Pseudo price rumors concerning both variants of the PS5 console and all of the related accessories, including the Pulse 3D wireless headset and HD camera, have been posted on Twitter. The same highly spurious source claims the PlayStation 5 will be first launched in Japan on November 14 and will cost ¥49,980 (US$466) for the Blu-ray model.

They're charging extra for the plastic stand? It's not the first time, but it seemed like it was necessary on this one.

So it can be placed horizontally without the stand like in the pictures?

More like selling it in case you lost yours, same with controllers. No details of it's being excluded, and no disclaimer like previously done stating that it's sold separately. So it's more than likely included:

No disclaimer here for PS5:

Maybe the idea is that there are two different stands? The one for the horizontal position will be necessary and packed-in , while the vertical stand will be available separatily

This seems fake when has sony cared about japan pre vita, They pretty much censor all of there games into oblivion, Killed the vita which put countless jpn devs in financial trouble, moved the HQ from japan to the US. Alright so Sony is going to release the ps5 in japan 1st what is the JP market going to play on it. Also the stand, doesn't the system need the stand to lay side ways how is that not packed into the system a plastic stand it probably cost sony sub $0.05 at best to make it

I think you use the same stand for both positions.

Maybe redeeming themselves in their homeland?

notebookcheck...ugh, probably a big no if that is the source. Not able to click out to see right now, Twitter is super sketchy as well. On the flip side, everything appears to line up with what I was guessing, give or take a week on launch date.

All people are throwing guesses around, then when something sticks they claim that they have insider info. It's interesting rumor/guess anyway, kinda makes sense.

I believe it would be about 50 or less of a difference but they are probably taking a hit on the digital knowing that they will get higher margin digital purchases.

I think they will make a killing at these prices.

Indeed, maybe it's an afterthought when they heard about Lockhart. Instead of downgrading critical specs, they only went with diskless and gambled on digital sales.

I mean it plays 4k blu-rays. Seems about right to me.

That's another point as well! And UHD Blu-rays to be precise.

Digital only console will be a huge benefit for them, that's why the disk reader has a 100$ price difference, it's a bait.
Usually physical copies are cheaper than digital, and you can also resell them.
We are looking at a 7 year life span (3? if you go for the pro version?)
It's a short term gain for a long term loss, I'd definetely go for the disk version.

Did this site really call the rumor grabbed from some dude on Twitter "prodigious?" in the title?

Did they open a page of the dictionary at random to write that headline? 😂

Ture, I'm already 100% digital since late 2014, but would get the disk version just in case.

In my opinion they could even do 150 bucks less. Every digital console prevents reselling or borrowing from a friend. Especially since Sony loves making story focused singleplayer games with limited replay value, you can alwyays see tons of their exclusive games shortly after release being resold. It will pay off for Sony.

I understand they're a Japanese company. However, Japan is mobile gaming/Nintendo territory. Why launch in Japan first?

That 800gig ssd on the digital is gonna fill up quick.....and there may be even less with the os

People really gotta think about that and any external drive or internal slot drive they use may not be 100% compatible or comparable with the ps5 ssd drive speeds so games may have to run at a normal ssd speed

I think starting with the 360/PS3 era, Japanese gamers really kicked consoles to the curb. Not sure why since Japanese gamers had been big console buyers like the rest of the world generations before that. The rest of the world has a diverse set of gaming through console/PC and mobile, yet Japanese gamers seem skewed to mobile. Even Switch hasn't sold that great there and it's a hybrid console/mobile system.

$100 is nothing. Platform holders get 30% ($18) for every $60 downloaded game. They get maybe $5 disc royalty(?). So $13 extra (give or take). Nice extra profits for every digital download.

All it takes is a gamer buying a bunch of $60 games in year one and they already made it back. And even better, an all digital gamer doesn't have the risk of buying used discs which is $0 royalty fee.

However, what is a loss is someone who is going to be all digital anyway.

So instead of selling them a $500 system with a $15 disc reader ($485), they now are selling them a $400 system and subsidizing costs for a bargain priced system.

Vertical stand

$24.99 for a pieces of Plastic? From the looks of it, it'll be separate since Sony would've said in the reveal... "Vertical Stand included"
