The gaming community is an abomination.

Kids that are gaming now have no respect for gaming as an hobby in general.

The last of Us 2 is a prime example. Naughty Dog have given us so many great games in the past, and still do. You can tell that they put their heart into each games they released.

But, for whatever reason, kids these days will try their best to trash it, and disrespect the hard work of so many people involve in the creations of these games.

Giving the Last of Us 2 a score of "0" is unfair. There is a least something good in this game.

Been playing the game since release, and the attention to details from the environment to the combat is beyond any other studio have tried before.

Some may not like the story, that's fair, but at the same time bias because as humans we come in many different shades. I bet some of the young brains who complain are either gay themselves or at least have a parents who is. Nothing wrong with that is just part of our human life story.

Diversity is always good, and if we truly respect gaming, we should stop bringing our personal opinions into every games that is releasing today.

Also, nowadays everybody is acting like an expert. these young brains act has if they can create better stories or games Than Naughty Dog etc...

My advice to the youngsters coming in is:

Be respectful, and don't bash something that you yourself cannot do. We as a community needs to change...until its too late and we end up destroy it.

Its always better to give constructive criticism instead of always acting mighty and bashing the hard work of some of these devs and gaming studios out there.

I don't know if some here will understand my message, but I hope that as a community we respect and cherish what we have....

I think kids have nothing to do with TLOU 2 reviews.
The reasons TLOU 2 is hated are mostly political, and about the story following the first one, which is bad, a sequel wasn't really needed at this point. Most of them are also a way tell all those gaming journalists that their 100/100 reviews are bs, I'm sure it woud not have got so much hate if the score was in the 80s instead of 96(then 95).
Considering that kids usually totally ignore politics, and a good chunk of them also ignore story as long as they can shoot at targets, I'd say that the most hate comes from 25+ years old gamers.

Sounds like any human community that gets large enough.

I don’t think this single example is enough to support your thesis, and your thread title.

I think many people are legitimately criticising the story for good reasons with no bad intentions (not related to THAT thing) and a bunch of submentals are also saying they dislike it but for less honest reasons. A very small number are actual bigots, as in tiny compared to all those that play it.

Just like real life: A bunch of honest people, a bunch of submentals and a small number of assholes.

Where were you when people were review bombing Death stranding? So many people worked hard on that game. But its only a problem when people retort against forced diversity and politics in games? I'd say its fair to give some games a zero if the politics has infested it so much it fucks up your enjoyment of the game. A game that can't be enjoyed = zero. Fair right?

Death Stranding had a much more subtle attack by people who hated Kojima's famous status...TLOU2 however was a more of a political and racial attack due to gays and shit

Don't bash what we ourselves cannot do?

99% of the members on this forum couldn't even write Tic Tac Toe in C++. Does that mean we can't have opinions on any game software? We can only say positive things even about the most shovelware of games because we don't know how to program one ourselves?

You’re upset that some people don’t like a game you like, and this is evidence that the entire community is an abomination?
Come on, the hate on TLOU part 2 in here is not just a simple “I don’t like this game”, I wish it was only that, they made it impossible to have proper discussion about this game.

Looking at current threads in NeoGAF, You can’t tell me in straight face the hate towards this game is simple “criticism”.

I don't know if some here will understand my message, but I hope that as a community we respect and cherish what we have....

1st bolded piece: I don't agree, if its forced in then its going to be at the behest of idealogues and to the detriment of the rest of the game. Idealogues don't care about the vessel of their propaganda, only that it reaches the audience they want to. The end game isn't to make everyone completely race/sex/age/disabled/etc blind, you'd think it was but the goal is to make everyone think exactly alike, which isn't diversity of thought.

2nd sentence: You are being dramatic lol art isn't soley for the person who creates it, if it is then don't give it to the world. People rejecting the political messages of this game doesn't mean they don't want the themes of TLOU2 in their games, they just want it to be done competently and not forced into a storyline where it doesn't fit.

Final bolded sentence: you need to get thicker skin, the majority of consumers aren't very smart and the majority thats buying (and tweeting/facebooking about the gamee) drives the content. You will have to accept that retards rule the roost at this point in the lifespan of games, games are a massive industry now compared to the 1990s so they are always going to listen to the majority (Just like films, look what we've had as our blockbusters for 10+ years now...) because they can't take risks.

Has nothing to do with it, I Just don't like how we portray ourselves like "idiots" these days.

You reply is a proof of what im talking about, you don't use your brain enough. Quick to answer slow to thing.

Where I live there is a saying that goes like: "Il faut tourner sept fois sa langue dans sa bouche avant de parler."

Hope you can at least translate that.

Thanks

So, this is the "stop disliking the things I like" kidz edition.

Sorry to dissapoint yah, but this crap shit of putting big words and calling people kids won't make you a big deal. Neither clowns who keep bad naming other people, trying to get social points calling them homophobic just because they don't like this game(this is the most stupid and embarassing type of comment btw).

Put some pants on and accept that no one have to like the things you like and no one is obligated to have the same taste as do you. Grow up better as a person, your thread is embarassing.

Kids are review bombing last of us? I don't even think kids know what that game is, nor do they care. Anyone who is a kid was either not born or a toddler when the first one came out.

Most people I know in real life that play videogames are just normal everyday people.

The ONLINE gaming community is full of whiny, entitled or just annoying people that are consistently fighting and getting butthurt over everything............................ just like every other community or fanbase of pretty much everything else online.

I stopped caring about review scores a long time ago, and what other people thought about what games I play long before that. Just play what you enjoy. Trying to change people's minds about how they feel about media is futile.

Speak for yourself, I know I'm a rational, critical thinking person. I'm not a idiot. Stop thinking that the submentals of the internet are society at large.

“It’s not worth doing unless someone, somewhere would rather you weren’t”

Creating something that provokes no criticism or interest is—I believe—a creative failure. So in a sense, the (negative) opinions only ratify the game’s status as iconic.

I’ve written some critically acclaimed work myself and a small handful of readers just loathe it and that’s a good thing. I’m a visceral artist and apathy as a reaction to my work would be damning.

Anyhoo, TLOU2 is not for me, and the first entry was enough of a story and experience, so I won’t comment beyond that—or leave any rabid praise or scathing commentary elsewhere :)

I believe that is a massive distortion of what was being stated in the OP. The point is not that we have various opinions - the point is how that difference of opinion is expressed.

Myself, I look at some of these threads and feel sadness that people feel so threatened by racial diversity and gender equality.

Devs have nothing to do, the world we live in is full of diverse people with different sexual orientation and so on...I have no issue with that, in life or in video games.

Dont affect me personally.

I don't think you understand why people object to the way these themes are presented in the game, if you think everyone who criticises it is saying so because they don't like gay people in real life you need to go and do some reading.

I could let go of the TLOU2 defense.

But honest to god OP, you're not smarter or more mature than any of the people you are critizizing over an opinion of a piece of media. The fact that you think you are just makes you look arrogant, narrow-minded and childish.

Ok I got you. Never tried to act might. I guess humans are still primitive in thinking no matter how we move forward with technology :messenger_winking:

They hate the story, which was revealed a long time ago. Its that simple.

You sound upset by the explanations as to why they believe the story got so bad. But that's ancillary stuff - just people trying to rationalize why the game they waited years for ended up with a crappy story. I'll agree that some people are probably being disingenuous or a little rash in their user reviews, but ultimately the overall negativity is caused by the story line.
