SpaceX building Starship in Texas (live videos of construction)

Stream up. I wonder why SN7 is moving and not SN5 or SN6
edit: wait SN7 is just a test tank?

edit 2: SN7 is a test tank because it is made out of newer material so they have to test it again says NSF

I just hope I can get it living in an apartment building downtown instead of a house.
I really want to dump my cable internet provider they are so damn expensive but really the only choice around

I don't think their stuff will be for city dwellers price wise. For sure it will be more expensive than your normal cable. The main point behind starlink is that it will give access to basically all rural areas where they have very shitty or no access to internet.

But who knows. Details are scant for now, there also isn't anything about what hardware user will have to use to join to network.

How long til this trickles down to level us commoners can afford to ride in any shape or form? Know that's not the goal with this but hope Musk will use economy of scale to eventually allow rocket trips for everyone just like with his car line.

rich guys in about a year or two, regular folks is the dream but that will take much longer to get cheap enough

I just want to die peacefully one day, knowing, that we as a species managed to get interplanetary. Even if i won't experience that in person anymore to travel and live there..

Only thing i care about is what's at the end of the universe. that's the only goal people should go for. Populating other planets is a waste of time in my view.

What makes you think there's an end?

Everything has a end the universe has a end. I don't believe for a second its endless. Nothing is endless. Planet can look endless for a ant, is it endless? nope. I honestly believe the universe is yet another round bubble and that's about it. Our universe could be a planet by itself made out of dark material by itself floating in something else.

Your chances of witnessing this in your lifetime are slim to none, my friend.

a decent 40 minute Mars Mission update and Starship timeline

after watching this it all seems way too ambitious to happen on time. I would say from now on every time an SN blows up we lose a month to 6 months.

An "end" is mostly an arbitrary human concept though. The universe is probably comparable to a fractal in some incomprehensible way.

that looks like an ice cone they are going to blow it up

It is so hot down in Boca Chica you can hardly see the video with the heat distortion

this stream is cleaner and closer to the pad

EDIT: remember you can click the red bar on this live stream to watch what happened many hours ago - you can watch the pop 4:11 local time or
(3pm on that video time stamp on clock lower right corner)

I would love to see every step in the process of cleaning this up and getting it ready to fly again

it really blows my mind to think that Starship will be even more reusable

I wonder how long SPACEX will continue to be this open with people walking around taking pictures
You put two rockets next to each other, they even know which one is SN5 and which is SN6 that is a lot of easy info flow, Blue Origin must have a full team dedicated to taking down notes of SpaceX info.

I mean I do love that we get to look this close at the building and testing process we know nothing about the other players who should be working on similar projects but only being able to see one company be this open worries me about the other companies sitting back and eating this shit up

Blue Origin isn't even at the point of replicating the Falcon 1, never mind Starship. They haven't made it to low earth orbit yet. So I doubt it's much of a concern.

One more thing about Blue Origin..
Is it only me, or is anyone else feeling cringey about their naming of stuff.

"Blue Origin" sounds so corny already, but naming their rockets after famed astronauts ("new Shepherd", "New Glenn") is pretentious as fuck.

It's like names out of a fan fiction story a 9 year old wrote.

You guys might be taking Jeff Bezos too lightly, Blue Origin is his space fanboy toy, he has very deep pockets, they stole some SpaceX talent early on. (not that it has proven worth much) I am just wondering if they are even serious about getting into Space at this point if so, they must be spying or doing something behind the scenes.

I agree I don't like the names on Blue Origin's projects, New Glenn, New Shepard are corny as hell. And the moon lander was one ugly monster of a thing I am not sure how Bezos presented that on stage with a straight face and now NASA gave them money for that thing.

As much as I love what I see SpaceX do publicly I can't help but wonder how Blue Origin and others end up with even more NASA funding showing 10% of what SpaceX does openly. Something fishy is up with that mess. Are they showing NASA that much more than what the public sees?

I know even SpaceX holds some secrets back that only NASA sees but the divide seems vast between SpaceX and those guys yet SpaceX gets less funding everytime NASA has projects to offer.

Why SpaceX gets the least money though is the only one really delivering so far is a mystery if there has ever been one.
I know of that weirdo "every state wants to protect its space industry" thing that keeps shit like the SLS afloat, but I don't have any idea what's up with those other companies that are standing there with empty hands.

Bezos could out spend NASA dollar for dollar for the next 20 years and he would not even feel thing, that fact alone blows my mind when NASA gives them more money than SpaceX.

Elon has money but he is not on that Bezos level. He put work into his companies and they make a profit. My worry about these other companies is they are just trying to carry on with the old ways to suck money like the SLS, just get the government and states backing them and just spend money without having to build anything worth a damn for as long as they can squeeze more funding out of NASA. It is more about the money than about getting to space.

SpaceX is going to end up carrying most of the future projects NASA wants to get done.

I love seeing Rocket Lab fly out of New Zealand. An American company with a much smaller rocket but you can see they are getting things done little by little.

5 days ago. I can't even remember the last time Blue Origin launched anything.

I want to see Rocket Lab get to the helicopter catch stage, the plan is to try to catch the rocket with helicopters to become reusable

they are tiny compared to what SpaceX is pulling off but I respect them because they seem to have some pride in what they do

edit: that rocket is so tiny it is cute :3 better to be cute than limp like a New Glenn
