Not even if they opened up the iOS platform? I use Macs and iPhones because the alternatives not only have the same restrictions for the most part, the alternatives are also complete garbage. Not the very best of options unfortunately.

Then I would, yes.

Has the potential to end up better for consumers, as we see with something like GamePass flat out being locked out.

Im not completely sure think a corp A vs corp B trial will benefit consumers. It could be the case, but I think the response should come from govs in the form of anti-trust cases.

from the above:

"Epic is not seeking monetary compensation from this Court for the injuries it has suffered. Nor is Epic seeking favorable treatment for itself, a single company. Instead, Epic is seeking injunctive relief to allow fair competition in these two key markets that directly affect hundreds of millions of consumers and tens of thousands, if not more, of third-party app developers."

I get that Apple controls a large share of the market, but it sounds as though Epic made this change randomly and without consulting Apple. There is a fee to using the store as a digital front. I will agree that more competition will create a better product, but Epic and its store has had problems with security and privacy in the past.

Seems like an empty threat lawsuit. They just want to put back on the store. I bet Apple stands stiff on this one for a few days, then one will cave.

Yeah google and apple are in the wrong but epic knew the terms when they signed up and agreed to them so epic just as bad in my opinion

Wow, assholes asking for ransom (oh, and Google is much milder at it, but good try) and the victim are "as bad".

Tencent Tim getting big mad. The guy built his company and career on ripping off more successful games and genres. 30% is a big cut for IAP and should be changed, but I am way against having anything other than the Apple App Store on my phone to install and purchase any software. I don't want 3rd party stores on my mobile devices.

Yeah, stupid fucks.
And Microsoft dared develop that streaming service without consulting Apple.
Oh, and Stadia thing too, without asking Apple.

Surely it is not a-ssholery, but something wrong with Microsoft and Google.

Oh, and please Epic, make it less obvious. Respond with a 65+ page lawsuit less than an hour after the ban?
Spotify filed before them.

But epic wanted to gain access to the high user base of apple and google so that was the terms they signed up for. Remember its only just about company’s making money

Can't fault Apple tbh. You gotta pay the piper...

1/3 of your profits is not paying the piper, its getting piped by the piper :messenger_tears_of_joy:

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
Meh, let them fight.

Years ago we were bitching about micro transactions, now we have accepted them and are defending the king of micro transactions who bullies other platforms thanks to their CCP backed investment.

Fuck the both of them.

Yeah, that's what Besoz said.
"Oh, we stole the idea, undercut tham and are now selling that stuff... so what, they signed up to selling on our platform, so it implies that stuff".

Absolutely totally no problem.

PS
Dear god, I am disgusted with this thread...

All they got from the said overlords was letting it be one of the HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF APPS in some store.

Yeah but epic were happy to sign up that contract to the terms and conditions. I ain’t saying its right the 30% both google and apple take but epic could of said nah not putting the game on there

And stop mentioning Apple and Google as if they are the same: THEY ARE NOT, android phones can connect to other stores.

Apple level assholery is unprecedented.

Epic was as happy to sign up that contract, as The Standard Oil customers were "happy" to buy overpriced gas from sole provider.

One of my relatives publishes a small app which makes a reasonable amount in dlc content, each month, he said he literally wouldnt be able to afford to pay his bills if he published his app on Apple‘s store because of the commission.

It's because gaas now matters for some, way more than traditional games.

Honestly you are right... Fuck them both. Apple sucks and Epic too.

Again epic had the choice not to put it on the store. They were happy to put it there to gain userbase and make millions off the trasactions

Seems like a giant middle finger to Apple and Google.
Also if you look epic not being as nice as everybody is saying , look at the prices. Apple takes 30% and epic charging 7.99 so they just getting more money

I see both sides to this.

on one hand it’s a shitty thing to cut people out of a game because of the platform they’ve chosen to have, and on the other it’s Apple’s platform and they can do what they want to. They won’t lose money from it, so probably don’t care.

I mean, I get that what Apple is doing is greedy. But if you are going to use its platform, no matter if you are Epic, Microsoft or whatever, you should play with their rules.
Or not, and do a lawsuit.
But this was clearly planned from the beginning. They did it on purpose, kind of a gaf suicidal account strategy to fire the lawsuit right next to that.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

At peak, we process tens of thousands of transactions per minute across the globe.

Assuming that a good portion of those transactions are on iOS, and Apple gets 30% of those, yeah it's safe to assume Apple is going to lose a shit load of money by delisting Fortnite. Whether it's enough money for Apple to care or not...

I'm not an Apple user, but in this case I'm on Apple's side.
Their device, their ecosystem, their operating system and that's it.
Don't like it? Go make your own.
Fucking commie cucks "eeeh memememe you need to eeeh you need to good faith fair play let me in fuck your IP"
No one forces Epic to be on AppStore. They have all the freedom as long as they can back it up.
Fight me I'm the ultimate hater of communism mate.
