FootballGAF 2019/2020 |OT| Does Your Team Got What It Takes To Be Crowned?

So happy to see Hendo smiling like that. It means a lot that we won with him as arguably the best player in the season (edit: for Liverpool obviously lol). Like the fanbase, he endured so much shit.

Yeah I got respect for Henderson, even as a United fan. He was a hot prospect at Sunderland, seemed to lose his way after joining Liverpool (like most others did during Liverpool's dark days), but held on and gritted his teeth, improved, and is now a bang-up captain for a PL-winning side. Gotta give the man props for that.

Defence that is all lol

You sure? Wouldn't someone that can deputize for Fernandinho also be a necessity? The dude ain't that young, and his legs ain't gonna last him forever. For City, a good CB and a midfielder that can allow KdB, BSilva and the like to concentrate on their creative offensive play would probably be a necessity, no?

Isn't that what we spent over 60m on rodri for

Barcelona players are unhappy with the decision to swap Arthur for Pjanic [cadena ser]

Yes Juventus has more to gain in best case scenario than Barcelona and less to lose in worst case scenario.

[Di Marzio] Hakimi says yes to Inter, now the two clubs will be discussing for a deal.

I'm not happy about this but he need to develop more :pie_thinking:
Maybe a loan or sell with the option to buy back then it's all good

Solskjaer vows Man Utd will give everything to go past Liverpool after being 'hurt' by title win

:pie_thinking:

A lot of teams between them. He shouldn't be worried about leapfrogging Liverpool, but getting past the other teams ahead of them in the table.

Onda Cero: There will be a buy-back clause for the first two seasons in Achraf Hakimi's deal to Inter Milan

Now it sound more reasonable for us.

There’s no buy back clause for Real Madrid in the proposed (and close to being completed) deal for Hakimi with Inter (via @FabrizioRomano)

There must be something there, if no buyback then something else :pie_thinking:

Achraf Hakimi to Inter, here we go! Total agreement for €40M + €5M add ons to Real Madrid on permanent deal. Buy back clause has never been discussed - no chance. He’ll join Inter on next week also with medicals and official announcement

I know he's still not on the level to play for Real Madrid but still he has room to improve and get there so flat out selling him with no recourse is not the best move.

Today's match against Alavés, made Simeone surpass Luis Aragones' record of wins as Atlético de Madrid's manager, with 195 wins for the Argentinian. Simeone also surpassed that record having managed Atleti for around 100 matches less than Luis Aragones.

He is doing a mighty job there but he need to do more

Bellerin can continue planting trees. The longer he's away from the football field the better.

Difference between him and Maitland-Niles (who's a makeshift right-back) is tragic.

Haha its a step in the right direction for sure

So that conclude your transfers?

How celta fucked up their last chance is beyod me :( they should've won.

Yes but we have to win anyway. It will be tough with the new manager rebound.

6000 and counting.
Is there anywhere we can actually check if he actually did it?

I’ll be sad if Gomes does end up leaving. It’s a pity because the style of football United are playing just now could suit him well. Really talented young player. His size was always going to be an issue but he’s so good on the ball that I hoped to see him break into the first team. Maybe something can be salvaged at the last minute. But the other issue is Mejbri is now on the rise and seems to be even more highly regarded than Gomes. So that may also impact his minutes in the future.

We are robbing them, that's a great exchange. I guess Barcelona was in a really bad financial situation to accept this.

He fits perfectly in Conte's three at the back formation and tactics.

His time at Dortmund, while impressive, also showed that he has severe defensive issues that get exposed when he's put as a fb/wb with four at the back. Makes sense Inter go for him.

I don't think they will make that mistake again but I will not be surprised if they did tbh.

His weak defensive performance is exactly why I don't think he'es good enough for us yet. The problem is you never know if they will improve or not so all you can do is give them time, we will see how it goes playing for Inter. Turns out Real Madrid will be prioritized if Inter is willing to sell him in the future.

Who will replace him?

Can't wait to see Robben in action again. Welcome back home.

Was his retirement a mistake? he was reluctant but did it anyway.
Do you people in the Netherlands hold him still for the world cup final chances though :pie_thinking:

Robben is considered a hero in Groningen. One of the best players we've brought forward. And make no mistake, this club has launched the careers of Koeman, Luis Suarez and Virgil van Dijk to name a few. Robben is seen as the greatest as he's a native (like Koeman, but he denied a comeback to us for Feyenoord.. and that didn't sit well).

No one really dislikes him afaik (apart from his dives early on and injuries, which were rampant) and no one takes him responsible for that miss. Casillas was just lucky that his toe denied a goal. We reached the WC 2010 final with a rather average squad. In holland lives the sentiment he was the best player of WC 2014.

If his retirement was a mistake? He felt he wasn't done, missed a huge chunk of the season. And in december he could rejoin BM because Coman was injured. But he mostly did this to help his boyhood club through this rough period and because he loves the game. There is no pressure on him if it fails.

He was one of the top players at his best for sure and did play at the top level for long so his name will be remembered for long. I wish him good luck with his new adventure to help the club. Maybe he will join the staff afterward and become a couch too.

Thank you for the insight :messenger_beaming:
