I see a lot of excitement leading up to the PS5 launch, with many of you here wanting to get in on pre-ordering the PS5 before all the pre-orders are sold-out. With almost all major new hardware launches, there are always hardware issues that frustrate the early adopters. I want to get an opinion from some of you early adopters to see the reason why you don't care about any potential hardware issues with the PS5, and would go ahead and place your pre-orders at the first available opportunity. Is it because your opinion is that any potential hardware issues will be mitigated by your enjoyment of the PS5 on day-1? Is it that you don't care about any potential issues and don't mind waiting for the 2-3 weeks turnaround to send your defected PS5 back to Sony for repairs?

I'd pre-order it and it would be my first console pre-order ever.

As for past consoles and systems, I've only ever had one system issues with a PS2 (disc reading issue and was easily fixed by cleaning the little bars the disc readers sliders on).

New consoles are usually supply constrained for the first few months as it is, nevermind adding in the whole covid shite. So yes i would def pre-order one, if i was getting one that is.

I will not pre-order it, mainly not because of issues, but because I think PS4 still as a dope catalogue of games before I need a PS5.

I pre-ordered PS4 and don't regret it, but honestly, I will avoid that process for PS5.

I am immortal when it comes to console launch purchases. I got a 360 at launch from best buy and I never got a red ring of that. I never ever had any consoles break on me. I consider myself pretty lucky.

Pre-order straight away. With those prices, the Netherlands gives you a 3-year warranty by law.

Not sure why the laughing emoji?
Got YLOD twice with my OG PS3, outside of the 1-year warranty provided by Sony, and they were obligated by Dutch laws to replace them free-of-charge.

That a Playstation console will have great games to play is almost a certainty. I always pre-order a PS console for day 1 (since the PS2 that is).

I disagree. Today is a perfect day for these type of questions!
Before the show?No.
After the show? Maybe.
It really depends on what they will focus on today and from what i'm getting so far chances are the show will be software-centric. While your questions are hardware-centric.

It’s purely a games thing for me.

If for example God Of War 2 was a launch title, I will preorder. It has to have games at launch for me to buy.

Then again I like having new toys so I may preorder anyway lol

I'll wait for the beta testers to deal with the early adopter issues. Then wait for it to have games worth playing. And finally get said games when they're inevitably ported to PC.

Pre-ordering as soon as I can. I can easily cancel the pre-order if the launch lineup looks massively underwhelming.

tl;dr probably going to get excessively philosophical about it before succumbing to my impulses

I've always waited for a while after a console launched to make sure it had no major flaws, and also to build up a library of more games that are more discounted. But the last console launch, in 2013, I would have just been finishing university and so been careful about all expenditures, and now I've never been in such a position where I could day one a console without thinking about it twice before. Part of me says treat yo self, you can do it now so go for it, even if it might get frightfully near four figures in Canada which is still bonkers for a console to me. The other part looks at the sub 1000 hours I put on my PS4 compared to everyone else with many times that, and wonders if it's worth it. I've never been more able to get it, but that ember of thrill may be shrinking.

So...We'll see.

I'll be buying it day 1. I've been burned in the past with bad hardware but I'm willing to risk it. I just can't wait to get my Amazon pre-order in already so I don't have to stress about going around town on launch day :messenger_confused:

The smilie emojis means I'm happy for you. I wish we had laws like yours here in the US.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Current plan is to pre-order the Series X as soon as it's available.

Probably wait 6 months on the PS5 to make sure their launch goes smoothly. Of course, tonight's presentation could totally change my mind.

The only issue with PS5 will be people fighting to buy it at launch.

Day one for me.

and realistically when has a console launch been plagued with serious issue (not including controllers) since the original 360 RRoD? I bought my XBO day one, my ps4 shortly after and my switch day one and ive never run into problems with the hardware itself.

Lol my bad, can't tell what's sarcasm or not anymore.

Yeah, we're lucky with consumer protection laws over here. Not sure if it's a Dutch thing, or EU in general.
Imo all countries should be like that.

One less worry.
