I know im lttp but what excited me the most recently is the ue5 demo running in real time on a console
Thats the next gen impression i was looking forward and im happy devs are willing to target 1440p/30fps to deliver insane visuals and worlds of great scope.

I was afraid all the marketing towards 4k/60fps would make them shy to push things further

It would be great if we have the possibility in the PS5 to choose the Assets Quality (like 8k assets or 4K compressed) to increase the resolution or fps. But if we have only 8K raw assets or something similar, I will be happy too.

About the assets quality: One of the benefits of nanite is to eliminate the need to create alternative quality assets, so not sure if including lower quality assets will have a significant impact on development time and install size. I need to catch up with eurogamer article so from my limited knowledge i think lower quality assets won't free significant GPU resources. It seems to me that would mostly alleviate storage bandwidth usage

Having said that devs could go for a in between quality as has been suggested, Lumen GI also seems pretty advanced. Im glad we are already seeing more performant alternatives to raytracing.

Lets see what aproach other next gen engines take: ubi, frostbite, R*, nd, gerrilla games and polyphony digital are the ones im more curious

Yep. 1440p 30 fps was music to my ears. The funny thing is that digital foundry wasn't able to count pixels and dictator was all we have to change the way we compare games going forward.

I think these settling needs to stay on PC.
Console should have little to no options (little because all games should have accessibility options) for the best best experience.

It is about to start the game and play it like everybody else.

I get it but like.....then there is no incentive to upgrade if I can play it on an older system, why do I need a new one, and ubisoft already confirmed the inevitable that the series x version is only 4k30
If i buy a new car i want incentive with the newer version and not realize the 2019 model has the same old features as the 2020 one

If you recall, after that first briefing that was the only other "official" playstation reveal, people were pretty harsh on his presentation and presentation skills. So yeah, I think a lot of people would comment on things if he and others were responding similarly.

That being said, you make a valid point. Bottom line, this is marketing and PR from Microsoft. It's simply their style and that style differs from that of Sony. I think mostly people are kind of good naturally poking fun (from what I've seen), but I have no doubt there are those who are the meaner spirited that make their comments as well.

Hey, welcome back! I agree...bottom line what matters is the visual quality and presentation. Whether it's 4k or 2k or whatever...that's less important. Also, most people still have 1080p TV's so I don't think it's NECESSARY to focus on that 4k 60fps mark.

I don’t know if it got delayed but it has had a rocky development from the sound of it.
In general I am not a fan of most launch games because they are typically rush jobs. Usually don’t see real next gen stuff until a year or two later. Maybe this time will be different for both.
