Huge sale going on (BC games included) right now.
The 4 original Xbox Splinter Cell games are on sale for the first time since being added in the final update, and Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands. For any interested.

Aliens vs Predator as well, not sure if first time but first time for me.

I just got a lot updates (600mb each ) on Xbox360 games on the X, including Final Fantasy 13, Left 4 Dead etc. I wonder what they updated.

Seeing the error of my ways in installing nearly 400 BC games while having a slow download speed. They keep putting updates for BC games 40-50 at a time the last couple weeks.

I bet with these updates they're playing them on Scarlett right now.

When they update the emulator you always get these mass updates.

Hey I have a few questions. From time to time I like to drag my old 360 from the closet to play Gears1,2,3, The Darkness2007, Gta IV (like it better than pc version), Saints Row1 since it's nowhere else, edf2017 and few more games.
They all run very bad and always did. But I have such a nostalgia for 360 that I cannot let it go! And it's such a hassle!
-It's loud (Delta fans)
-It's a banned console - yes, I've played halo 4 I think before release and they banned me... And I have all games original boxed versions. Just broken street date.
-The cables are a mess. It's fat model so I the brick is huge. I run hdmi to monitor and separate rca to 3.5mm to speakers aux. With xbox one I could just do controller or hdmi+audio splitter
-The drive is failing

At this point, it's probably best to wait for xsex but maybe I could just get S to get these games to run as vanilla as possible (original resolution) but with vsync and stable framerate.
My favs are Gears trilogy and the Darkness. I don't want the ultimate gears 1 version too since it's not what I remember. And the pc gears1 sucks and I always disliked added Brumak level.
I have 4k monitor and like the idea of running old games on X in 4k but from the games I've listed it's probably only gears 2 and 3 (which is making it worth it when I say it... just shame gears1 never got 4k treatment).
Is gta iv bc vanilla or is it also removing the music? If so, the only real version I've played in 2008, is still on 360.

Also - I was really hoping for pc releases of halo games to have split screen but sadly no. We were waiting for some time to replay all halo games and we finished 1 anniversary on my old 360 today.... it was painful. The game is below 20fps most of time. My halo2 disc won't play since my console is banned and the bc requires it. It's a mess

The Xbox One S will play those, yes. Whether you want to do that or wait for Series X is up to you. Since your 360 is banned I'm guessing your saves aren't in the cloud, so you'll have to start fresh, though. For the games you have on disc, just stick the disc in and let it download the game, it will run off the hard drive but you still need the disc to authenticate. If you bought the game digitally, it will be in your library assuming you're using the same account.

If money isn't an issue, I'd hold on for the Xbox Series X. There is a chance that more 360 titles will be running in 4K if that's important to you. They've shown a clip of Gears 1 Ultimate being boosted from 1080p to 2160p.

There is nothing I would love more than whole Gears trilogy 4k60 on pc... And the Darkness 2007 but that is not happening.
As for now, Gears 2 and 3 are 4k30 on X and probably on SEX. Gears 1 is 720p, solid 30 so still better than my real 360. Anyone tested The Darkness?

Btw - After finishing Halo 1 anniversary (swapping old/new graphics) on 360 in split screen today, I've installed MCC on PC.... OMG. 4k60fps, super smooth, amazing graphics with no jaggies whether it's classic or updated mode. And the CROSSHAIR IN THE MIDDLE OMG I'VE WANTED THIS FOREVER. Can crosshair be switched to middle position on xbox one MCC versions too? Such a shame no local coop
I've also launched and played a bit of Reach. Holy crap it still looks so good and also runs like a dream. 4k60 and utilizing only 45% of 2070 to get there.
There is only one problem with pc MCC halo games I've noticed so far - There is stutter/constant wrong framepacing if I run locked 58fps with RTSS which I do to always stay in my monitor 40-60hz freesync range.

At this point I'd recommend waiting for the Series X. These backwards compatible games will run better & look better than ever, for console anyway.

The One X is a great piece of hardware, but I'd wait.

You can easily snag a used One X in the $220ish range if you don't want to wait.
I second this. The One X is amazing for BC.

Btw I don’t know if it’s in this thread but I can confirm Ultra SF4 installs if you have the USF4 original disc. You don’t need to do DLC ontop of Arcade shenanigans.

the Xbox One X is the absolute best backwards compatibility machine, even if the game doesn't have an Xbox One X patch.
the One X will bruteforce through most of the performance issues these games have.

look at GRAW for example:

this is unpatched. the reason I think the game suddenly runs at 60 is that the forced Vsync of the Xbox One BC mode somehow breaks the framerate lock. since even in super simple scenes the 360 doesn't jump to 60 like it would if it was double buffered.
and as you can see, even tho the One S also pushes the game way above 360 performance, the One X gives it that extra amount of stability.

same in GRAW 2

and here is what happens when you unlock the framerate in the options in Bioshock on a base Xbox One... again, the One X will further stabilize this:

the extra bit of CPU power and the massive boost in GPU power both do wonders to make BC games push through eventual emulation overhead.

even in games that mostly run perfect on base Xbox One and even 360, the One X will push that to basically a perfect lock. as seen in this comparison with Modern Warfare 2:

the game usually runs almost locked in most scenes, but the scenes seen in the video at 4:02 is really pushing the hardware, but as you can see, the One X simply doesn't drop any frame there and has a perfect 16.66MS frame delivery when both the 360 and the One S drop as low as 44fps, most likely due to CPU limitations.

with that being said, the Series X will most likely push games like GRAW and other games with either unlocked framerates or options to unlock them (like Bioshock 1-3) to a perfect 60fps. the massive CPU boost the Series X has over the One S and One X + the massive GPU boost will most likely even push famously awfully optimized games like GTA 4 to near perfect 60fps. the One X is JUST a tiny bit too far away from that 60fps mark... so the Series X should push this to a place where you'd be hard pressed to notice drops if there are any left at that point.

Just finished my first playthrough of Enslaved: Odyssey to the West this weekend. I missed it on release. Maybe because 2010 was an absolute monster of a year in gaming. Always heard good things though & it turns out the rumours were true. It's a lot of fun. Monkey & Trip were cool characters. I'd be down for a sequel.

Oh just noticed that my favorite the Darkenss is bc !!! and plays at higher framerate than 360 original version.
So now I can have all my fav 360 games (gears trilogy, saint's row games, darkness, crackdown) all playable at stable 30fps, vsync and sometimes 4k. great...
I have a lot of 360 games and still use it probably more than ps4 (still use pc most of time) to either play some of my favs or play in co-op. Does local split screen co-op works in bc ?
I like the idea of 4k gears 2 and 3 but there is something appealing to playing those games with absolutely vanilla, original visuals, all at 720p but this time with vsync and stable 30fps. If all of those games were 4k... then there would be no discrepancy between the titles.

Btw - Anyone know is Gta IV bc on one has removed music if I use my original 360 disc? I suspect the xbox live version don't have the original music
As I've explained in other topic - I like xbox version of gta iv since that bloom, depth of field and colors are all lost on pc + pc bugs.
Also - seems old consoles are now the only way to play fully vanilla Dark Souls 2 without sotfs patch.

I also wonder how are they doing the simulation and how faithful it is. Do the games still use MSAA (many 360 games did), is the af injected? are there new bugs and graphical errors.

Some 360 games starting to be listed on the Xbox One store so you can pay normally. Also some previously delisted games are being listed again, but some already already delisted again. So stay on your toes if you want them.

I hope they relist the first Forza Horizon.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

Awesome - picked up Silent Hill. I know it's a terrible game, but eh.

Hopefully the rest of the BC games follow suit soon, being able to buy BC games with store credit is something I've wanted for a few years now.

Something is up. Noticed it with Psychonauts being free on Xbox One but not 360

Also check your Ready To Install lists. Some 360 games a duplicated. Like Toy Story 3

Which would mean you can now use store credit to buy 360 games I would hope.
I used store credit earlier to buy Silent Hill: Downpour. Worked great.

Someone on Reddit mentioned, that if you buy the games now on the Xbox One store, that you wont be able to play it on a X360 as before.
So we only get a license for the BC version and not, as before, for X360 and BC.
Is that true?

Additionaly, what does this mean to the 360 itself? Will they shutdown XBL?
