It's sad that George Floyd has lost his life, it's tragic how he was killed, it's undefendable really and the right to protest it is a given, but people are taking shit way too far burning places down and looting.

Looting attacks the system, while simultaneously affirming the values of that system.
A TV, for example, is not an intrinsically valuable object. It only has value in a system that supports that invention with shows and products, as well as a technical infrastructure which allows it to work. Television alters a culture’s attitude toward time. By stealing a television, you are implicitly admitting that you value it, and by extension, the culture that gives it value, even though your stated goal is to attack the system. A more consistent approach would be just to burn it all, and take only what feeds you and keep you warm.
