PlayStation 5: Nov 12 / Nov 19 - $399/$499

The 400€ price just made the Series S irrelevant. Final Fantasy 16 as a console exclusive is a big win for Sony.
This show clearly differentiates one company that knows what it's doing and wants to win (Sony), and another company that has no idea what to do with their console business (Microsoft).

If anyone had any doubts, that 399€/499€ price tag put a nail on the Xbox Series.

Man I regret going physical this gen. Now I’m stuck with these fuckin discs and 499$ price tag. I wish there was a way to trade in physical for digital for backwards compatibility

You're not looking at the bigger picture this has made no impact on series S at all. It will still be selling out like hot cakes, remove the fanboy glasses.

did anyone get a good look at the backside ports? looked like there were +2 USB ports, then I'm guessing LAN + PSVR

Well the event was decent, top 3 picks?

1) demon souls
2) FF16
3) Spiderman miles Morales

Resident evil 8,five nights at freddys, fortnite, CoD, DMC5 and the PS plus thing all very underwhelming.

God of war 2 will be GOTY 2021... and also a special mention for Hogwarts, if its an open world rpg type game then itll be great, just hope it isn't like Destiny/Avengers.

Also the price is good and what i expected, gg sony!

Now Microsoft just needs to reduce the price a little bit, then RIP Sony

X -> $449
S -> $249

They won't, both Sony and Microsoft are already taking a big hit with this price tags. But I would say, Series S is in a bad position with this price tag. Noticeable less powerful, less SSD space. Relates more like a 249 console ... let's see how this turns out.

I paid good money for this Dynex!
With nothing I want to play at launch and apparently every single game I'm interested in coming to PC instead, I'm just out. Pricing's reasonable - basically what everyone would've expected - but there's just no reason for me to bother.

They probably lose more money on the digital version and hope to recoup more on the digital sales.

That, and I think Sony may be hoping that a disc drive pushes more gamers to the $500 model, which probably has far less of a loss taken on it.

My guess is that they’d like draw people in with the $400 model, but ultimately add enough incentive to the $500 model to make people choose that in the end.

I'm getting XBOX SX at launch since I have game pass and an elite controller, but that digital PS5 has me tempted to get both. The value on the Series S just isn't there anymore IMO, and is is kind of a silly diversion after this. They might need to lower it to $249 at this point.

Great showing, great price. Microsoft has some serious heat under them now given the difference between the S and the unneutered ps5 digital.

Sucks we get it a week later tho.

Watch MS knock another 50 quid off the Series S!

Can't bring myself to go all digital (I like a blu ray player, and I like cheap 10 quid second hand games for something I know I'll play once then bin), but 359 quid is decent for the PS5 DE.

Not a bad price for the digital edition although there's nothing really to sell me on it.

Will pick up the cheapest model for GT7 whenever it's out.

I think preorders will go up soon. Atleast the Amazon Germany page seems really broken for the ps5. I bet they are preparing in the background.

The 399€ is great. But I'm kinda hesitant to pay 70€ all the time when I got games for 60€ physical on release in some shops. I also would need a separate Blu-ray player when the Miss wants to watch some of her concert discs :/

What all is with the ps+ stuff? I got a few years banked there already.

Saw fallout 4, I wonder if my save and dlc transfer over?

Looks like many people were right with PS5 and SeX prices.

Looks like a logical flow.

- Series S $300 for people who want in as cheap as possible
- PS5 DE $400 for people who are all in for digital
- PS5 disc $500, not a good value as SeX is $500. $450 would be more reasonable, but might well round off to the nearest $100
- Series X $500, most powerful system of them all

The prices are RRP, im sure retailers will do bundle deals for both consoles, selling the S cheaper in a bundle deal would help MS.
