn’t realize it was a sequel. But that ending... felt cheap?

I Want to Eat Your Pancreas - it didn’t feel incredibly inventive and I would have preferred to watch that one year unfold. I’d still recommend this.

Konosuba movie - ah, yes. I missed these oddballs. And didn’t know Yunyun would have a role in this! Sylvia literally had tentacles and that’s already a fair warning.

It's good from the very start I'd say. Or at least once the "running" contest starts.

I thought it was boring until the very end of the hunter exam ark.

Now that I'm the arena arc and they're learning NEN and getting their 'super powers' I'm enjoying it way more.

Weathering With You - I really loved this one, and it’s gorgeous too. The music integrated really well into the scenes. I guess my biggest criticism is that it needed more Hina time and development. And Suga too before the climax of the movie.

It seems that I’m back into the dub mentality again. I was watching subs there for a bit, but then I caught myself watching my Volume 1 Bleach Blu-ray and it had the English dub defaulted on the disc and I didn’t even notice until like 5 minutes in. I’m such a goober. From then on I watched the dub. I guess I’ve just always been a dub man. I grew up with dubs and I prefer them. Not that I hate subs. I enjoy them from time to time, but I feel like I have to be in the mood for them and have to be ready to focus in on that shit whereas I can just relax and enjoy a dubbed anime.

I know dubs get a LOT of hate, but they are pretty solid most of the time these days. Honestly, who cares which you choose as long as you’re enjoying the medium that is anime. We all love anime and that’s what’s important at the end of the day. Can’t we all be friends?

I feel you, sometimes i don't mind the dubs but most dubs are horrible. don't know abot bleach's dub quality.
Shout out to that horrible kono suba dub - latest that comes to mind.

My first anime was Deadman Wonderland and it was an English Dub. Worked well enough. Death Note was my second anime, English Dub again, it was really good, great even. Then I think I went to a big time anime for my third, Hunter X Hunter. I was 2/2 with Dubs so I figured sure let's see how it sounds. Nope lmao. I heard one sentence from Gon's grandmother and I was fucking done lol. Went to English Subtitles and never looked back

And before I had gotten into One Piece. I had checked out a random video in the 300s I think just to hear the English Dub and what everyone sounded like. I heard Luffy say one thing and I was like hell no let me gtfo of here. The english dub for One Piece is so horrendous. So bad. Just immensely poor

Another time I was lent the DBZ DVDs from a friend who had every single one, big time fan. I heard the fat dude in the very beginning speak, that farmer I think he was who saw Goku crash land, my goodness dude, I couldn't watch more than a few minutes before I returned them to him that week or the next

Dub is just unbearable for me unless the VA have a true tact for their craft. Every little nuance has to be on point otherwise I'm out. I like english subtitles because the Japanese language is so fluid and the women have really intriguing voices. And for some reason, the men have very dominant voices when they sound gruff. Japanese is an excellent language for VA, just perfect imo. ANd since I don't know it, it all sound perfect to me hahaha

Hunter X Hunter has some fucking CRAZY fights and confrontations. If you aren't enjoying the Hunter Exams so much (personally I was captivated but HxH was only my 3rd anime ever so naturally I was intrigued)
then I would say that the third story arc is probably what would do it for you. It's called Yorknew City arc and it is one hell of a trip with some insanely tense moments. In that arc, you really feel the monumental danger Gon and his young friends are up against. There are some big time characters and fights in that story arc

Hunter X Hunter starts to get insane after the second arc, so the third arc is when Gon, Killua, Kurapika, and Leorio sort of have a solid base of training and start to get into some nightmare scenarios. But it all happens quickly enough. I love the 3rd, 4th, and 5th arcs. The 5th arc is legendary btw, it's so serious. I would recommend anyone watch HxH just experience the 5th arc

But to answer your question, episode 39 is the start of the Phantom Troupe arc / Yorknew City arc and from there you will see just how complex and murderous this anime's arcs can get. I love all the arcs, but 3,4, and 5 are the greatest. 3 and 5 being supremely entertaining. And I would call the fifth arc something of a masterpiece. Not quite a masterpiece but it is very, very, well made arc. The severity of the the fifth arc in HxH is surreal; so much is on the line

Yea, I'm actually just starting the Greed Island Arc as I just finished the Phantom Troupe arc and I can't get enough.

The characters and their development are so good, and I honestly feel bad for some of the Phantom Troupe members; even though, they're murder's, but there is something about them that gives them a human element even if they kill anyone, you kinda feel sorry for most of em, it's kinda weird, it make you conflicted.

I've heard Greed Island is one of the best arcs and I'm looking forward to watch tonight and eventually finish the series later this week.

My favorite arcs were the Hunter Exam and Greed Island. But I guess everyone likes some other arc.

The 99 version's first opening is much superior to anything else though.

Superior animation/use of colors as well.

The second OP was better IMO

vs the happy crap from the 2011 one that felt absolutely soulless.

Dude, right on!! Yeah HxH is amazing, it just keeps picking up more and more speed to a point. Great pacing and increase in tension arc by arc for the most part. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the next two arc. What did you think about Zoldyck, Heavens Arena, and Phantom Troupe arc?

I am a huge fan of the Greed Island arc. It’s very fun imo. Just try to imagine being in that situation though if you can...Horrifying, the level of pressure and stress of being in that situation. You’ll see, soon enough

I’ve never watched more than a a few minutes of the old 1999 version was it? But there’s nothing wrong with it, the art style is way more vibrant and alive if we’re going to compare the environments and movements of each, based off what I’ve seen

I've actually only seen the 90's version of Hunter x Hunter, saw around 30-40 episodes IIRC. I really liked it, just never got more into it. I assumed I could just jump into the more recent anime since it's a reboot, but I hear it omits something big from the beginning that pays off way later whereas the original anime had it in the beginning. So what, should I like rewatch the first episode or two of the original, then start with the new one?

1999 HXH is pretty amazing through the York arc but Greed Island was a stinker because it was made during the transition from cel to digital animation. It suffered pretty hard as a result, lol.

I find that dub is a good way to introduce someone to anime. I started with Digimon Adventure dub. My brother started with MHA dub.
I know some people put off by subs because just focusing on the text while everything moves in the background give them a headache.

I have a question, which might be a tad bit ironic considering my avatar, but as someone who's a huge fan of pretty much all the new iterations of Godzilla I absolutely love the new anime trilogy set of films (I know they're not for the diehard Godzilla fans but they ticked all the right boxes for me) and I'm wondering if anyone knows if this trilogy is available on bluray somewhere, with english subs? I've been trying to find 'em but to no avail. Halp. :(

Ah lol I just finished HxH a week ago myself and absolutely loved it but one of my least favourite arcs is the Greed Island one lol. Horses for courses and all that I suppose! :p

I am so confused with the Jojo Seasons, isn`t Stardust Crusaders Part 2 / Season 2?

Part 8 = JoJolion (Manga only atm

My friend's who watched it as well weren't to fond of Greed Island either. Well, they liked it, but not nearly as much as I was enjoying it. I'm really fond of that arc, I think it's highly creative. One of the best songs in the entire anime imo plays during that arc (Greed Island)

I was a big fan of it, but I definitely can see why some would probably be like "it's alright i've seen better"

Then I cri.

Also I'm up to episode 5 of Dorohedoro and am loving it. The art is stunning and it's quickly becoming one of the best shows I've seen this year. Feels like the Pulp Fiction of anime honestly lol.
