TLOU2 Haters and Detractors are review-bombing Metacritic. The Salt rises!

One note characters means character with one personality, but how does it apply to TLOU2, because TLOU2 story shows people arnt just good or evil. Joel or Ellie werent saints, because they also killed people who had families, and Ellie has realised that during the game.

Also TLOU2 story shows multiple timelines, so narration in not just about simple revange. There are multiple times when Ellie recall the evens from the last few years and you still have to play with Joel accompany like in the first game. Such recall events explains very well many details and shows a true scope of Ellie and Joel relationship.
Yeah, I played it. And we have been here before. “Circle of violence” “real people too” blah blah. Those tropes have been done to death and in a much better way than in TLoU2.

And yeah. One note. No development. I didn’t learn anything more about what it meant to be human. Nathan Drake grew more in Uc4.

The original had so much more nuance.

Days Gone actually felt more human in its character interactions.

Is it bad? No. It’s just not nearly as powerful as the original

I'm more keen to believe in a 10/10 than a 0/10. Just speaking to how I review games I could never give a 0 to something that's so well made, it makes no sense. 0 to me means the game offended your sensibilities in some way, because unless it's Superman 64 it's hard to justify such a rating.

Reviews are almost always based on someones subjective enjoyment of a product. As much as some reviewers claim they are "objective" in reviewing, that is more often than not, not the case. This is even more true when it comes to user reviews. A game doesn't have to be completely broken to be rated 0, it just has to be completely unenjoyable for that person.

Depends on the person, I wouldn't give a game 0/10 just because it wasn't made for me.

It;s kind of back. 4.5/10 across 83000 user reviews. Score has been creeping up slowly,

But if you click the user review tab it still is a grey TBD.

I hate the direction of the story as much as the next guy but come on. Actual game itself is good. I am only 5 hours in and don't really see amazing gameplay or anything (have been told setpieces come a plenty and encounters improve a lot) but the graphics and performances are top tier. The linear areas might take crown for graphics king, but the open areas are not as good as Horizon or RDR 2 imo.

Warcraft Reforged has a user score of 0.6/10 across 30000 reviews and nobody seems to care. The last 4-5 Call of Dutys have a 3 or 4/10, and FIFA 2020 has a score of 1.1/10. They don't either.

Try to guess what all of those things have in common. Hint: they're all bad but that's not it.

Personally, user scores and user reviews on Metacritic simply shouldn't exist in my opinion because there's no way to validate any of them. All anyone has to do is log in and click a number on that rating bar. Review wise, yeah, you write a review but it could be a few sentences with a zero at the end. It's all meaningless and pointless.

Thankfully, I go by the superior site which is Open Critic.

As for the game itself, it would be better if it was NOT a sequel but as a sequel, it's simply not up to par with the first game in regards to the story, characters, narrative, writing and character development. In a lot of ways, it would have been better if they just left TLOU as a one and done.

Question: If a person gives this or any other game a zero, is it always because they are a troll or hater? Can it not be that they just did not find any enjoyment in it at all?

Bonus: Does Metacritic take into account the content within the review explanation, or do they just see a Zero and delete it?

If they are deleting 0's without checking context then screw them. But if the zero score does read like a troll attempt, then it's fair to remove the zero.

Example:
"I did not like the gameplay, story or writing of this game and here is why I am giving it a zero..."

or

"This game gets a zero because lesbians"

if you are deleting the first review, then screw you, meta. If you are deleting the second review, then I got no problem with that.

Generalizing all or most negative reviews speaks to a deep mental issue which should subject to much reflection.

You guys keep talking about this like it's like any other game. Even when other games get review bombed they don't rack up tens of thousands of scores on Metacritic. There should probably be more examination of this phenom than simply "it must be because game is bad" but there really doesn't seem to be.

Anyone review that gives this game a 0/10 should be dismissed outright. Even if you think the story is bad, the game isn't broken, gameplay itself is very good and is probably the best looking PS4 game ever.
