Cindy Walker(Xbox): “Having Halo at launch would have been tremendous, but we are not reliant on massive exclusive titles to drive console adoption.''

True, but you can't convince 50 million people to change sides without a proper lineup of exclusive next gen games. I mean that's how they lost this gen. Gamepass and all...

That may or may not be true, but that's not what the article is about.

I know it’s just amazing to see people complaining like Sony has this massive line up of first party titles ready to go besides spider man. Not to mention all those third party titles will probably perform better on series x. Both consoles launch are abysmal at best there wont be true next gen games till next fall the earliest. I just find it amusing when you have people saying there’s nothing to plAy on Xbox but both companies have the same launch lineup at this point.

So which is it? Most people will buy the Series S or most Xbox gamers will buy the Series X for the best performing 3rd party games? You can't have it both ways!

XsX ios going to be a big driver for this holiday for xbox for sure. But just think if they had halo and something like avowed ready at launch.

Not nearly as much as GP. They have been very clear on this. Only fanboys are confused.

Really? Cause I hear Phil talk a lot about wanting to be #1, competing, and selling consoles....

It just depends on what day it is whether MS supposedly doesn’t care about moving consoles or not...

You're right. But what about launch, launch window, and the first year of games combined?

I consider the first year, give or take, to be "launch" (or launch window). I stand by my sentiment - the 'war' is rarely decided in the first year.

Dear Xbox management,
You cant rely on your back catalog forever, because it is by definition a thing that already exists. Its finite, and so is its shelf-life as a driver for platform adoptation.

What are you thinking?

But who wants it if they don't have any first party bangers?

They made the disc-less SAD and could not even move them at a $150 fire sale even with GP. Why? No 1st party bangers like they had in the 360 era.
I guess we'll find out won't we. If it doesn't sell MS was wrong. I think it will sell fine.

My guess is that this is preemptive damage control for whatever Sony May announce today. I don’t think we’re going to get the megatons some of us expect but I’d like to be wrong.

They can shut up. Simple, even Jim Ryan understood active and direct PR was not his strongest suit and he shut the f* up.

I agree with that. Just shut up at this point. You have a games console, of course you rely on those games to sell it. Its fucking ridiculous.

But lets be honest here, both xsx, xss and ps5 will be sold out this holiday. So at this very moment, Halo being there or not wont matter because you wont be able to find one this holiday either way. Its next year that you start needing games.

Why is it that every thread with XBOX in the title, it's full of the same people that were never going to buy anything XBOX just because it's XBOX. One must wonder, why something you care so little about triggers you so much.
But it's okay. You are all loved. Even SlideshowBo.

I find it strange that they're leaning on the BC angle, since the XSS won't play X1X upscaled versions of BC games. In other words, their BC gaming catalog is actually worse next gen than it is this gen. Yet they're trying to sell people on next gen, based on a BC solution that's inferior to current gen (at least as far as XSS goes)?

I think you know the answer to your question there haha

Regardless it does still suck that there's not many really compelling launch games this coming gen (on either side). I'm still getting a Series X at launch to replace my OG Xbox One but it would have been nice to have a good few shiny new launch games to play on it.

Again, I'm quite sure Microsoft doesn't really care what a small minority of Sony-fans think of their messaging. Those fans were never going to buy an Xbox in the first place, no matter the messaging.
Back in 2007-2010, I was a sony fanboy and I dedicated my self to make fun of xbox, yet I still bought xbox 360 just to see why people are attached to it, i played Alan wake, gears, halo3, Fable 2, bioshock, splinter cell, forza 2..etc

Even though I still thought that the ps3 line up were far more impressive, I still had a good time with these xbox games because they were unique and new to me. They were not game pass games, they were trying to compete with Sony.

So really, you are just harming the xbox brand when you allow Microsoft to downplay exclusives. Gamepass will not save xbox, it will save Microsoft's pocket. All you gonna get is gamepass "exclusives" not (the old school hype level xbox exclusives), there is a difference..

(Psst. I’m buying a Series X. Probably before a PS5. I like the hardware and aesthetics better. Fanboy generalizations, wars, and an emotional state of mind, don’t serve anyone)
Your affiliation isn't the point. Its just the mindset around here when it comes to Sony and MS.

I'm not sure that's xbox marketing bullshit. That could simply be the culture at xbox is completely delusional, considering that gameplay video 343i released. They clearly don't care anymore. Worse, they seemed proud of it.

How the could have one of the biggest franchises of all time, with a console brand literally on the ropes the last 7 years, and place all that trust in 343i? Okay, fine, you trust them again, but without being overbearing and making sure halo is ready? That never happened. It took gamers around the world, not Sony trolls, xbox fans, telling them to go back to the drawing board. What a fucking disaster. 5 years of development and hype trailers for something that looked like Halo 4 running in a forge map. This is literally worse than the TV 2013 reveal.

I think what you mean to say is that with Halo out of the launch, it frees up airways to talk about the value of gamepass and BC on your new system.

Games that we want arent hitting as fast as they used to or we want them to. When the time comes 10 hours after you finish Miles Morales, the PS5 looks like it is on track to work like a PS4 at best. With zero interest in the first 3 years (that final fantasy wont hit, persona wont hit, and everything else is likely on Xbox), I am excited to buy a PS5 pro that is not on fire holiday 2023.

Well, it was certainly the point a second ago! : P

For sure, though. I won’t point to any side, but there’s a lot of fanboys. Comes with the territory of being able to express yourself and your ideas freely, and normally, as opposed to other sites, I suppose.

I just recommend not letting them get to you. Ignore them, or learn to just take it from where it comes from. It’s all too easy to open fire on someone just making a normal comment, when they get in your head.

And to be fair, I can be harsh on Xbox, but that’s because post-One X, I really like the brand.

Nintendo seem to do ok :D

Yes because they have a surplus of blue-chip characters and franchises established over 4 decades, Xbox doesn't.
They have by far the weakest back-catalog of the big 3 and have always struggled to establish banner IP.

The circumstances that led them to success in the 360 era had little to do with their software line-up being better than their competitors, and things have not improved in this regard over the last decade - in fact, if anything its gotten worse.
