Smart move to only need one person to have the full game. That should make the cost-of-entry for multiplayer waaaay easier. I enjoyed the original game back then with the GBAs/cables; it should be a fun romp for newer players that have never heard of it.

I think the young men of the millennial and zoomer generations are being fucked over by easy access to pornography on the Internet. Yes, I know that a certain point it becomes a matter of personal choice, I recognize that we are talking about grown men here… But in a lot of ways I fear that the “choice” that they make is already baked in because they have had so much exposure to pornography during their youth. So I care about it as an issue not because I want to interfere in the sex life of any particular single man, but because I fear the effects it has societywide. I am talking about crazy incels, and the lack of children, In the seemingly aimless nature of the lives of some of the men in these younger generations.

lol what development reason are they, we just don't want too most likely.

Probably gonna be overpriced, so I'm gonna have a hard time convincing my friends to get it, I'll just skip it.

Majestic as fuck.
Can't wait for this, played it back in the day but only got so far... can someone fill me in if you get to a point where you have your own village/base? Can't remember how this goes... on that note this should be the game we make our own little villages lol

This game had cool graphics/atmosphere and an amazing soundtrack (top FF music imo) but really reeeeally boring gameplay, the dungeon crawling and combat simply aren't fun, too simple and repetitive

The DS sequels improved on the gameplay a little but of course the other areas took a hit.

I can't find an answer anywhere..but can any of you tell me if this will have AI companions to play with in single player?
In single player you have moogle to carry the chalice for you and your essentially alone.
Moogle will help to stack magic at a certain point if i remeber correctly but with other people it's easier to pull of heavier magic attacks.

It's disappointing that it doesn't have local co-op but it doesn't affect me personally since none of my gamer friends would be interested to play the game with me anyway.

That's right! I forgot Moogle was there to help. I haven't played this since around launch back in the day, thanks for the reminder. Now, if I can just remember why I quit playing it before I completed it back then, lol

Willing to try it with friends online with crossplay. Never played it before, it would be nice to try ir before buying, though.

20 second load times looooool. I loved the original, but I think I'm going to hard pass on this unless SE gets some serious QoL patching on.

I bought it in full confidence and last minute Square Enix released the info about how the game works. Absolute fucking scummy trash company. It's region locked and you only play with each other in dungeons.

So far it all seems fine to me. Loading is indeed a bit lengthy even on the Switch. Also saw this has micro transactions, skins and some weapons I think. Finding people to play with in Europe is gonna suck too, region locking is such a 2006 thing to do.

All in all, Square Enix gonna Square Enix I guess. But since the Square part forgot how to make games this is probably as good as it's going to get for me in 2020.

Even? Switch load times are almost always longer than the PS4/XBO versions.

Not on any games I've played. Just Googled to be sure but in general the load times on Switch seem to be better? Although I guess it might also depend on the quality of the storage you're using on either console.

It absolutely depends on the game, examples?
Trial of mana loads faster on switch than ps4
The opposite is true of outer worlds.

Honestly, I've played it for four hours today, and while I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who hasn't some nostalgia for it, for those of us who do it's at least pretty decentish?

No couch co-op is bullshit, and the loading times are far longer than I would've liked on Switch but it looks and plays as it should. While there's no way to do the story mode in co-op, it's easy enough to make a lobby or join a friend and co-op dungeons in any way you like. And while for me personally the co-op story mode was a large part of the magic of the original, for most people it was a hassle to get a group of friends and hardware together at the right time to make it work. I think the solution they found, while it loses some of the magic, is at least practical. Am I going to put 200+ hours in this, like I did in the original? Hell no. But it will be a solid 20 hours and I'm alright with that.

And for what it's worth, the music is still absolutely phenomenal. 10/10
