I’m only getting one of the next gen consoles at launch the other a year or so later, because first world problems just have too many things not enough time.

If it isn’t the Series X, I know this game will still be a blast on my amazing One X.

Halo was 10M+ per game with Bungie, wasn't? I thought it was not the case anymore. I would be skeptical without numbers.
Only Halo 3 sold 12 million copies, the rest was below 10 million (on Xbox). Pachter said it sold on par with Halo1-4, the average is 9.25mil. That was in 2018. So now after including Game Pass numbers I'm pretty sure more than 10mil people have played it.

If its not a juggernaut are we expecting under 7 million players or so then?

Sales probably, but with gamepass and pc version everything will be fine. Unless game is broken which is highly unlikely to happen.

I still think 343i need to do better this time. It will be easier if they bring a great game.

Halo 5 story was lacking and the repeated boss wore me down heavily... The multiplayer was great but. Hoping across PC & XBOX platforms we get near 10 million players with gamepass and active player base.

This all started when Sony unveiled the PS5 logo and people started reporting that it became the most liked and/or shared video game social media post of all time.

It was stupid then and it's stupid now, I hope this post is meant to make fun of those that make a big deal about social media engagement. I hope that Infinite is great and that it does really well, but social media isn't a reliable indicator it's a cancer.

Actually I am feeling VERY generous today. Instead of the DMs for secret sauce for bigger pee pee. I'll just give the secret sauce to everyone else instead. Enjoy the bigger pee pee.

Now we count average sales of all mainline Halos combined just to mitigate Halo 5 sales? LOL. Btw. 10 mil played it means 10 mil. sales right? Right

Keep telling yourself that.

Look both Sony and Nintendo still have zero competition to the Halo franchise, even after all these years. Its a viable system seller.

H5 had its major issues - I have a feeling this new entry is going to right the ship.

I counted average because I said it did as well as previous instalments. The best selling Halo ever was Halo 3. It's around 14mil, the worst selling Halo was Halo CE with 6.5 mil. Halo 5, definitely surpassed 10mil, so I don't think it did poorly. Obviously we don't know the exact figures, but like Microsoft said to Pachter. It did inline with other Halo instalments.

10mil played doesn't necessarily mean 10 mil sales. Because you have to take into account second hand sales and since this gen Game Pass. Do we count every player that got it via Game Pass as a "sale"? Maybe it's not worth looking at sales, and more important to look at number of unique players.

Zero? I'm pretty sure multiple Nintendo franchises latest entries have outsold halo 5

Zero competition? Really?

I keep asking everyone and anyone for an answer here - and get no response. As a fan of Halo, name me a similar competitive offline/online FPS is on a Playstation or Nintendo console?
PS gave up on Resistance years ago - Nintendo got what, Splatoon? No thanks to both.
There is no alternative - its has no competition.

I think they mean the type of game. Nintendo has that squid one the pedos love but it's 3rd person and not very similar. Neither really attempt to compete in the FPS space.

If Halo 5 surpassed 10 mil. copies sold, i'm pretty sure MS would say something about that officially ( like they did for Halo 4 ). Not hiding behind Patcher. LOL That's not on par with other Halo titles, it's above average then. But looks like it's not. 2nd hand sales is a same copy of a game, not a new copy sold. You can't count also Gamepass as sale, it's borrowed. But you can count it surely as game played by player.

I see, Competition in FPS space. Yep, that's about right regarding Sony and Nintendo. But COD, R6, Apex butchered Halo 5 anyway in online.

That looks pretty great. PC only?
Nope; on XO and PS4 as well w/ mouse and keyboard support. Also has a gamepad mode but I have trouble imagining that would be fun (although you could pause a lot I guess.)

It's a fun one (I play on PC). The one thing I do on PC that you can't do on console is I backup my saves mid-game. The game is fucking tough and can take HOURS to get to a "wave" and if you fail you are supposed to start over. You'd have to be pretty patient to not save scum this one.

Would love for next gen to have more mouse/keyboard support.

And what's the most important part? Number of players or number of sales? I would think number of players, otherwise Fortnite is a really unsuccessful game.

Amount of money is all anyone involved cares about.

Fortnite has weirdos spending $10 to make their character have different pajamas by the millions.

Does Halo 5 have MTX?

it does but noone in their right mind would pay for those. not only because the game is pretty generous with its free REQ Packs but also because there aren't many good looking skins to begin with

Yeah, it has req packs. You can earn them at a good clip by normal gameplay though. Most people were more annoyed by how it changed the customization system than the Actual monetization in the end. They did have a role in warzone that was IMO too hard on newcomers, simply as a progression system, especially if you picked the game up post launch.

Yes it does. If it's about amount of money generated. We don't really have any figure on that except for the first 24h ($400 mil), so basically we don't really know. I would think that they easily got 10mil unique players, and that's a lot for the Xbox One, knowing it only sold 50-60mil consoles.

Ummm Ok... is this important? I mean its not a new announcement or console...

Halo 5 might of sold like previous ( I dont think it did otherwise MS would talk about it ) but its not the system seller it was with Halo 3.
Hopefully this one will be a classic and Halo be at there best

Sales. Money counts in the end. Fortnite wouldn't be successfull if it doesn't have huge amount of MTX and other stuff sold.

Last I heard that was revenue, not sales numbers. Warzone with it's microtransactions brought in a lot of cash.

Is be really curious to see how many req packs sold. I played a crap ton of Halo 5, but never bought the straight up req packs, just some stuff that couldn’t be bought with req points. For me that just meant the team skins for 2 pro teams. I wonder if that’s enough for them? with their mtx, I feel like the more I played the less incentive to buy. It’s kinda the opposite of fortnite skins. With Halo you can also, relatively easily “finish” the req packs, having unlocked everything. Ive probably spent as much time post unlocking everything as I have before it.

I hope this is a joke lol. I wouldn't call Microsoft trying to take advantage, they've been readying up for this upcoming gen.

I was not implying it's a bad thing. Sony went MIA for almost two full years and Microsoft was riding the "most powerful console", "best version of third party games" thing with the One X. As they should. They were also the more interested party in starting to talk about next gen. As they should.

What I was saying is for months now Xbox has been really agressive with their marketing, taunting Sony with Teraflops and their lack of "transparency" and saying things like they don't see them as real competitors but Google and Amazon. And all that momentum they got going seems to have stopped abruptly once Playstation opened its mouth. They need to get the ball rolling again.

Yes. In 24h. That's pretty good...

Too bad they combined it with merchandise and accessories. Game only surely it would be way less, maybe even below Halo 3 or 4.
IIRC Halo 5 has sold above 900k in launch month in US.

Honestly never was a big halo fan even tho 3 holds a spot in my heart for gaming memories. I just dont see the appeal without bungie. 343i track record with the series has been medicore at best. But with game pass and pc releasing at the same time and with it rumored to be actually bundled with the xsx this thing will deff become the best saling halo regardless if its shit or not.

You are just guessing here on how it did. Microsoft said it sold on par with other Halo instalments, so unless they lied to Pachter or Pachter lied to the public, you are wrong and Halo is still a huge IP that people love. Which is why this super small voice clip already has 2.6 million views.
