I wish when you did a search here, that the results it returns would be the actual posts instead of an italicized snippet.

Sometimes I'm looking for an image I posted in a thread and it's painful as fuck to search through those pages looking for the results that don't have an italicized snippet, open in new tab to see if it's the right post, close it and keep going when it isn't....

put .gif or .jpg into your search string if you're trying to find an image.

I dunno, I just searched for ".gif" and posts by me, and it returned all the posts I've made that had gifs in it or posts I've quoted that contains gifs.

There were some dumb beginnings of modern leftism in shows back then, but nothing like this decade.

It is an awesome, hilarious show, though. Not to be binged, as just about every episode is the same formula, but perfect for chilling with every once in a while.

I mean the 90's were chock full of tokens and encroaching woke nonsense, but Frasier was extremely light on both. I don't recall it ever being attacked for it's nature but Friends and Seinfeld were both criticized for being too white, both back then and more recently, despite both of those shows being fairly progressive ultimately.

Not to be binged, as just about every episode is the same formula, but perfect for chilling with every once in a while.

Speak for yourself, I'm having a blast going through the show right now, I don't find it much more formulaic than most sitcoms. The writing and acting are both great and that's more than enough, I also really enjoy most of the settings.

I mean, maybe? I just didn’t find it annoying. In this case, the woke messages were pretty positive, almost similar to mainstream conservatism today, in terms of, it doesn’t matter what color you are, or what you believe, or whatever. We’re all people just making our way. That kind of thing.

I binged hard on Frasier last time I watched it. It was awesome, but it was definitely hurt in that kind of viewing environment, by ultimately being the same thing every episode. Frazier (or someone else) gets into a socially awkward situation. Shenanigans ensue.

It’s amazing, but I advise people to watch it like it was intended. Every week or once in a while.

Biggest political scandal of modern times (well, maybe — Obamagate and Clinton SoS pay for play are impressive too. Lovely administration), plus social media transparently trying to cover it up. All for a presidential candidate. I’m not surprised.

You're basically describing every sitcom ever here lol. They're all rote and formulaic, it comes down to how good the jokes and performances are imo. It doesn't bother me that they're not taking me to never before seen narrative heights. Those kinds of shows I tend to watch once and be done with, Breaking Bad for example. Sitcoms I'll rewatch every few years.

I am. Seinfeld makes for an easy burnout on binge as well. It’s a good caution with these types of shows, when modern expectations and TV have shifted to a different kind of nature.

YMMV I guess, I have never burned myself out on a sitcom I enjoyed, I typically get to the end and am sad that there isn't more to watch and I won't see it again for a while.

90s sitcoms weren't designed with binge watching in mind. They're largely rinse and repeat for a reason.

Seinfeld didn't even really have any arc whatsoever until like Season 4 or so when George starts dating Susan iirc.

Idk, I still prefer those shows to what's on TV now. Maybe I'm numb.

Ninge is something that usually new shows account for due to existence of streaming services.
Back then it was once a week and that was it. Seinfeld aged like wine IMO, specially due to the woke nature of things lately.
Same as The Office. Until, you know, that happens.

I mean I approached it that way anyway but I genuinely did not expect the amount of people calling vetted information BS and foaming at the mouth the same way they did with a twitter post. It was really dumb. I had some people following me around threads quoting months old posts any chance they could.

And when the information was revealed to be spot on, not a single apology or anything even remotely showing remorse for acting like a complete ass clown.

I will say I did get a few PM's saying they appreciated that the information came true because of all the BS insider shit that was getting passed around during the lead up to these machines. That was nice.

But I will likely never do that again. It was really stupid and frankly I dont understand why it was allowed. If we have to go through a vetting process to get information labeled as vetted why are people allowed to cry fake over and over and literally harass people? Not my call but it doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I have a good heart, so I literally take time out to remind myself of this every day.

Facebook memes aside, setting expectations, and letting the surprise be the awesome people that are out there, is the way to go. Always expect somebody to take it to a new level of depravity and stupidity. Because they will.

For example, I saw someone recently mocking the Digital Foundry guy’s very large scar on his face, over and over again, because he didn’t say what the poster wanted about their piece of plastic. I don’t know Alex’s level of comfort with whatever happened to him, but in some people that could invoke severe trauma, emotional damage, and insecurity. All over a shitty new console.

I always err on the side of less moderation, but I really recommend either just ignoring the idiots, with the feature or in general, or trolling their ridiculousness to the point where that behavior is disincentivized, and the board is that much better. Whatever works for you.

Just don’t let stupidity dictate what you post. That’s how they win. Set your expectations to rock bottom, and aim for the best Gaf posters (and readers that may not have an account — we have thousands watching) with your best content. Which also attracts other great posters and content.
