I don't think there's much question that flu vaccine doesn't work well. The study of flu vaccine effectiveness for 2017-2018 shows that around 80000 people died, but the total number of deaths prevented is estimated at 8000. So this preventative saves roughly 1 in 10, by the models (which are questionable). If someone told me they had a treatment for a potentially fatal condition and that it had a 10% chance of working, I'd keep looking. Further complicating this is that 90% of those deaths are age 65+, and it's known that flu vaccine doesn't work particularly well in the elderly.
Agree, though I was looking at this more along the lines of your assertion that these industries are corrupt and actually WANT people to be sick. If vaccines magically made sure people stayed healthy, there'd be no incentive for them. So I'm going beyond "they're not very useful" and crossing that bridge to "they probably actually cause net harm". (This is of course outside of very specific cases such as small pox and perhaps polio, though that latter one is kind of a can of worms if you actually go down the rabbit hole.) The chicken pox vaccine for example is an absolute joke and almost certainly does more harm than good only because of how little actual harm in the scheme of things chicken pox actually does/did.

I'm not on team #vaccinesdefinitelycauseautism but there are many disturbing correlations that nobody is really seriously looking into, and the possible reasons for that come right back to what you laid out in your post. A sick population == $$$$.

So Matt Hancock is a lying sack of shit. He says that we can't acquire herd immunity without a vaccine, citing some diseases (measles, malaria, aids, flu) that didn't reach herd immunity. The first thing is that barring flu none of those are transmitted through our breath. The government has been harping on about how dangerous it is (when it's kill rate is not orders of magnitude worse than flu) due to its rapid spread. That being the case, it is not unreasonable to expect herd immunity to be reached. The alternative is that they're lying about the rapid spread. So, which are you lying about Matt? The rapid spread or the herd immunity?

The second thing he mentions is 'increasing evidence of reinfection'. I would counter that with the numbers of reinfections being tiny. His citing this shows a fundamental lack of understanding of immunology. Being 'immune' means that your body is ready to fight if the infection returns, and will deal with it quickly before it becomes a problem. I would imagine that if the first infection was minor (a small viral load), your body might not develop enough immune response and so immunity might be less than it would otherwise be. The other possibility is that the tests are unreliable. We have had MANY issues of reliability with the tests so this is not impossible. The third possibility is that he's right, in which case a vaccine isn't going to solve any of our problems because we cannot be immunised against the virus. At that point, fuck lockdown, we just have to live with the thing.

Third, he says we can't shield the vulnerable and let everyone else carry on. Horse shit. If the government can fund furlough it can fund the means to shield the vulnerable. This means providing PPE and home deliveries to those who are vulnerable, providing support in the community with carers in a separated bubble, and so on. It would cost far less than destroying the economy. And then he goes to young people and long covid. For young people COVID is less dangerous than flu, while 'Long Covid' is just what happens sometimes in response to a viral infection, and isn't some new scary bogeyman as presented - and it happens in vanishingly small numbers of cases (the media just likes to focus on them).

Finally we have an appeal to emotion. If you dare listen to this opposing position, we'll have a huge loss of life. But that's horse shit. The models the government have based their planning on have been provably wrong all the way through, hell the model doesn't even produce the same results if you run it on different computers.

So, to recap, he's either lying about herd immunity or the spread. And he's either lying about reinfection, or misinformed, or we can't become immune in which case vaccines are a waste of time. I don't see in any of those scenarios a justification for lockdown.

I am extremely proud of GAF for giving the chance to have contributions like these. I clearly remember in the final days of old GAF someone attempting a thread on these lines and having the OP basically censored with the mod barring all links commenting “Fuck this link” and “Fuck this link too. VACCINATE YOUR KIDS.”
Now this is not to open a huge can of worms that would be off topic here, but it’s nice that we can discuss these things here without immediately being shut down by the moderation.

Now to get back to COVID. Can someone kindly explain to me how is the lockdown situation going in the US? I keep seeing people mentioning being locked at home in the gaming section, but here in Italy for example there‘s been no lockdown for months (even if we have every reason to fear a new, even partial, one may be imposed in a few weeks).

Depends hugely on the state you live in. California pretty much didn’t allow indoor restaurants all summer. Or gyms. Or haircuts. But Florida has basically no restrictions at all now. It really varies state by state to a massive degree.

This is utter bullshit what's going in Europe right now. Those politicians talking about exponational growth... The deaths still never reached 10k per day even once world wide. If you look at Sweden there are days without a single death reported from time to time. My all mighty chancellor Das Merkel says the rules are not hard enough to stop covid. From what? Killing few old people that would have died anyway and the occasional young folks (like the flu does every year). In Germany they seem to forget that between 2300 to 3500 people die every day... complete fear mongering what's going on. This shit ruined my vacation twice this year and I fear it will ruin moving to my families new house next week as well... 😬

I'd agree that it's almost always about money. Wherever people can get money, they'll gravitate. In the case of pharma companies, I suspect they engage in some small pieces of charitible access so that they can claim moral purity and/or allow the non-psychopaths in their ranks to be able to sleep. But non-solutions or appearances of solutions always cause net harm as they prevent actual solutions from being pursued.

I don't really go in for conspiracies etc but it will be interesting to see how all of this plays out over the next 5 to 10 years.

Something I really don't get currently is that you have the most public example of an individual case with the US President getting diagnosed treated and then recovered.

Yet nobody is really asking HOW he was treated so effectively, other than to "own" him over some hypocrisy regarding the treatment.

You've got an overweight, over worked and over stressed, dude in his 70s basically being infected, treated and recovered in public and nobody is saying "hold up, how exactly did you save this dude and why aren't we plowing money into that instead of a vaccine?"

Nope. Let's discuss reinfections and this one lady who says it feels like she has dementia now. Oh and haha Trump your treatment used tissue from fetuses or something ya big, diagnosed and recovered right in from of all of us, idiot.

Even months back there was drama over "disinfecting the body" or whatever he had actually said.

He never fucking said "inject bleach to cure covid" so why pretend that he did? Surely better for the media to say "OK is this a treatment that is being researched and if it is can we bring it to more public attention and maybe get some investment going here.". If he's just coming up with random bullshit then for sure call him out but don't make the entire news cycle for several days be" haha Trump."

So many more constructive ways to do it." Trump's disinfectant idea is a no go but here are 5 other leading treatments that could make covid less dangerous".

They just keep pushing the "vaccine is the only answer" angle which is a thing that they surely don't know for sure.

Yeah man. I never knew the Netherlands was a third world country in terms of medicine. Who would’ve thought a few cases of a respiratory virus could bring it to its knees? I guess all the statistics about their medical system were misleading.

I 100% agree with this. This has been my thought since Trump's diagnosis came up. He is the model of someone who should be getting hammered by this virus but didn't. From what it sounded like Boris Johnson was in much worse shape than Trump ever was.

If there are experimental therapeutics that seemingly work (which I am assuming based on how Trump recovered), I would argue it is actually a better scenario if those experimental therapeutics become FDA approved treatments than a vaccine. But not a peep about that. The Fauci/Gates vaccine/mark of the beast is apparently the only way.

London will go into local lockdown from midnight tomorrow, with tough restrictions on socialising and travelling.

Nine million people will be banned from meeting indoors, including in pubs and restaurants, and advised not to use public transport as the capital moves into tier-two restrictions.

Yeah I was thinking the same about Johnson.

You've got 24 hour news coverage and not once are they really going into exactly how the dude was treated and what's the difference between life and death here.

Like, the people who have died. How? Why? What could have been done to save them?

They fearmonger for months and then it's like "oh yeah Trump has it but he's fine so let's move on". No. Let's just fuckin pause for a moment here. What was different between Trump and the 220k who died?

The messaging to the public is all over the place and then people want to moan because Joe Public isn't wearing his mask right or wants to go to a BBQ at his friend's house.

You must wear a mask indoors. Now over to the house of commons where everyone is indoors but not everyone is wearing masks. FUUUUUUUUUCK!

Don't have mass gatherings! After the break we are going live to downtown Portland where people are peacefully protesting against the police and its totally fine to do so. Masses of people gathering for protests is fine. Don't attend mass gatherings!

Up next it's Bill Gates blathering on about digital vaccine passports or some other fanciful bullshit.

"You won't be able to travel unless you have a digital vaccine certificate so it'll be keeping the world safe... Blah blah blah." Meanwhile I go downtown and there are fucking people EVERYWHERE not giving a single fuck about "the rules" and half of these cunts will never have a passport to travel anywhere but will be up in each others houses every night drinking 2 litre bottles of cider and generally clowning around. Bill Gates is going to make YOU get a rushed vaccine so you can get back to work though.

Its a giant fucking mess of contradictions and completely unenforceable rules. Unless you displease your betters and then the rules will be enforced for you, of course.

Even at Trump's age, the infection fatality rate is only estimated to be around 5%, so Trump surviving is the expected outcome. We can't know if anything "made the difference" however, because there was no control group. We would need a copy of Trump given standard treatments, a copy of Trump given antibody therapy only, a copy of Trump given Remdesivir only etc. In fact, in a real experiment Trump wouldn't even know the treatments he was receiving, since that could affect the outcome. (The "placebo effect" can be super powerful)

I have a terribly hard time to convince others to open their eyes and do a little research instead of just blatantly following the "rules". Even yesterday one of my colleagues tried to force me to wear a mask even when it's not mandatory to do so (yet, they have to change/alter the law for that).
I lose more friends/contacts over this than actual lifes around me, rofl.

Never would've imagined that people instantly follow the "leaders" without any question. Were it about any other subject people would've been more skeptic, but I guess that's completely out of the picture once there's too much fear put into your mind.

It's the most depressing time period I've ever had to endure. Only because nearly nobody is willing to actually ask the right questions to make it come through.

I only wear my mask out of courtesy. Maybe it helps not breathing out water droplets, but on the other hand I'm touching my face and the mask a lot, in which case I'll probably get covid that way. It's a damned if you do, and damned if you don't kind of thing. I don't keep friends that don't respect me, so as of yet, I haven't lost any!

Coronavirus is apparently only contagious at night! Reminds me of the illogic here in NYC, where even outdoor bars had to close by 12 AM whereas usually they're open until 4 AM. Something is afoot. Put the pieces together.

Ya Corona Virus is like those dangerous night-crawling night-stalking creatures. So they gotta put up a curfew or watershed to contain it. Because during the day(time) it sleeps like a Vampire.

The government has gone in and stuck its nose in or outlawed all the things that bring us together as people - weddings, funerals, church, sporting events, concerts, dating, nights out, sex, family gathering, travel - while promoting and amplifying the things that divide us, keep us apart, and incite anger - masks, distancing, riots, protests, division by race and class, etc. Interesting how all that has played out.

Media is breathlessly reporting the "second wave" is here based on the fake case count, as expected. It is around where it was in late July-ish which was the downturn of the post George Floyd riot increase (even though we are running 30% more tests, and as such, the positivity rate is much lower).

This is never going to end.

I suspect this will be happening almost everywhere in the northern hemisphere before mid/late-January because governments and mainstream media are quite literally using it to push an agenda. The provincial public health director here, Horacio Arruda, has been sporting the Sustainable Development/Agenda 31 pin on his suit for all to see. He became president/chairman of a global organization that sprung up in 2017 and it's connected to the UN/World Health Organization.

The Global Network for Health in All Policies (GNHiAP) is a country-led initiative, which mission is to work with various stakeholders to address the determinants of health, by strengthening the Health in All Policies (HiAP) approach, with an aim to support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and Universal Health Coverage.

The GNHiAP was launched by the governments of Sudan, Finland and Thailand, the Province of Québec, and the State of South Australia during the 70th World Health Assembly in May 2017.

A radio channel that isn't usually at the daily briefings managed to get a question in about the Great Barrington Declaration today and the premier, after making it clear he's no fan of the reporter or his outlet, danced around it by claiming the current shutdown of restaurants, bars, movie theaters, etc is "not a lock down" because schools and retailers are still open. "Everyone around the world is doing what we're doing." Flat out lie, of course, and then he tried to legitimize what we're doing by comparing Quebec's deaths per million to the US as a whole. The 2 or 3 reporters that followed didn't challenge him on any of that because who cares about the truth?

Ready to wear masks into 2022?

On how long we’ll need masks
Sandra E. Brooks, chief medical officer at Jefferson University Hospital, asked Fauci to predict how long masks and social-distancing will be needed.
Fauci said that if the vaccine is 70% effective, and if some people resist taking it, many months will elapse before society reaches herd immunity.
“You’re not going to have a profound degree of herd immunity for a considerable period of time, maybe toward the end of 2021, into 2022,” he said. “I feel very strongly that we’re going to need to have some degree of public-health measures to continue. Maybe not as stringent as they are right now.”

If "Biden" wins the election next month, this stuff is going to fade from the headlines very quickly and be totally forgotten by the end of next year's flu season. They're just going to stop reporting on it, stop talking about tests, stop talking about tyrant mandates, lock Fauci in a broom closet, etc.

I had thought that. But now I'm half thinking that after they've seen how docile and easily controlled people are, maybe they double down instead...

But if we dont have long term immunity and will need shots twice a year every year how is herd immunity reached? This is just the next lie like 15 days to stop the spread. Its the slow prep work.

This is not going away until people stand up but the state and its media apparatus is too strong and are basically following the China model now.

Watch the vaccine will come out, it will be 40-60% effective so masks and lockdowns will continue and then they will find out immunity from the vaccine only lasts a few months so herd immunity will never be reached and these draconian state of emergencies will go on indefinitely.

The truth is that we need to stop testing and stop listening to scum like Fauci. This is a hysteria and will stop when people stop being hysterical. If the media stopped reporting on it (like I think they may do if Biden wins) that’s one step towards it just going away.

People will get sick, people will go to the hospitals, but like every flu season, it will be background noise. As I’ve said 100 times we are stuck with this virus for the rest of our lives and unless we are going to accept total autocracy it will have to end at some point.

Speaking of Stanford...

trigger warning

Just 0.05% of healthy under-70s who get Covid-19 will die from the disease, study claims

Covid-19 may actually only kill one in 2,000 healthy people under the age of 70, according to research.

Dr John Ioannidis, from Stanford University, claims the infection-fatality rate (IFR) could be as low as 0.05 per cent in a review of antibody surveillance studies.

His estimate — published by the World Health Organization — is five times lower than his previous claim that the IFR for all age groups stood at 0.25 per cent. For comparison, seasonal flu kills around 0.1 per cent of everyone it infects.

So the numbers here are "going up" (supposedly) yet they've forced masks on all public transit. Wouldn't that be a MAJOR point of contact? Shouldn't the numbers have gone down dramatically from enforcing that alone?
Nope. Guess not. All these imaginary house parties and gatherings here must over power public transit.

Anyone have an explanation for that one?

Didn't think so.

When are people gonna wake up and realize this bullshit doesn't make any sense and nothing adds up?

How long is it gonna take?

I don't know about the rest of our lives. No pandemic in human history ever last forever. After this mammoth winter second wave that most people knew would happen back in March, you'll see a big slowdown vaccine or no vaccine, and then another not as big wave and maybe another smaller one and then it's likely done. I'd implore everyone to google past pandemics as it's extremely informative in seeing how this one will shake down.

Dude there's no fucking explanation.

Not a single person has explained why case counts exploded after mask mandates and enforcement were put into place consistently around the world. Again masks are not about preventing spread, it is an article of faith for the busybodies and a sign of compliance for the authorities.

The thing that gives me pause there is that so many countries outside the US are behaving is such a similar way.

Trump going away just transfers the pressure on to Biden to stop the spread and while he might be able to blame Trump for 6 months or so if there is no vaccine and cases still up then he would face the same pressure.

Unless he just comes in and shuts everything down and to hell with the consequences. The media will at least be willing to run defence for Biden at first.

The worst thing about the cases is there is no clear messaging on what actually counts as a "case" and what they are actually testing for?

Are they testing for Covid 19 or for coronavirus? There are a few coronaviruses out there right? So does a positive test mean you got Covid 19 or will a certain % of those be other viruses.

Secondly does a positive test mean you have covid19 at the time of testing or could it mean you either have covid19 now OR you've had it recently. What % of our daily cases might people who had it, recovered but still have antibodies that would trigger a positive test score?

Why don't they ever mention the margin for error? If we have X number of cases then what's the likely % of false positives etc?

With all that in mind wouldn't hospitalizations and deaths be the determining factor in how we respond.

Why are these case numbers so important when everybody knows they are not exactly accurate?

The key point here is that Biden can "stop the spread" because there is no spread - well, obviously there is a virus that is going around but the idea that this thing can be tracked and analyzed and locked down the way they say they can do it is obvious crap. The tests counts are fake and the death counts are fake. It's all complete baloney, there is no rigorous methodology to this as NYT (NYT!) wrote an article about months ago that was quickly ignored. Even with the obvious nonsense, they keep having to do more fake tests to produce the same numbers just to keep the hype going.

The "spread" will go away when we stop pushing these fake tests on everyone and hyping up the results as an excuse to destroy society. If people go to the hospital with a cough and fever, well people go to the hospital with a cough and fever every year.

It's all tales from my ass basically. I don't buy it.

I do not buy these fucking numbers. And the death count isn't sexy enough so they just circle jerk over their shitty supposed case counts.
