Jim Ryan: "We remain absolutely on track. We're going to launch this holiday, globally." Pandemic not impacting price.

how come every time this guy opens his mouth, I want to punch his face?

Highlighting that price is unaffected, and that "best value" doesn't mean the lowest price, rings of Microsoft's words when the Xbone launched with weaker hardware and a higher price: "we're over-delivering value". The gaming community taught Don Mattrick that, ultimately, value is in the eye of the beholder. Hopefully, Jim Ryan isn't setting Sony up for a similar lesson. I'm thinking $499.00 may not be the ceiling after all...

Soo are you saying it’s the best value at $599? Or $499? Because I think $499 is the best price, just somewhat feels it will be more expensive.

I am still wary of getting the ps5 at launch. don't want it to be faulty and never have gotten a console day one.

Anybody who thinks this console is coming it at anything less than $499
is kidding themselves. That whole quote about pricing the console according to its "value", and not prioritizing a lowest possible price point is very telling.

With that said, a $500 PS5 would still be a very good deal. But I dont think we're seeing the agressice pricing that we saw in 2013 with the PS4.

While I agree that 499 for either console is still a great deal, I am not convinced that 449 is completely off the table

If the PS5 ends up costing more, being in shorter supply and being less powerful than the Series X (waiting for the early DF comparisons) then the Xbox has a real chance to take an early lead (especially if they manage to launch a cheap Lockhart variant too)
