That Developer who was analyzing the UE5 presentation

ujKpBTt.jpg
I have a feeling the guy is a bit conflicted about how to proceed. When I looked at his stream I noticed that until the UE5 reaction video he had just about 20k to 30k views on average. However with the UE5 video reaction he must have been quite surprised to see about 500k views. It's definitely the mention of PS5 that has got him so many views. So now I think he's in the sad situation of putting out a video that he likes to do vs doing another PS5 video for youtube views.

What do you think of this? Ryan McCaffrey of IGN is stating that the fact that Sony is committed to making PS5 exclusives from the start means that Sony will not have its SmartDelivery, does it make sense? I think it's early to say something like that.

Just like PC XDDD OMG nowadays everyone can be a journalist. We have 12 TF cards running indistingusubly better than the consoles because that’s the baseline but PC is never held back.

The last game not held back by console generations was Crysis and we all know how that went.

This is the lecture that many people need.

I think that also confirms that B/C, crossing generations will be minimal. I don't mind. It is what it is. I'd love to pop in an old JRPG from the PS1/2 days, but it really is about the future. I'm getting next-gen Consoles for new games only.

btw, just realized today would have been the release of TLOU2. Soon..

Its....Ryan McCaffrey. Do we need to post the infamous resolution GIF to say more?

Sony have their own version of 'smart delivery', it's called cross-buy which has been a thing for 8 years now. Like always, it was up to publishers to take advantage of it but to no ones' surprise, they like their money. As for not being 'held back', it's preaching to the choir again. Any half-technically minded person would realize how significant a jump we're getting next-gen with Storage and CPUs. No matter how MS and their shills dress it up, having to design their games to run on toasters from 2013 would be severely limiting their ambitions. Heck, a healthy dose of skepticism can be applied to their impending Lockhart console. If they gimp the CPU/SSD, that's already lowering the baseline.

he can mix it. PS5 videos will attract the people and other staff can help to subscribe to the channel.

They already have Cross Buy. It's up to developers, just like it's up to developers for "Smart Delivery".

But don't let bias "journalists" that carry water for one brand, provide you with all the facts. It impacts their message and concern spread.

MS has never been a company to successfully and consistently innovate. They’re buyers and copiers, not innovators.

I mean they traded on DOS - bought from another guy and pimped as their own to IBM. Windows - copied from apple amongst others. Office -copied or bought bits from other companies. Those are their successful things.

Then there’s a long list of copies that failed, and stuff they bought that either they squandered or it existed outside of MS control and was just allowed to survive in limbo - minecraft is a good example as is Flight Sim - both bought from outside and now seemingly left to drift along in zombie mode.

Is it any surprise that MS console strategy is to try and copy their competitors rather than innovate for themselves - it’s what they’ve done in every market they enter...

Having taken that shit on MS - praise where praise is due. Bringing Live to consoles was a first and an important addition to consoles at the time and they were well ahead of the game. That was innovative and much kudos to them for forcing Sony to do better. It’s a shame MS have stagnated on the technology though - or maybe it’s just that that tech has played out for now.

Sony came into this gen with a vision about what they wanted to achieve, where major gains could be made, and developed a console to match. MS just took what they did last gen, copied Sony’s SSD idea inelegantly and are now trying to win the bullet point war.
I read a very interesting article years ago about how Microsoft, far from being an advance for informatics, was a drag, many times buying and including solutions for your system and many others buying and destroying what you did not want or could add ...

Ryan would take a bullet for MS if it meant winning the war. God Damn!!!

Nothing better than a console release year. Drama, Wars, and exciting news about the future of gaming all packed into one.

His UE5 comments video is why I subbed and am now watching his mainline stuff on game engine design.

He's still licking those boots huh? I honestly don't understand how he can be considered a journalist when spouting such nonsense.

PS5 Price Will “Provide the Best Possible Value Proposition” – PlayStation CEO

SIE chief Jim Ryan adds he doesn’t “necessarily mean lowest price.”

I am still betting on $449

“I think the best way that we can address this is by providing the best possible value proposition that we can,” Ryan said. “I don’t necessarily mean lowest price. Value is a combination of many things. In our area it means games, it means number of games, depth of games, breadth of games, quality of games, price of games… all of these things and how they avail themselves of the feature set of the platform.”

When talking specifically about current-gen for instance, Sony knows a majority of it's fanbase is on the PS4. They'll have those games by 3rd party developers that will cater to both PS4/5 platforms for the next two years or so assuming. Xbox will do their thing with the "not leaving players behind " campaign by allowing their games to work via smart delivery. My assumption is that it's geared more towards to their 1st party content. They've done well to have their backwards compatibility work across their platforms. They have their thing and Sony will have theirs. That's going to be the beauty for those who can afford both next-gen Consoles and a reason why I want both personally. There won't be any FOMO from that perspective.

For Sony, their main focus for new, exclusive content will be on the PS5 only. This was part of Jim Ryan's message months back to where they want people to move to the PS5 as quickly as possible. We would think backwards compatibility would be the driving factor to get the PS5, but it seems now that it would only be for those top 100 PS4 games or so that was discussed. Sadly, I think the PS1-3 games may not make it on next-gen. I've made my peace with that.
