Who remembers “Biker Mice from Mars”?

With cartoons being so lame today, and having even lamer titles (Adventure Time! How not generic!), who remembers one of the most BA cartoons of the 90s, Biker Mice from Mars?

if you didn’t experience this absolute joy, it is about Mice. From Mars. Who ride alpha motorcycles. And they have robotic arms / weapons that shoot stuff. Need I say more?

Plus the character design(s) were amazing. Such a great show, with even greater toys. These kids today don’t know how awesome action figures of the 90s were.

Here is episode 1, for the uninitiated:

Biker Mice from Mars and Street Sharks used to come on back to back for me. Loved both shows. 90's had the best cartoons. We were spoiled with quality cartoon shows.
I feel like Biker Mice wouldn’t fit today’s “standards”.

It was a pretty masculine show.

It’s a shame, as it was awesome.

O man, I don't think a lot of those shows from the 90's would be very couth with today's society. But we are living in strange time as well so who knows. People would find a reason to "cancel" it. Or they would try.

I loved Biker Mice.
I watched the show, read the comics and had a load of action figures and bikes.

Vinnie was my favourite although they were all cool.

Oh yeah, I loved this one as a kid. They are still funny to watch now. Especially the Finnish dub, thats some legendary stuff. Some... questionable stuff there, even.

Every show from previous decades has something that would get it booted off TV today.

I'm watching Frasier and there's an episode where Roz is dating different people while being a single mother, she is fooling around with Bulldog from work but doesn't really want to. There's a scene where she's trying to make this clear to him and he's trying to set up their date, she gets cut off while he pushes her against the wall and kisses her, there is some muffled protests before she caves in and says "ok 8pm" or whatever, but in 2020 that's straight up rape with murderous intent.

Look, if we're going back to talk about the awesome but forgotten toons of the 90s, we HAVE to bring up the darkest of early 90s children animation (in America), Mighty Max

Of the 52 episodes the show had, about 70% of them began with someone out right dying. Not hinted at dying, not assumed dead. The show made sure you knew this person was dead.

In the first minute a man is murdered by a three headed werewolf and we are shown, as kids no less, the blood stains and chalked outline of the body.

And the entirety of "Bring me the head of Mighty Max" gave me nightmares as a kid, fucking relentless horror

Outside of it's dark nature, the show still holds up. There are a few things dating it, mainly Max's clothes and hair, but he rarely uses 90's lingo, rarely in take in 90s pass times and most of the show focuses on situations outside of anything that could really date it. Whats more the animation holds up way too well for a show based on a toy (that failed no less). Even shows like transformers and TMNT had tons of animation errors, repeated animations and blatant shortcuts, but Might Max looked to have a budget that allowed it to have nearly Disney (TV) animation. The heavy shadow artwork screams 90's edgy comic books, but really works for the tone the show is aiming for and works masterfully as tones and colors change.

And the voice talent, my god, both Tony Ja AND Tim Curry, how can you go wrong with that combination (the first person to say Mighty Ducks is getting punched).

The show was overall great but the short run, failed toy and lack of syndication caused it to fall by the wayside, and that is just terrible.

Biker Mice from Mars prepared me for what to expect from Limburger cheese.
Street Sharks, Mighty Max, Reboot and Biker Mice from Mars are such legendary IP's from the 90's.

One weird thing I did as a kid was having as hobby going to a supermarket with my two friends to stare Biker Mice From Mars toys for half an hour, talk about how cool they were and how we would play with them. After days doing that we got the attention of the employees. They were worried we would steal the toys.

Seems kind of sad, writing as an adult, but at the time was fun! It really was a weird hobby. I remember how excited I was when one friend told me he discovered another store in our small city which had Biker Mice From Mars toys since the supermarket was starting to get dangerous for our staring business.

We liked the show a lot.

Bravestarr
Centurions
Mysterious Cities Of Gold

Early to mid 90s had a lot of great stuff too, probably funnier type stuff like Animaniacs, Samurai Pizza Cats and the Mario Brothers Cartoon.

80s was all high fantasy and action adventure

Can we ALL at least agree that Batman: The Animated Series is the best Cartoon ever?

Growing up in the 90s was pretty awesome. It's the little things like this that I'm pretty sure kids don't get to experience anymore. I hardly even see kids outside anymore. When we were growing up it was usually at least 3-4 of us playing basketball or just goofing off.

I remember doing something similiar at one of the local comic shops with those OG xmen figures. The dudes there would chop it up with us and wouldn't get too annoyed that we would come in all the time and rarely buy anything.

My only Biker Mice-related memory is, the last day of summer vacation before 7th grade, I was at a someone's house playing a copy of the game for hours, non-stop. I was depressed about summer being over, school starting again, and I drowned my sorrows in that game. That night, I tried to go to sleep, depressed about the next day. You know the Tetris Effect? I had the Biker Mice effect: with my eyes closed, all I could see was isometric mice on motorbikes riding around. I couldn't fall asleep, and it all blended into this surreal hellscape of anxiety, insomnia, and nonsense video game imagery.

90's kids kinda got the best of both an analog strange ass 80's world going into the digital age of the mid-late 90's which changed everything so we've gotten a taste of both sides.

Loved it. It was one of my favorite shows back then. Never tried the SNES game, though. With that being said, someone should make a "good" game based on that franchise. But what genre would it be? Some kind of Brawler x Road Rash hybrid?

I grew up with some of these shows. TMNT(80s), random shows from that time period...having to adjust rabbit ear antenna so I could see CBS and FOX..NBC came in just fine on Saturdays. Cartoons as early as 6am and pretty much being over by 1pm? 2? There really are too many to list, some good...some bad. Some barely stuck around for a season.

Later years I would catch the occasional good show. Justice League, etc.

I don't remember a lot of these unless I take a trip down youtube lane, but what is really sad? Seeing remakes, re-imaginings of what I grew up with, shows that remind me of my youth, a time with different worries...ruined. I think it bothers me more than it should.
