Well, not the greatest start to the month. This was a super low-budget, cliche ghost girl flick saddled with bad acting and no creativity. At least it was only an hour and seven minutes.

28.Invisible man (2020)

I saw the original as a kid and that remake was just as good if not better and slightly more believable than the first. good tension throughout the movie. Acting was on par with what I expected, I don't like the main actress and it is the only negative point to the movie IMO. Great watch.

#2
40. The Night of the Demons (1988)

I enjoyed the movie, it has some sign of aging like some 80s humor, but it did not affect my overall enjoyment of the movie. It is quite fun with plenty of ... exposure :messenger_relieved:. It is a quintessential horror movie that will not surprise you ..[actual spoiler]except for the coward black guy surviving against all the 80's odds.

1. 6 Souls (2010)

Lovely as ever, Julianne Moore plays some type of psychoanalyst for the police, and she is introduced to a guy who seemed to have dissociative personality disorders by her father. Some inexplicable things happen next.

Sadly expected what was going to happen way too soon but the intricacies were still worth the watch. IMDB said it was horror mystery thriller, i would rearrange as mystery thriller horror. Not what I was looking for in the horror genre but enjoyable nonetheless. there are some plot holes *

#4
2. A Night of Horror Nightmare Radio (2019)
quick summary: Radio DJ has horror stories to tell. Anthology style.

First story is great [Edit: Sisters one also creeped me out good], subsequent ones don't always hit, but are never total misses. overall still very enjoyable and I know people love their horror anthology, this one could be a good addition to anyone's list but not a must.

My #2 was Ginger Snaps. It definitely captures how crappy high school can be. It starts out strong, but kinda drags in places. The 3rd act felt a lot longer than it actually was. It felt like it kind of ran out of steam, so they tacked on an ending and that was that.

#5 The Windmill Massacre (2016)

It's a rainy day so this was for lunch, along with some cold Amityville pizza. People with bad secrets get offed by a supernatural slasher. It's run of the the mill stuff (sorry) but filmed well. The location was good and I enjoyed it enough. Decent filler for people that watch too much horror.

Windmill-Massacre-Featured.jpg

1. Mortuary (Shudder) - Bad but sortof enjoyable film about well... stuff?
Bill Paxton is killing and preserving anyone who gets in the way of him and his dream girl being together, less entertaining than that sounds.
- *

2. Dead & Buried (Shudder) - This was a totally awesome movie about people venturing into a small town and being executed by its community, it follows the Sheriff trying to figure out what's going on. - ****

3. Amsterdamned (Shudder) - Pretty middle of the road film with a few cool scenes, can't decide if it wants to be giallo or police procedural, a few neat chase scenes. Some of the best deaths are cut away from unfortunately. - **

#6 The Unborn (2009)

And for dinner - been a good day - something spooky. Well, it was actually a bit crap and not scary at all. However, it kept me watching because it wastes no time and keeps the pace up with lots happening. Twins, a ghost, and an exorcism. Lots of cliches and some good effects. A better director could have made something more of this.

3. Child's play (2019)

Ok so aubrey plaza and mark hamill do a decent job but honestly this jumps the shark pretty quick and never looks back. The effects are firmly in the uncanny valley and should have gone full practical. I'm sure they thought it looked appropriately creepy but it was just boring when the doll attacked because it looked so stupid. There were several scenes and subplots that felt entirely inconsequential. They led nowhere. I feel like it was just pointless side quests to get us to the feature running time.

220px-I_Am_the_Pretty_Thing_That_Lives_in_the_House_poster.jpg

3. I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives Inside The House

It was okay. Not very Horror’y’ imo. more slow burn gothic drama. I think it was well shot and casted, but i had trouble connecting the story. The surface level stuff was straight forward enough, buti felt like it failed at conveying the bigger picture. Was trying to be something a bit deeper that i think needed to be a bit clearer at times. Personally I wouldnt recommend.

Halloween Binge started, I forgot to Bring H20 tho, I'm gonna have to watch it at a later date.

Halloween 4 - The Return Of Michael Myers (1988)

Michael is back in town, and really wants to kill that one little girl because reasons.

To be fair I really enjoyed it, I expected worse for some reason, I never hear about H4, people only ever talk about first 2. Watching it makes me wish I had not skipped it years ago and propelled me straight into watching...

Halloween 5 - The revenge of Michael Myers (1989)

Remember how i said that Michael Was Back and wants to kill a little girl. Well, in this one... He comes back... to kill the same little girl... but now shes mute !

It might be the same plot but somehow felt different enough to not bother me watching one after the other. I'm not sure what to say as a review for Halloween movies, after this watch I'm wondering if I should really continue this Halloween movie marathon. It was enjoyable, people were killed violently by a masked person.

Halloween (6) - The Curse Of Michael Myers (1995)

I guess people expected Michael to be dead again for some reason. But he smelt the blood of his realtives and has come back - Currently watching, will edit the post as I finish it Halloween : Also now with Cultists

Somehow enjoyed watching that one more. Maybe it's because of Best boii Paul Rudd being in there creeping. it was a step up over 5. Maybe gonna Watch H20 tomorrow when i get Home. I really don't have much to say about it. The cult stuff after the baby of the forcibly impregnated Jamie, the same girl from the 4th and 5th, that should be now 15 - but lets gloss right over that detail - was just weird enough to freshen it up.

The Night of the Comet (1984)

Everyone's out watching a comet flying by. Everyone but a few people, 2 Of them are cute teenage girls too obsessed with fashion, luckily for them, because it turns out that it was that same comet who wiped out the earth few millions years ago. Now they must face their greatest fear, scientists ? weird zombies? and teenage warlord?

I didn't know what to expect going in to watch this, but the main girl was very cute which is totally not why i decided to watch it ... i swear...

Night-of-the-Comet-3.jpg

I really enjoyed the movie and how god damn cute Catherine Mary Stewart is in the movie...

Night of the Creeps (1986)

So theres naked aliens for like 30 seconds... and then an old 1950 horror movie... and then both combined but it's just leeches.

night-of-the-creeps.jpg

said alien that is 30 seconds in the movie.

While all over the place, it is an incredibly amusing "college" comedy, I don't know what to say about it. I laughed way more than i should have i think, but the movie is great. Absolute recommendation.

#7 Evil Dead Trap (1988)

A long time ago I saw the first half of this and finally get to finish it. Bunch of clueless people walk into a killer-in-a-disused-building scenario and more. Starts well, little slow in the middle, and then a crazy finale. Liked it. Especially loved the grungy look, particularly around the ending. Feels like the sort of movie you need to watch on a 3rd generation VHS tape and a small screen for those banned video nasty feels. Some mean kills.

4. Phantasm

I actually really enjoyed this one. Its a very linear and simple plot, maybe a little too simple and unexplained at times, but it was still a vintage joy. I love the brotherly dynamics. The creepy mortician. The sneaking around. Kinda felt like a real adventure, a la the goonies

It has a dream like quality, like it a lot. I listen to the soundtrack surprisingly often.

Highly recommend Phantasm 2. One of my all time favourites.

This actually kept me really engaged throughout and was pretty damn fun. A good gory time with fun twists and turns and changing alliances throughout. @alexandradaddario I always have a bias towards but I legit think she was great in this objectively speaking. She veils a craziness with just the right amount of stoicism that it's believable and gives it her all in a trashy horror film. I recommend it!

I'll add it to the list just for her, is it on any streaming services ?

Sorry for the Double Post But I've been picking away at the Resident Evil Movie franchise.

#11 Already!

Resident Evil (2002)

Evil Corp totally doesnt poison their own employees turning them to flesh eating zombies. - as if I needed to tell the plot.

Young 10-12 years old me had nightmare of those meat doggos. while the effect is still looking good, those movies are not as horrific as i remember, they are more of a action movie with an horror aspect to it than a horror movie. it is an enjoyable watch and has made working tonight a blast.

Resident Evil : Apocalypse (2004)

more evil corp, more zombie, more of jill please

this one is dumb... like really dumb... Alice doing a backflip from her bike to send it crashing + flying 10 feet in the air with that thing looking straight out of Doom (2016) , shooting the bike gas tank making it explode... inside a church.

i liked it a lot. very dumb, jill is very cute, daddy nemesis is very dashing and can even stop a falling helicopter with his face. Also got kind of turned on by those undead ladies of the night, I'm not sure I should say it but whatever. I'm suprisingly OK with those movies right now.

Resident Evil: Extinction (2007)

Man, umbrella needs to chill with those experiments, Pt. 3

so we've seen zombies, zombie dogs, superhuman zombie, but yall didnt know what you truly need was a murder of flaming zombie-flesh eating crow. when i first saw the crow, i started out laughing but then was like
giphy.gif

theres a bunch of stuff going on in that one. like theyre mad-maxing through the desert trying to get to alaska from Raccoon city but now alice is discovering her body powers. I'm not sure where i would rank this one... it is going stupider, but like theres some real dumb shit in that one too.

Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010)

alice tries to find survivor, finds kim coates instead who would never ever portray a bad guy ever.
lands her plane on a prison and stuff. Also she isnt infected with the T-Virus anymore, but still mannages to survive a plane crash.

10 mins in: this is so dumb.
13 mins in: god wesker looks dumb.
14 mins in : there is now 10 mila jovovich shooting smg at an osprey thingy
-stopped posting here because i got caught in the movie. it was still super dumb tho-

The movie is dumb. I love it. the special effects are slightly jarring tho, they are quite distracting sometimes and lacked credibility. like that 2 meter sword that she stab a umbrella dude through the helmet with but doesn't come out the other side... I'm feeling like 20% dumber now.

Resident Evil: Retribution (2012) - Jesus they know how to milk a serie.

Alice gets kidnapped by Umbrella for what seems to be the 20th time, and nows shes living in a simulation and everyone in the previous movies make a comeback or something

ill be honest... i really REALY didnt like that one. I found it dumb but boring. it lacked the spark of insanity the others had or something, it was bland. I am going to finish the final chapter however, hoping it at least wont be boring.

#3 was Dead and Buried. It was a slow burn, which I'm usually not into late at night, but the whole story unfolding was really compelling. IMO, this is a real gem. It really captured the feeling of the isolation of the protagonist. The ending was really gratifying after all of the slow buildup.

#4 was Body Bags. Anthologies aren't particularly my thing, but having Carpenter himself as the host was cool. None of the stories were particularly standout from a story point of view; IMO, it was on par with good Tales From the Dark Side or 90s Outer Limits episodes. Mark Hamill being the protagonist of one of the stories was a highlight.

My "extra credit" was From Beyond. Jeffrey Combs and Lovecraftian horror go together great, as usual. It was an 80s movie in the best way. There were "slower" moments throughout, but it was definitely never dull. It felt way shorter than it actually was. It was a fun surprise to see Ken Foree in the cast.

Man, that Resi Evil series. How did it keep going? I saw the second one in the cinema and that scene in the church was like a straight knockout punch of dumb. It floored me. And the comic relief guy. I recall the Red Letter Media guys being in fits of laughter with the later ones. I should probably check them out now as I'm no longer mourning the loss of a potentially great adaptation.

green_gibs green_gibs Good call on From Beyond. Really like that one.

6- Behind The Mask (Shudder)
I liked it. Fairly funny is spots. Cool premise.

7- Pelts (DVD)
It’s one of the Masters Of Horror movies. Meat Loaf is in it and there are boobs. Decent gore. Not the best of the MOH series.

Are they his boobs? It's okay; you can tell us. You're amongst friends.

(The) Gate II

Weird 1990 sequel to the 80s cult horror The Gate. While the first movie was about accidentally opening the gate to hell, this one is about summoning a demon to grant wishes... Only the metal geek Terry returns for this one (Same actor) and it's good to have him back as there's not too much else from the first movie to latch onto. Most of this ends up being one of those monkey's paw type flicks where your wishes turn bad (In this case turning to literal shit. Yeah). For most of the movie the only monster is a single minion creature, though the movie is "saved" by the last 15 minutes, where suddenly everything goes off-rails and you're now watching a movie with a giant stop motion monster and characters in full body monster costumes. At this point it's pretty ridiculous and it's a shame the end sequence didn't have more budget to work with as it would have been truly absurd. Then the movie ruins itself again with a really stupid ending at a funeral. =P

I don't know who I would recommend this to but it's quite something...

Resident evil The Final Chapter (2016)- and final opus of the alice saga - i hope.

Homecoming movie of a middle-aged woman after going to the west coast, ralise her true goals were where it all started - or soemthing like that.

still dumb, has some good moments, and the special effects are quite better than retribution. but some of those monster designs are dumb, they remind me some of the bosses in RE6 i was laughing at. There's switcharoos on switcharoos, everyone's a clone now also. I was almost happy with the ending... until they opened 5 more doors that I will totally ignore to save what little sanity I have left. - I'm happy I have watched those movie, they are (you guessed it) dumb fun but watching them on release or 2-4 years apart seems to be the optimal way to watch these.

- I will be slowing down for the next few days, let some of you catch up a little Have a good watch guys

#8 The Loreley’s Grasp / Las Garras de Lorelei (1974)

An old euro creature feature. Set at an all girls boarding school with special courses in giggling round the pool. An ancient shapeshifting monster is on the loose and a dashing stupid hunter that mostly thinks with the wrong head is after it. Everything and everyone looks Spanish despite being set in Germany. It's like a slightly sleazy fairy tale. Tame and comically bad.

Amazing, this is good stuff, I couldn't have started better
Sci-fi, horror, action, comedy...this movie have a critic to our society and have the feeling of 80s, Carpenter and a wrestler acting
How can this movie be so good?
Go watch right now if you haven't watched it yet

After being pleasantly surprised by one Alexandra Daddario horror flick I pushed my luck. It was not a wise decision. This was like two different movies with little carryover into the sequel (second half) as well as an avalanche of boring cliches and unnecessary twists. I mean holy hell I expected the 3D shots that no longer work given the title but the random ass lines just thrown in and then abandoned in the next scene were surprising. Seems like it's half improv with how little things connect from one scene to the next. There's some REALLY bad acting and not in an entertaining way. There's not even really any funny stuff to make it fun to watch as a movie to make fun of either. It's just overly gory trite garbage that over explains everything while making it seem like nothing matters. SKIP IT

Are the phatasm sequels good? I mean they made 5 and some relatively recently...

Found footage story. It was okay. Actually felt like it was taking waaay too long to get to the final act, which felt rushed and like there was zero budget left by the time we got to it. Barely made any sense to me too. I was actually really into the movie for the first half, and it trickled in some hooks along the way, but in the end just didnt give you anything satisfying. The scariest parts were in the first half too. HAd some strong ideas but overall fell flat. Some that didnt eork well for me was the filming inside the houses. Between the lighting, sfx, and cuts you could barely appreciate and comprehend whats going on, and not in a good way, as im sure they were intending for it to be scary chaotic and disorienting...just disliked how they shot and edited most of those parts

Naturally there's lots of disagreement but IMO it goes off the rails with the third film.
2 = excellent
3 = tries to be like 2 and fails, is too goofy
4 = cheap convoluted mess
not seen 5

I watched it just because it was a Glenn Danzig project; I had no prior awareness of it other than the fact that it existed.

It's just a crappy 3-story anthology with gratuitous nudity and lots of hammy acting and special effects. Apparently this film had some mystique because it was only screened at certain film festivals for a while. A lot of people say it's the new "The Room", but I think it's just junk. The cinematography is atrocious. There's a TON of scenes that linger way too long and the "actors" look really uncomfortable and confused. The harsh lighting makes it look very amateurish; you can see lines where prosthetics were applied on almost everything. There's relatively little dialogue for a 90 minute movie, particularly the last one, which was either a ton of the same, boring shots or possibly just reusing footage over and over. Honestly, I couldn't tell and I was too disinterested to really take a second look.

TBH, I think it might be a fun one to watch with a lot of friends at a party or something. The best part of this movie was knowing that it would end.

The Witch (2015)

That one had my attention the entire way through. Very disturbing ending, I have had many nightmares in such the same manner as what happened in the ending, those are the most terrifying ones too...

Here's a scene that stuck out to me

During your first watch, I doubt many would be able to catch the subtlety of it because it happens so fast and there is little to even go by to come to this conclusion. But it looks like the witch in this particular scene lured him in with the promise of a kiss and then she opens her mouth wider and I'm assuming bit the poor kid's lips right off. Very disturbing film, but it will have your attention. The English is very tough to understand at first I thought but it also adds some unique value to the film itself

Witch films are very unsettling to me personally. The ambiance and the environments in this one make me never want to enter the woods in my life for as long as I live lol

Light hearted horror but such a good movie. Highly highly recommend.
Girl marries into a billionaire mogul's family and has to play a game in order to be initiated into the family.

Just another home invasion movie, nothing special here, a couple of elders with a hidden secret and dumb teenagers trying to rob them, without any charm the plot doesn't worth the movie
Better to watch Don't Breathe
