This was taken by the police as domestic violence as he had coerced her to have sex, which is basically rape even though she consented.

Thats not the point. The point is that when these things get out in public, guys lives get ruined.
I know of a couple of vocalists in bands right now who are being crucified on Twitter and got thrown out of bands because some 19 yo old groupie who they slept with, got their feeling hurt that the dude didn't want them for anything other than a one night stand.
