Halo Infinite in Dreams is the closest thing to Halo on PlayStation

Halo: Infinite is coming to Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, and....Dreams. Granted, the Dreams version isn't strictly official.

Dreams creator Disarmed shared their very own take on the Halo universe inspired by last week's Halo Infinite gameplay debut, driven by one thought: how strange it would be to have Halo on PlayStation. If their Dreams level is any indication, it would be a little strange at first, but then mostly just great. Really great.

The level as it stands now is a walk through a lovely, lush forest, with Master Chief's assault rifle in the foreground and the rest of the Halo installation stretching off over the horizon in the background. The intro screen even has some of that trademark Gregorian chanting, though the level itself judiciously opts for some distant bird sounds instead.

Disarmed told me that the creation took four days in total to make, starting with designing the scenery, then optimizing it, then making the start menu, assault rifle, and HUD all work right. As for future additions, they "might have something planned" if it gets enough interest and, well, here we are. They also hope to publish the creation for all Dreams players to try out in the future, but that will depend on how future work proceeds.

Dreams now has PlayStation VR support, so you can fully immerse yourself in the Seinfeld horror.

I hate these clickbait dreams videos, can we just stop posting them?

Zelda in dreams
Mario in dreams
Pokemon in dreams
Halo in dreams

*Watches video*

(Static world made in an art style that's representative of the original title, but has zero gameplay at all.)

The artist who made this level is super talented and has a great grasp on the tool set of Dreams, but it's ridiculous to say this is anything approaching an actual Halo game

I'm expecting DMCA takedowns soon like the Mario clones all supposedly got.

Mario, Sonic, Mickey, Shrek, Homer, Wario, Spiderman etc all thrive in Dreams, as in all fanbases. There's nothing you can do to stop users when you give them a very capable and fully featured digital pen. You delete their sketches, they just give the finger to Disney, Nintendo or whatever dick lawyers and start over...

Where's the Gameplay?

Seems like a random Forrest and they just slapped a Halo gun in it. And all you do is walk and look around.

Good. I like the creativeness of people. Just hope the publishers chill out.

looks good, Martin's take doubly so. But obviously it's not a full game, not a large map and entirely missing all the Halo action.

Dreams is very capable, but hobby creators have limited (time) budget. I don't fool myself that full AAA user games are what Dreams is for. I love it for the dreamsurfing thing: they all load very fast, 10 seconds at worst, so you just play after another: digital paintings, short animations, game levels, full games, specially platformers, FPS and puzzle narratives... from the lamest to the most polished and impressive, it's all good.

And besides, I've long dabbled in hobbyist CG-making, with pov-ray and Blender in the past - for modeling by sculpting, painting, lighting and quick animation, Dreams is the most revolutionary thing ever in consumer space. It's just mind-blowing.

We need Dreams on pc. Such wasted potential.
You have a bajillion other more powerful tools to use on PC that allow complete flexibility and control over your game creation. There's no wasted potential. Dreams is Mario Maker to PC's engine development kits and Visual Studio.

Except there's no true program on pc where you don't need c++ or equivalent.

Just imagine if .01% of the developers making PC stuff were on Dreams. There just aren't that many Dreams makers yet.

But even still, the amount of games being made by 1-2 is incredible.

Name a single console tool that could do something like this. You have to at least admit there is progression in console development tools.

Are you seriously comparing roblox with dreams?

Uf.
I mean it is the most comparable thing on PC. It's really just a simplified engine, only everything needs to revolve around plastic block characters.

I have a feeling you've never messed around with Roblox Studio.
