SMH concern trolling by saying they are having issues that will be worked out?

lol ok
Yes, concern trolling. You're saying that them keeping the UI at 1080p instead of 4K means that they're having issues. That is literally concern trolling lol. You're literally making up FUD to act concerned about the state of the Series X.

What evidence do you have to suggest that they're having issues getting the UI to run at 4K? Any at all? No? Didn't think so.

Depending on the display size it will be noticeable, 1080p on 65-75" screen will be blurry, there's just no way around it, if necessary enlarge the OS RAM size from 2.5GB to 3GB and make it done.

12 TF = 1080p UI
10.3*********TF = 4k UI

At first it was the TFlops, then it was loading times, now it's the UI wars, cconsole launches are surely an experience to behold.

It would be nice, but it only matters now because PS5 apparently has a 4k UI. Wow, big win there. PS4 apparently had that as well, and then no one cared.

It's just odd. They've been working on this console for years, and nobody thought that it would be an idea to have the UI run at 4k natively? Again it's not lack of hardware or power that the issue...it's Microsoft that's holding back the Xbox.

Some people, me included, are pissed off at having a 720p UI for the docked Switch on a 4K TV and do not look forward to upscaled 1080p UI’s elsewhere either.

I can empathise more with the stress some people feel when talking to hardcore PS fans too now, literally nothing bad can be bad enough to have this core group fail to defend it somehow (even on things that are not maybe subjective, like I feel PS5 is the ugliest/unwieldy functional console design I have seen so far for the last 30 years). This thread is a good example of the green camp engaging in it too... tiring...

SMH if I was concern trolling I would say it's 1080P because the console can't handle a 4K UI or something stupid like that.

I have a 65" 4k tv and an xbox one x and would never of known that it wasn't 4k until pointed out. it aint a problem and it defiantly aint blurry

Microsoft = literally the biggest OS company on earth.

Microsoft = runs GUI 1080p on system that everybody calls fastest console

Launch in a month

Sony have been running 4k OS since 2016 (i dont personally care, I have 1080p tv) on much weaker hardware. Sony runs it again at 4k on "weaker hardware"

So, if the biggest windows developer cant get their OS to run at 4k for launch:

1: they have big issues on software

2: they dont want to do it

I could bet the 1st, because lack of next gen games shown on X + no RT on launch also sounds like software problem. Maybe their APIs and OS is still months away from being ready, so they do what they can?

Or they dont want to show games or do 4k OS, but why?

Maybe it's not running in 4k because they've only ported the same one from xbone. Hopefully they change it and have it ready for launch.

Doesn’t seem like a big deal if you ask me. Sure I am happy that Sony went 4K with the UI, but would it really have bothered me that much if it was 1080p? Not really I guess. Microsoft has done a much better job with this generation then last time, in pretty much every aspect, so I don’t think this is a big deal. You guys will still enjoy your console just as much as we will ours.

I mean you literally said it is having problems running a 4K UI so it’s currently 1080p. How is that any different in the concern stakes?

At least I guess you don’t seem to be as deep in as this guy.....

What would you prefer, more RAM for games to use or to render a few squares that you’ll see for maybe 10 seconds every time you use your console in 4K even though it’ll upscale to 4K perfectly due to how simple it is graphically?

This shouldn’t be a hard question, but we seem to have people wishing that there was less ram available for devs lol.

So why are you bringing up sony adding a second processor or more ram or MS adding an extra 4GB of ram?

Also lol at "rage replies". You're the one carrying on like a porkchop in this thread.

You specifically said sony added more ram to the secondary processor to do the 4K UI, and then you said that MS added an extra 4GB of system ram. You've switched your concern now to MS not being able to figure out how to do a 4K UI

See the bolded? That's what we call concern trolling.
Not every opinion about xbox is concern trolling man. God forbid someone has an opinion on someone's favorite console. How can we have discussions then?

Didn't even realise on my one x

Not bothered in the slightest. If I had to pick the best bits from each console this would be the bottom of the list of PS5 advantages...

Never noticed that ui is not 4k on my Xbox one x, probably because I only use it to jump into games, I do most of my downloading and buying via mobile apps

For people that never noticed because...well you had nothing to compare it to, there is a big difference. I remember having my base PS4 for 3 years and switching it for the Pro. The image was day and night difference in fonts and flowing graphics in the background. But again, if all your xbox consoles were teh same, of course you wouldnt notice it. If XSX had 4K UI, it would jump out to you in a second.

I have got a 4K tv and have got PS4 pro plugged in, I have not noticed a massive difference. Also have my pc plugged in to 4K monitor/tv, so I am used to to 4K (all my devices are 4K)

MS can't do it, MS didn't consider it, MS having problems doing it...

What a bunch of drama queens 😂

MS originally chose not to do it to free up memory for the actual games. They saw it as unwarranted. And as a user, I would agree.

I've never missed a 4k UI, and it's not blurry.

Maybe it will come, maybe it won't. But I for one don't care regardless. I use the thing to start a game and a party, and that's it!

Again, I used PS4 for 3 years. The Pro came in and I plugged it in right away. Only a blind person wouldn't notice. What does you having 4K viewing experience from your PC have to do with actual difference from 1080 to 4k UI for the Pro? If you never had them plugged in side by side I already said, you would not even notice. Point is, this is going to be used for the next 5-6 years. 1080p in 2026 lol.

I’ve got a LG OLED but thanks for trying. You have fun playing the dashboard in 2025 because it’s probably the only stable high frame rate 4K thing you’ll get on your PS5 ;)

People in here are legitimately wanting to take RAM away from games in order to have a higher native resolution of the dashboard. The dashboard. This is absurd. Fanboyism taken to the next level.

Just because you have a small tv, doesn't mean other people play on that... The 4k dash on the Pro looks alot better on my Pseudo 4k projector, it really is a big difference, but to each there own I guess

So it’s not okay for people to “concern troll on Xbox”, but you saying it’s the only thing that will run at a stable 4K with high frame rates is fine ? You seem to troll PlayStation yourself, so don’t expect others not to troll Xbox.

So no one see the the humor in the fact that the company that is known for their OS is somehow having trouble getting their UI into 4K on a 12TF console while Sony is out here running games in 4K with pop up UI doing all types of foolishness & juggling a picture in picture around the screen while you play games?
Sony always had the best OS though. Windows has less competition, you pretty much have to use it.

A 1080p OS in 2020 makes no sense. Knowing Microsoft though, since there is so much noise about it, even from their own influencers like Jeff Grubb, they will update it to 4k. How that affects their OS maybe a different story, their OS might get slower and the vram they had assigned for not going 4K, they would have to forgo that......

if the difference cannot be spotted unless things are side by side what is the point of going 4K for the Ui?

So the One X had 1080 while the Pro had 4K? Guess no one will notice the difference then because otherwise we would have had a 100 page long thread here right after the One X release.
This.

Although I do notice the difference personally between UI sharpness on my Xbox One S and PS4 Pro, it is mostly glossed over by my utter dislike of the Xbox One UI.

Remember when their were insiders saying PS5 was struggling to run games in 4k even though they were the only one to show next gen games running on their platform, and people were having a field day. Now Xbox isn't even running their UI in 4k, and it's "console wars are dumb".

We all knew, but you would be surprised that many of us don't make an issue or pitchfork everything for console wars...

I'll say this though, native on a 4K screen is miles better......I'm sure the many people saying "I'd take a 720p UI or 1080p UI", clearly have not seen or been privy to a 4K UI.....I guarantee they would never go back to 1080p if a 4K UI is announced from MS. They would be the first announcing how great the 4K UI looks....

Maybe pick one? Is it unabashed baseless concern or is it "we don't make an issue of everything"?

A 4TF console had a 4k UI in 2016. A 12TF console is still running a 1080p UI in near 2021. That's the reality and fact, not concern. There is no reason why that should be, with the CPU's, Ram Speeds and SSD's on these consoles, a 1080p OS should not be a feature on any of these consoles, unless you have the option to scale, even Series S should render the OS in 4k..... In truth, both of these consoles will standardize 4k gaming and the reality is, you could have gotten a 4k set for peanuts for more than 5 years ago....

honest question... who the fuck cares? like... that's basically the least important thing ever, what would you gain by having a 4k Dashboard? it's flat icons using flat PNG files and flat shapes surrounding them
Thats a lot of flatness..

Oh, Microsoft have confirmed the Series X won't be in 4k at launch?

Meh. Dick-measuring aside, this is a non-factor. Feature set is far more important than resolution. So long as the text is legible, and there is no visible aliasing, then no one should care one way or another.

4k would be nice but I would prioritise HDR over it, especially with BC games supporting auto HDR.

The display panel constantly flitting between HDR/SDR when going to the dash can't be good for my panel 🥺

That's why I switched it off this gen, it drives me crazy the constant switching, also i don't think HDR implementation on my projector is that great.. kinda makes stuff a bit more blurry in motion, if you have a good HDR panel, auto HDR awesome.
