GAF's Nintendo Discussion, News, and Speculation |OT|

I’m starting to regret not buying physical copies of everything. I have everything digital, and it’s getting to be a pain re-buying games for my kids. What a fool I was to assume Nintendo would have family game sharing!

I always go physical for Nintendo when the option exists. Their historic poor approach to digital ownership mixed with the high resale value of their games makes it an easy decision.

I was under the impression that if your account was one of the accounts on any given switch that the other profiles on that Switch would have access to your games. My wife's account can access my games on our Switch for instance.

I think it only works that way if that Switch is your account's primary Switch. I'm not 100% sure though it's all a little murky. Like, your wife's account can access your games on your Switch because that's your account's primary Switch. If you had a second Switch in the house and hers was primary on that one and yours was secondary, I don't think she'd be able to play your games from her account.

This is just based off some half-assed experimentation I did with my brother's Switch a couple months ago.

Yep. Each Nintendo Account can have one primary Switch associated with it. That is your main console. Any other accounts on the main console will have access to your games so long as the console.

If you add your account to a second or third Switch you can play your games as long as the console is connected to the internet.

Interestingly, they did the sideways thing already with Romancing Saga 3:

Yeah was making a joke. The covers are harkening back to the Super Famicom boxes-Square games were displayed horizontally whereas most covers were displayed vertically.

I have 3 Switches in my house at the moment. Only my primary Switch can play my purchases offline, and have other users play all my purchased games and DLC. So, my son’s Switch is my “primary” Switch, and my Lite is the one I usually end up using. I also have an Animal Crossing Switch my wife plays, but I ended up buying her a separate copy of Animal Crossing. Now, my daughter is interested in the Switch and I have a lot of juggling with users and games and DLC. It’s ridiculous. I should have just gotten physical copies of everything.

There doesn't seem to be a thread for Mario Kart Live, so does anyone know if you can drive around with the RC car without going to all the trouble of setting up a course? Basically, could my kids just use the Switch to drive the vehicle around the house for fun, like they would any RC car, without being in a race?

From the couple of videos I've seen online it looks like you can do that, yeah.

Probably Gamexplain or Nintendo Life or something would confirm it.

Pretty sure there is a mode that let's them just drive around with the car.

So, restarting Smash and picking up DLC pack 2 makes for a very weird, almost alt-history, character select screen, lol.

(Could totally see Piranha Plant being an N64 character)

Steve is fun. He’s surprisingly not that difficult to use (although I haven’t figured out how to place blocks yet), just... awkward at first. Mining, in particular, just becomes a thing you do every time you get a moment, like recharging the Splatoon ink.

Some of the moves, and crafting, are a little more trickier to work into your flow, but really enjoyable. Getting the dynamite kill with the fuse and ranged pressure plate feels awesome, hahaha.

There will be a physical version of FF9 in Asia (will have English language as well). Let's hope the box is in English as well.

There is a high probability it has english box, as Final Fantasy VII & VIII double pack also has. Not only that, but the twin pack is officially coming to Europe this december, so this one could come later as well. I like that boxart though.

Min Min and Steve were such awesome additions, they add something so unique to a roster of like 200 characters. Played against a couple of good Steves yesterday and it honestly didn't feel like Smash. I didn't even know how to approach them.

I know, lol. That’s why I try to get a little basic familiarity with every character, because some of these are just wtf to fight against.

I mean, this is the guy that described the Wii U port of Batman as ‘NOT THE SAME GAME, NOT THE SAME CONTENT’, lol.

I love Reggie, but he is that used car salesman type.
He did have the unenviable job of having to hype up the Wii U though. He was always great in Directs and E3s.

Finally got to play Smash online today. I had so much fun with it. CPUs, training, and classic mode are cool, but getting to grips with a new character with real players, and starting to figure out awesome moves and tactics, is where it’s at.

Really? God tier taste right there, ZSS is the best character. I don't even have a second pick, the other day I tried to play a bit with Lucina (who I started with) and it's like I didn't even know how to play the game lol.

It’s really hard to go back from that speed. Unlike Sheik, I can actually do something with it here, lol. It just feels like I can put out four moves before the opponent even takes their first.

Yep and she has great recovery, good range and some moves that can kill early. Oh and some actually deadly final smash if it gets to that.

What the fuck is a ZSS

Zero Salt Samba.

Y'all aren't ready for my Link main.

Don't mind me spamming Up+B in the corner.

I'm pretty bad at smash

Oh yes, the normie pick since 99.

I’m actually going to try to avoid falling into the pattern of using all my old favorites this time, and really commit to new characters for the first time since 64, lol.

It’s way too easy to briefly try a character, then fall back to the comfort of a character you’ve been using for 20 years. That’s pretty tough competition.

May pick up Banjo-Kazooie in a sec. Or buy the whole pack. $50 in DLC in one day, tho. :messenger_fearful:

Btw, I wanted to ask something that I think is on topic, because it will forever be a Nintendo classic, and I won’t listen to anything otherwise.

I have never played Banjo Kazooie outside of the Walmart demo. Is it still amazing after all these years?

I’m about to completely finish Sunshine, and I still kind of have a hunger for more. Rather than going to 64 for the umpteenth time...

Do you have an Xbox One? If so, get Rare Replay right now and go play BK and BT once you're done with Sunshine Galaxy. Both hold up very well, BT is more of a weird metroidvania, BK is straight up Mario 64 2. The worst level in the game has the best music:

Yep. GamePass as well. I can be playing it in a finger snap. It’s been tempting me every time I scroll through the menu.

I really hope Rare Replay, or just the N64 parts, comes to Switch some day. A homecoming for several of these games would be so awesome. And I don’t see what making a bunch of money off of decade old games would hurt.

I've been on the Rare Replay to Switch train for years now, it makes too much sense. Give Goldeneye the Perfect Dark treatment while we're at it and I might even get a SEX.
