Digital Foundrys Richard Leadbetter is about to host a Twitch discussion on the Xbox Series S and what it means for the console space...starts in a few minutes

Much prefer Witcher 3 to BOTW although I liked that game. Outer Wilds was good although I’m disappointed your character wasn’t shown much in cinematics/dialogue and prefer third person.

Not a terrible list imo although I’m someone who loves Infamous Second Son and Sunset Overdrive ha.

I get Metal Gear Solid has a huge following, I loved the series too, and the gameplay of MGSV is fun,. but come on, let's be honest, the story is a complete mess, it's missing an entire act and has a rushed ending, that alone would disqualify it for most.

i hated the story too. but gameplay is the best for any third person action shooter this gen.

isnt that why these indie games got the nod?

So it went down exactly like our GOTC polls here? (outside Bloodborne)

It seems they went for unique experiences which is a refreshing change.

That math game was a little wtf but I haven't played it so I don't know.

Deserving winner (best game ever made), a few other good choices, a few wtf, a few missing that should be there. It's alright.

Respect for including Titanfall 2 and Nier. I can live with the omissions except for God of War. I'm hoping it wins GAF Game of the Generation (though i have a lot of issues with how that's being done)

Botw staying overrated i see (dont get me wrong its great), but to say its better than bloodborne or witcher is laughable. I'd still put it in my top 5 though.

Titanfall is there so it's fine by me. Threes may be the odd one, but why not (I thought 2048 was the original game, but apparently it's the other way around).

I'm surprised some titles are absent from that list, but I'm also pleased that Overwatch isn't there.

Overwatch, for me, was a fun game for a few weeks, and then that was it. I never understood people throwing it onto their "best games" list. It always felt out of place to me.

Titanfall 2 is better than all those games that did not make the list.....IMO

These games wouldn't even be on my top 30
-Red Dead Redemption 2
- God of War
- The Last of Us 2
- The Last Guardian
- Death Stranding
- Resident Evil 7

Could be chalked up to Expectation Vs What We Got. For a AAA title you at least expect a complete story, MGSV did not deliver that, we got an amazing first act, a second act full of repeated missions dragging down the pace and then a rushed ending that comes out of nowhere. Even in Indie titles, even with a much more basic story, it's at least properly structured.

Solid list if we're being honest. Great breadth of games and a welcome surprise they haven't gravitated towards really hyped games like GoW/Lou2/rdr2.

Not to say those games are bad but by and far the game mechanics in the games of Titanfall/botw/Bloodborne are a clear cut above those. Surprising that uncharted 4 made the list though.

Eh, not onboard with 90% of those, but it ain’t my list and I have weird tastes. I think the takeaway is that there were a lot of great games last gen.

Very pleased to see Slay the Spire in that list. Addictive game. Still suck at it though.

titanfall 2 had a solid campaign and multiplayer but with the way people talk about it online on it being "such a gem that's overlooked" you can say it's overrated. it's honestly just a standard fps campaign with a cool story beat or two.

Not too bad. The intro gave me lower expectations. I quite like that Threes is there. A very small game but a very good idea for a puzzle game. I would also Place The Witcher 3 number 1, but I am glad it is at least there.
