Hard to Kill
Right, seems a quiet night in here and i have caused enough mischief for one day.

Get your paws of that Ban button MOD OF WAR.

Time for some uncharted four, just got to some big cathedral in Scotland, its pretty awesome.

Hugs and peace to all of you.

Try to shoot the rock fragments on the cliff side their physic system is amazing( the part where you slide on rocks).

They got both downgraded.

The problem with Halo is that they went with a 4K60Fps target, and that's taxing for the GPU, even high end graphics card struggle with 4K60 on current gen games.
No i was not comparing halo vs ghost.

Shouldn't tax a 25 TF machine (12.5 bonus TF from ray tracing) with a 200GB/sec IO speed (multiple software decompression algorithms exceeding the hardware limitation by a 50x multiple) and god knows how many other unannounced physics defying software techniques with hardcore names. Unless Tdog and Dealer are lying to us...

To be fair this looks completely be guilt of the engine and a dev hell which probability is happening in 343.

Yeah this really should be called the "Bashing XSX, praising PS5 |OT|"

Honestly I've reading this thread since it was created and it really depends on which comments you read. Like for example when GitHub came out the thrashing was the other way around. The only reason why your seeing so much of it lately is because Microsoft just had their July event and some people are criticizing it.

Seriously? Man, most of us have been here thru all the GitHub and lack of information times and it was NOT the 'Bashing XSX, praising PS5' thread, believe me. It ebbs and flows with news or lack thereof. People were super harsh about the 12TF and 'no magical SSD will save Sony' stuff so yeah, with some negative feedback on a showcase conference some are getting a little back. Not that big of a deal though. Bottom line, there's still WAY too much that we DON'T know about both of these consoles. As I've mentioned before, how their memory and bandwidth will affect performance, hell even what REAL WORLD performance differences will we be able to see from both systems SSD's and I/O. No real solid info on backwards compatibility (at least on the Sony side) and not from MS either on what is supposed to be enhanced BC. Ray tracing performance- another huge area we don't know about. Most of us felt there will be little to no RT evident on pretty much any title, but we've been surprised so far to see it shown on a LOT of titles. How that works and how it really impacts performance, we don't know.

So as you can see, there's lots of speculation to go yet and, if you're so inclined, probably plenty of opportunities to crow about the various aspects of your favorite box as we DO learn more. Just hang in there. It's not worth getting emotionally invested in a product like these are so take it with a grin and a shrug and you'll feel a lot better.

Nah the RDX crew just spit FACTS brother ,🤔🙄. They get in party chats with Phil they know EVERYTHING. Imagine Jim Ryan just popping up in a party chat.
Wait, so it wasn’t even native 4K?
I hope not it sounds like such a waste of resources anyway. Imo we are fine with 1440 checkerboard or alternatives to it. I know Xbox PR always go on about 4k, TRUE 4K, 4K UNCOMPRIMISED, however if they dropped that I would be happy. Better visuals and frames beats the minute difference native 4k brings imo.

Apparently not but that could change closer to launch.

Now the real question is if it does have a dynamic resolution how far does it drop?

Well, also the question is- do we really care? Even the DF team has several times now brought up that since they often can't tell the difference between native 4k and dynamic...sometimes even 1440p...does it really matter? Unless and until we can look at something and say 'wow, that native 4k set of graphics is far superior to this other one' then I don't really think it matters much. I think most people would probably wish to have a steady 60fps to their games and have them look fantastic rather than quibble about whether it's Native 4k or not. At least that's what it seems to me from what I see and read from people. The whole native 4k thing seems more about fanboy points than any real world benefit that I've seen so far. Maybe I'm wrong.

Youre right and there is no disputing that. I would add that it is mostly because MS was saying so many things basically adding up to prepare to have your mind blown and literally saying be ready for a night full of mic drop moments.

saying that, if that doesn’t happen,.. well, there is a reaction based on what happens when the perception is that the company was just full of hot air.

Sure, there was good stuff in there, but... in business there is a good rule to follow. Under promise and over deliver. That did not happen.

How are load times in Days Gone?

That's a game in my backlog I might wait until PS5 to play.

Days Gone is fantastic, but the one thing that bothered me were the load screens before cutscenes. It's jarring going from gameplay, to an unexpected black screen with 4-5 second loading, and then into a cutscene. Here's an example of what I'm talking about if you don't mind first hour cutscene spoilers:

Unfortunately I don't think that's anything PS5 can fix.

Well I guess we shouldn't care about dynamic resolution unless it's noticeable. Barely anyone will notice a slight drop but the farther the resolution falls the more noticeable it will be. This goes for any game using a dynamic resolution BTW.

That's what they should have done. What I found kind of strange is that they were hyping up this event until a few days before it. Really weird how they started to temper people's expectations at the last minute.

The reality check will come when PS5 games would look better because of usage of GE and smart architecture around SSD. I stil think the most precious leak we've get is that guy from Cryctek. The differencd between 2 systems is marginal, 2 times smaller than between XOX and PRO. They would look almost exactly the same and you can BAN ME IF SONY EXCLUSIVE WOULDNT BE BEST LOOKING GEN NEXT GENERATION.

I think the gap between the Sony exclusives and everything else grows this generation. Sony made the perfect console for their high production value graphically intense games. Decima and the other in-house engines will take full advantage to the new technology first. Sony's first parties will be competing with themselves this generation. Day's Gone 2 (probably on UE5), God of War, HZD 2, Sucker Punch's next title, and Naughty Dog's next title are going to move the industry forward. I'm also excited about the new San Diego studio.

Yup, it's "Dynamic 4K". But hey, Alex doesn't care, why should we? :lollipop_smirking:

You know...a question I've been thinking of is...if we're at the point already where even at NON-native 4k groups like DF can't count the pixels and tell what some things are.... what will be the difference when we get to where everything is 8k? I mean really...what's the material difference? If there IS a difference, will it be prohibitively expensive to product those full 8k graphics for these games? Not to mention the storage requirements, which we're already getting cramped by.

I'm thinking the only savior to both developers as well as hardware manufacturers and gamers will be Machine Learning and it's ability to upscale graphics properly. Then devs could stick with 4k assets or even lower and have the systems upscale the graphics for the gamers. Is that about the only way we're realistically going to get 8k as a standard in the industry for now? Thoughts? That's way simplifying things but I'm really curious what others think about this.

You can feel/see it, but they don't want to, many have exposed 720p VRS spots, actually it can get extreme on the distant trees that look even below 144p. :lollipop_tears_of_joy:

I LOVED the game. The environments were alive and the AI was great. I think Bend is the studio to watch this generation. They were knocking at the door with this title. The sequel using UE5 with no load times could be the massive leap we saw from Uncharted to Uncharted 2. This was their first huge title. They heard the feedback, I expect the sequel to impress!

PS5 could remove the load screen entirely.
I’m holding out to replay it again when PS5 lands.

I don't heard good things about that game, just average which is fine.

If played someday will be for see those graphics.

It's just both at the moment... XSX is the most powerful console so all 3rd party games will play best on it. Game Pass is a system seller that increases the value of the XSX even more.

But if I have to choose between XSX that plays 3rd party games a bit better or PS5 that has their own exclusives AND the Xbox games with Game Pass then the choice is easily made.
It's far from fact that 3rd party games will play better on XSX. I think UE5 games will run better on PS5. I don't think Sony is done talking about the hardware innovations...let's wait to call it until we see 3rd party games.

Wait so The Medium doesn't actually do any seamless transitions between worlds? You're playing in both worlds at the same time?

Yeah that what I thought with this 2 worlds BS. They need to play it on HDD PC's or SATA3 at least. It's already showing extreme LOD's latency for a very tiny part of view.

Don't take things too seriously, most of us are just messing around and having fun.

I think we don't really see both worlds at the same time and you can switch between the two at the touch of a button, I think they were just demonstrating how it works showing both at the same time, if it does show splitscreen shit, its stupid and is nothing special at all.

There is actual footage showing seamless transitional worlds on the fly. You also play both worlds at the same time. Both appear to be in the game.

I learned a lot from it as well,

My son got his first platinum at 5 yrs old... Lego Jurassic World..
He decided he wanted to collect all the dinosaurs then decided he wanted 100%... We worked together about an hour each night and did it.
It was work, it wasn't easy...

He learned goal setting and working to achieve something..

He prefers sports over video games unfortunately, but to this day sets goals for himself and works hard at them.. That is a very hard thing, but the most important thing you can teach a kid.

It's not even fair to say that those who say games are waste of time are boomers, I've been gaming with a 64 years old guy in The Division in 2016. Some old folks didn't mind setting for hours playing chess.

Also, this came after their 3rd party "gameplay" event fell flat in its face.

Sony does something badly, it’s a bash PlayStation, praise Xbox thread. Microsoft does something badly, it’s a bash Xbox, praise PlayStation thread.

And around and around it goes.

The only really bad take you can have on it all is that one console is favoured too much over the other. It’s all about what information comes out from the game companies, we just react to it.

If you have a beef, it’s always with the companies that have let you down, not your fellow gamers 👍

As oppose to the 2-3 seconds loading portals in the Ratchet Demo?

Total worlds? Man, The Medium shift is just like the transition between two doors on PS1, not entire worlds. It's still a very compact room with lots of fog to hide details while transitioning. It can't even fucking load a tiny switch graphics quickly enough:

Is that switch 1-2GB in size? It can barely pass as current gen asset with those rough-edged circles.

To me this is the news of the day, if not easily one of the coolest PS5 new feature revealed so far, as a Fighting game player, being able to go straight from console dashboard to Rank Match should be something really cool in terms of comfort.
