EA Play included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate at no additional cost

So this is cool and all.

But, in the U.K. at least, PS+ add PS Now and EA Play (£120/year) is cheaper than Gamepass Ultimate (£132/year).

I imagine Sony have a bit of room for manoeuvre on this.

PC games became insanely affordable and easy to get. Good. (Customers are getting fucked in the ass with ingame micro transactions and P2W mechanics. Bad.) Still, can't be mad about low entry point and having more free games. Good on Microsoft.

I hope PS+ and other PS services will pick up the ball which they dropped so hard this gen. Good on MS for putting pressure on Sony.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
So. I've heard of EA play bit is it just deals on games? None of the ads make it very clear.

This link is in the OP, but it's a list of all games coming to Game Pass as part of this announcement:

That's impressive, well done Xbox/GP/EA. There is already a list of games I want to download and play, especially without paying full price as I never wanted to buy these games at launch prices -
  • Anthem
  • Battlefield V
  • FIFA19
  • Plants vs Zombies BfN
  • NFS Heat
  • Mirror's Edge Catalyst
  • Dragon Age Inquisition
That's insane value adding. Kudos.

Considering PS+ only gives you a few games each month vs whole library available to choose from on GamePass, I think Sony would have a solid argument if they change.

Don't waste your time on Battlefield V. Anthem is basically dead too. Probably worth a download just for it's amazing gameplay and coop campaign with a friend.

This could be absolutely massive for Xbox in Europe seeing as how it'll naturally spill over to the FIFA games. And obviously, it'll be huge for them here in the States as well.

Series S really does look positioned well to do big in America and even big in places where Xbox has struggled this gen like most of Europe, and Japan. But it's not so much Series S alone helping with that; a lot of this can be credited to their moves with Gamepass initiatives like tying in EA Play with them (at first I thought this was just for old EA games so it seemed worthless but apparently you can play the newest releases through the service on 10-hour trails which is actually pretty massive a thing to be able to do) and Xcloud.

My next-gen eyes are still mostly focused on PS5 and Series X (and more recently, 3080), but I can see how Series S is justifying its presence in MS's ecosystem and that's a very good thing.

You would have to look up what the base EA PLAY gets you. i think you get early beta stuff. But you dont get the games as they release day to date like you do with EA PLAY PRO.

Notice they showed old games in that montage, all of those are in the vault which comes with what base EA PLAY is.

Oof I hope the free new-release 10-hour trails are included here or MS finds a way to have that be the case. If not, it kills a lot of the appeal of this move imo.

Because as you say, without that it'd mainly just be the backlog and I know at least for sports games, very few people play the previous iterations over the new ones when the new ones are available.

Like this is ridiculous. GP continues to amaze me. Looked through the EA games list and there’s a few I’m interested in even though I’m not the biggest fan or their portfolio. Great news.

PS+ is comparable to Games with Gold. PS Now is the Gamepass equivalent and has nearly three times as many games as Gamepass - about 700 compared with 246.

Fat Frog

I advertised for Google Stadia
Partnership with EA in the West: Check.

Partnership with Sega in Asia:
Sega Virtual Arcade Center included in the gamepass through Fog Gaming. (most Sega Arcade games playable at home on Serie S or X.)Save the Arcade industry, save the XBox. Do it, Phil or you ain't black ;)

Papa having a stroke over the values

How am I having a stroke when I've literally saying what your getting? Your getting Beta//Trial of new madden/fifa for 10 hours then everything else is vault games. Added bonus is discount on EA titles.

It's a great value if you like going back to play some stuff you missed out on like Titanfall 2 which is has an amazing campaign and a pretty dead multiplayer that was great but hardly anyone playing it now.

I get i might be in the minority on here, but most games in the vault outside of couple need for speed and battlefield I had already owned when I had the service.

I never used it outside of a couple titles.

If you want to prop playing a bunch of older games, then go ahead.

EA PLAY is added to gamepass and not EA PLAY PRO for a reason.

I mean it’s EA.

I don’t think any EA games are of interest to me. Maybe except the NBA2k games which I buy like once every 5 years.

So, even someone as unimpressed as you would still get a couple of titles for FREE! Whoopee! Everyone wins!

I cry about SonyGaf from my chair in Redmond, WA
It's on both. And you have to have ULTIMATE to get EA PLAY. Which covers both PC//Xbox.
As far as I can see, pc doesn't require game pass ultimate. On the Gamepass page it says the pc version of game pass (not ulti) gives access to ea play as well.
Wait

Does this mean Battlefield 6 will be free at launch on gamepass?
No only if you have the big version of EA play. You can try it for free for 10 hours though.
Or they just don't like most of the library/older games. Otherwise according to your definition the vast majority of people who actually play games 'aren't gamers' then 😬.
Ding ding PlayStation fan boy spotted. Don't feed the war by replying to him.

Also it's pretty shitty that EA does not put there games without microtransatcions, that's why Fallen Order is not there.

Holy shit, what's up with these obvious trolls in here?! Why enter a thread just to shit on something you're either jealous of or don't care for? This will be a good, FREE addition to what you're already paying for with game pass.

Now if they are willing to pay me to play their s***y microtransaction ridden yearly releases games I might consider it (for the right amount of money)

Well that's a great addions.
That means I no longer must insert the DVD if I want to play Mass Effect 2 & 3^^

But well, even EA has some gems in their collection.

The way it's worded, looks like Xbox gamepass for PC members get EA play for free, without needing Ultimate. Crazy value for $5.

"Ultimate members can enjoy EA Play on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Windows 10 PCs, and Xbox Game Pass for PC members get EA Play on Windows 10."

It's on both. And you have to have ULTIMATE to get EA PLAY. Which covers both PC//Xbox.

Edit: Well, the price of PC game pass is going up to $10 now that it's coming out of beta. But yeah, still awesome for PC only gamers.

I love all the reactions to playing a bunch of old ass games in EA'S vault.

"Microsoft is killing it", Gamepass isn't legal.

Sure what ever floats your boat. If you want to play their games with all the MT bullshit like Battlefront 2, BFV, and last years fifa/madden.

I mean to have access at no added cost is great.

But these are all vault games. Not like your getting new stuff that will have a player base.

Player base for a lot of the older shooters are dead.
I literally licked this post before I drank my Corona with lime for the salty intro. Thanks champ! Mmmmm..
