I never saw Shaman King. Is it like Bleach but with a shota protag?

Been reading Feng Shen Ji. It's a really good manhua. The concept is good and the setting is pretty unique for a shonen comic. The protagonist as pretty like a brat but the character actually grows to a likable character.

Contrast to God of Highschool, I found to be somewhat on its premiere episode. I might come back to it, I don't think I will.

Hey guys,

Long time anime fan here. I’ve started to fall in love with reading manga, but so far all I’ve got is Gantz G Vol. 1 and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. I intend to keep getting the rest of both and also the normal Gantz series through the Omnibus, but do you guys have any recs for me? I don’t know what I should check out and I need some serious help. I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks! :messenger_grinning:

Wait now, I was graduated from high school when I first watched this.

It did run on a late timeslot with Cartoon Network. The CN version is censored up; you should check out the blu-ray release. The blu-ray release is uncut and has the original Japanese dialogue available. Cartoon Network also mismatched a bunch of the intros and endings. I think they fixed that with the blu-ray release, too.

Does the bluray release keep the english actors and remove the censorship? This is one of the few anime that I can't help but associate the english VOs to the characters.

It's bilingual. First language option has the original English dub voice actors from Ocean Group. Japanese is usually the second language option.

The blu ray release also looks like shit and stutters :messenger_tears_of_joy:

The streaming versions stutter and are mostly censored. There is the DVD release with a nice reflective slip-cover for each season...but it's oop and getting more expensive. I recommended the blu-ray sets because it's all there and it's not too expensive. Seems like this is happening with a lot of recent blu-ray anime releases. Bad handling and transfer by Viz Media possibly.

Streaming killed the physical collection show for me.

I watched InuYasha on YTV here in Canada so I'm not sure if it was censored the same as it was on CN. At this point I'm not sure I'd want to re-watch it. Watching the opening and ending credits every once in a while scratches the itch for me.

It's always Viz. Viz is shit. I didn't know the streaming versions were censored though. That's terrible.

To be fair, the first 44 TV episodes directed by Masashi Ikeda were about the best you'd get on a rewatch. For some reason Ikeda left or was fired and the remainder of the show from episodes 45-167 were directed by Yasunao Aoki and lacked the intensity and context previous episodes had. In other words, it gets extremely boring and almost unwatchable after 44. Final Act was also a disasterpiece and simply wasn't needed.

brap brap Indeed, Viz is bullocks. They did censor the show in Canada, too. With regard to steaming services, I watched a few episodes on Prime and they were censored. It's evident from the clamshell bra digitally edited onto the centipede woman in the first episode down to the coloring of blood from red to black. I'm not sure if Netflix did the same.

One more episode for this season of Re:Zero.

It's been pretty enjoyable. I still have a lot of issues with the series still but this is the first arc where I felt they really used the series' shtick beyond just being a gimmick. They've managed to actually explore characters well and there's a lot less of the behavior stuff that bothered me in previous seasons, or at least it makes more sense here.

I wanted to watch the French dub of Gigi (Minky Momo), then saw on the media player that 12 episodes were 10-90 seconds shorter. I said screw it, got the Japanese bd source instead.

Fortunately French dub of Lun Lun is unedited and very good. That villain laugh in the dub is probably the funniest I've heard.

Fall Season coming up.

Some stuff I might check out:

The Shounen of the season:

Shaft project:

Will check out at least one ep to see what Slow is excited about:

Looks polished and nice. Great music too. Hopefully not just for the trailer. Director's resume is kind of spotty though:

ReZero creator's first go at anime script. Doesn't interest me on the surface and have a feeling it'll suck, but will give it a shot:

Another Crunchyroll project. Pretty meh on it, but will try:

Cringe Tier. Don't know if I can force myself to watch it, but the story sounds so stupid I might try:

Sleepy Princess is a comedy manga for the most part. It is being done by Doga Kobo I doubt they'll fuck up the adaptation.

^ This is the best thing airing next season though. Everything else is a pass for me outside the obvious Gochuumon. (I'd rather READ Golden Kamui than watch it)

I don't know why I thought they were going to cover this arc in the first season. It's going to be 2 cours of this one arc isn't it

Yeah, there's another season to finish this arc from what I was reading. This arc feels a little long for what's happened so far. Granted, there's a lot of stuff we learn that has been teased up until this point but it feels like it could have been tightened up in the original source material.

The source material I remember having bad pacing and going on forever, so I was wondering how the anime would go, but, yeah, seems like it will be two cours for one arc.

Do you guys have any manga recommendations other than Berserk? I’m a big fan of Shonen stuff, but I don’t want to jump into something that I’ve already seen in anime form. So, if it doesn’t have an anime, that would be great. But I’m open to anything.

Action, comedy, and romance are all interesting to me.

Peach Girl for romance. I think it might have an anime but I'm not sure.

Another one i remembered was Tasogare Otome x Amnesia. Its half-light hearted romance/mystery. It did got an anime adaptation but i remember it being somewhat meh and going under the radar.
There's also Tonikaku Cawaii, same author as Hayate no Gotoku and is basically sugar-filled romance

Bushido boy it would be great if you actually followed up or quoted people that answered your question.

I could actually update the OP with recommendations though.

What do you guys think?

Or at least, put seasonal recommendations.

Yeah, gonna do that when October hits since I'll actually have things I want to watch again by then.

To properly update the OP, I suggest a modest, yet obligatory 350 gifs of Leorio

Leorio must never be forgotten. But if that is the case, then he will have to wait 1-2 years
Togashi's grandchildren will finish start make begin Leorio's first actual fight in the series.

@SLoWMoTIoN why in the world did you drop One Piece, i thought you knew better
according to my calculations, your quality of life has probably (no doubt tbh) decreased by at least 7% since

Today's lesson: Leorio has the biggest nuts in the entire show

Remember this?
Leorio throwing a knife at Chrollo at York New City right as the lights turned back on

Too many reasons. The main one was it just wasn't fun and that outside jobber #410 the characters never grew on me. I still think it is better than Naruto and Fairy Tail (ryona/punching wizards the series) though. Which were two other manga I could never get into, even at the height of their popularity.

Even plot couldn't save FT for me.

I don't remember that lol. I just remember him driving around mostly in that arc or making Gon arm wrestle for cash.
