GQ:” Sony’s PlayStation 5 has more exclusives than the Xbox Series X can handle”

From Horizon: Forbidden West to Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the PlayStation 5 goes big on blockbuster exclusives

If every new console generation is a fight for the ages, then this current one has been a demolition job akin to Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder II. To date, the PlayStation 4 makes up just over 50 per cent of the entire market, with more than 107 million consoles sold compared to the Xbox One’s almost paltry 47m. The secret sauce? A steady combination of affordable hardware and countless stellar exclusives such as The Last Of Us Part II, God Of War and Spider-Man.

Some real hot takes on Sony’s presentation yesterday.

GQ going in on Microsoft like they got a cheque. I bought a PS4 twice this gen for exclusives, but what Sony showed yesterday was underwhelming, first party wise. Horizon ain’t my shit.

GQ are over the moon, so much so it made them want to go nuts.

Article makes it look like all games shown were PS exclusive.

Articles like these are what gives Sony the edge. Their contacts in the entertainment industry dwarfs MS.

Journalists are bending over backwards for Sony since they pretty much are kings in film, music and gaming.

Company wise MS might be larger but they are literally a guest in Sony’s backyard.

I fear for MS that they are back at square 1 - aka OG Xbox day 1 in terms of brand support. And they need to humble themselves and look back at what got them from OG Xbox to 360.

// rant mode
I suspect it all started to go shit when they relocated the Xbox Division to the main MS campus and introduces all the dads and mom execs.

These Windows and office ghouls absorbed the brand and leveraged it to boost popularity of Windows 8. You can time this exactly.

Windows 8 influences on 360 OS design. This was the start of Xbox their decline.
- Kinect introduced, first party output plummets on 360.
Xbox One designed specifically to boost other MS products. Remember that bullshit Skype integration after they blew all that money on Skype. They even promoted Xbox for video conferencing.

Xbox literally got dragged into all these corporate sponsorships while Sony was signing marketing deals in places where they know PS fans can be reached.

// rant over

I mean, yesterday's show was awesome for me, but do we really expect someone writing on GQ to have any expertise in video games and to write anything else than a clickbait hot take?

Not hot take at all thy showed more games and exclusives then Microsoft has in two or three presentations put together in last few gens. Sony killed it and I'm very happy with what I saw. Good amount of exclusives, some b tier games and interesting indies as opposed to others that show two exclusives rest fluffed up multiplats. We know about several Microsoft games the new studios are working with including Hellblade 2 and I'll take Sony's offering over almost all of them.

Hey but thts just how I feel. The variety was great and the heavy hitters looked next Gen in graphics, scope, fov, ray tracing, etc tht fucking ratchet was so good as well as Horizon, GT, Kena, Sack Boy, Spidey, Returnal, etc... And thts not even all of the games thy have in production thts the scary part.

A bit clickbait... but I get the main point.
No real exclusives (because of pc) kinda dilutes the appeal of the console. But not everyone has or wants a gaming pc.

Hmm the console looks uglier than my HP Tango printer, the bottom part, color scheme and position reminded me of it.
Don't really care for hot takes articles, buy what you want or suit your needs - don't need writers to influence your choice.

But we haven't seen all XSX exclusives yet?
Or have we?
This was Sonys first reveal and they've shown more games from first and 3rd party then all of the Xbox Series X shows.
And they still haven't shown as much as MS has about the console
It's not a hot take, just facts

I didn’t even realize GQ existed anymore. Guess they have to do stupid articles like this from time to time to remind us all.

Its fanboys being fanboys. July event is in, you know, July. But sony has already won. No need to see it guys. Pack it up. Console war is over.

Oh and backwards compatibility sucks by the way, sony doesnt need it. But we'll start off the show with GTAV. A brand new old game. Doing it the sony way.

Bro ppls memory or purposely mis remembering is crazy. They showed more exclusives then Microsoft has in like three presentations combined lol during last two gens and I'm not even counting the times exclusives or multiplats games. Tht presentation was a solid 85-90 easily. Deducted points for tht bs suicide high or whatever the fuck and another dumb game I cant remember plus no fps shooter.

We haven't. People keep thinking the inside xbox episode, that they do all the time was actually the big reveal MS had. It wasn't. Sony showed everything they had. Which for launch really isn't a lot when you think of first party exclusives.

But we haven't seen all XSX exclusives yet?
ans 70% of what was shown were mutliplats or timed exclusives running on PS5.
How many of those are timed exclusives? Counting those means fuck all.

You all prove my point. Sony did om, and the media is blowing up for them.
Have you even looked at social media reaction to yesterday? Have you looked at polls? PS5 is eclipsing Series X. It’s a fact, I’m sorry. I’m buying a SX at launch and wait for the PS5.
Might as well just not release the series x. GQ said so.
Crawl out of your hole and realise how much regular consumers are influenced by outlets as GQ.

Sony are kings in film now?
Let me know when MS has a successful film production division. And extensive IP and licensing potential.

Facepalm emoji when?

Right about now.

This seems a bit premature. The last Xbox "Event" was focused around third-party titles.

I'm not arguing that Sony doesn't have more exclusives, but Microsoft hasn't announced their full slate of software yet.

Edit: Ah, folks are using the "Microsoft exclusives aren't exclusives because they're on PC" argument in this thread. Got it.

A bit clickbait... but I get the main point.

It's amazing to me how folks have somehow spun Microsoft's games being available on PC as a negative. More choice is bad somehow?

The salt is from tht last presentation from the competitor being a hot negative 1 on the 1-10 number scale. Tht shit was atrocious.

Good call on writing that article before 1st party even. Bravo!

Sure attracted the usual sodium crew by the looks of it though

I don't need to worry what's coming our way with Sony, they have too many great iconic game franchises to use. Does Xbox even have any games coming out this year? God honest question - I've not heard anything of an xbox game coming out to send off the generation. I've not actually heard of any xbox games be spoken about since......I can't actually remember. I know there's Halo games and Gears, but is there anything aside from big bulky men in space like suits with phat guns? Any adventure games? Any good characters driven games? Again god honest question...I've never followed xbox because i've never seen anything that looks good. I know Senua's Sacrafice 2 is going to be xbox exclusive, but the first was originally a PS exclusive wasn't it? I mean.... I'd be interested to see how that turns out.

When you want to sell hardware, yes.
Not a negative for players, a negative side effect for the company.

Software is always much more profitable than software. Microsoft is making the same amount of money whether you buy their games on PC or on a Xbox console.

Even the most ardent fanboy shouldn't be hand-wringing about Microsoft's ability to sell hardware as long as they're publishing great software.

Well facts are facts, and Sony still has a wallop more exclusives waiting to reveal till launch. There are a million more rumors of Sony exclusives in the pipeline. We only saw some of those at the reveal yesterday.

Ah, GQ. Yes, I remember where I heard that name the last time.
You doing fucking realise GQ is a men’s magazine and has a huge audience? Fuck out of here with that disaster of a fucking interview. That “journalist” does not reflect the rest of GQ’s production.

More men read this than any of your favourite gaming magazines or view your favourite youtubers channel.

Still a negative, even if less relevant. PC games are cheaper than console games and it's easier to find them cheaper than on consoles where you are limited to official sales.

Okay, then play the game on PC, save money. How is that a negative?
