Would you like slimmed down faceplates for the PS5?

Would you like a faceplate that matches the PS5s shape?

I know that third parties and Sony might produce faceplates for the PS5. But wouldn't it be nice if the faceplate reached the vents of the system?

Here's a post from a user that gives us an idea on what it might look like.

Did these back in June:

The third party potential for these things could be massive. Mine is going to go in a closed up media cabinet anyway so I don't care (and I think the original looks great), but excited to see the possibilities.

I don't like the look but options are fine. Def not in stock consoles manufactured by Sony - the high collar gives it style. Third party is fine.

It takes me back to those circular stickers on the PS1. I think it all depends. I’m not one to just sticker my electronics. I have some Kojima Productions stickers that I have no clue what to stick them on. Being that these are a lot more durable than stickers. I would be more inclined to purchase one.

Remember the faceplates for the PS4 back with Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy XV? Those didn’t exactly stand out, even though they looked cool. It doesn’t sound that hard to do. I would want something that looked cool and didn’t feel like it took away from the value of the PS5. Ive seen some horrendous decal stickers.

They actually look pretty cool.

I think the design they went with is to really make sure people give it proper ventilation.

if I get a ps5 those things are coming off and going to stay off.
will it be able to stand without the plates? I know horizontally it won’t, I don’t think vertically either. It wont

closed in huh? Damn, I would like to do that but that’s gonna be a hot one, no?

I have holes in the back so its not tooootally closed. And if it seems to be a problem I can leave the door cracked a bit. My PS4 pro works fine this way, my Xbox One X worked fine that way ... I think the new systems will be even better so, I'm not worried.

It might look cool. Would need to see real units. Also like others I wonder if the collars are for airflow.

i guess I’ll give it a try and see. I was sold on putting it behind my tv vertically because I felt like this was the first time a console, both next gen consoles actually, were made with vertical orientation as default and it would stay cool and quiet and not mess with the disc drive. Out of curiosity, how much clearance do you have on the sides if laid horizontally in your cabinet?

Look where the fan is. If you have a plate flush to that you're in trouble. I'm sure these plates have been designed in the plate version of a wind tunnel. I'm sure one day they'll have a ps5 slim - i guess when cooling technology gets to where they can replace the giant heat sink - but with this core machine design i don't see much scope for variation in the panel form.

not gonna lie, the pic in the OP look actually way better than the og design.

I really hope that some third party will offer a high quality version of exactly that design!

official would be best but I really don't expect Sony to release official face plates. and I don't know why people expect that? the PS4 Pro also had a SUPER easy to change out top plate and Sony did nothing with that potential outside of full on Special Edition consoles.
on base PS4 they offered a handful outside of japan and some more interesting ones in Japan but that also faded out real quick

but some high quality 3rd party plates would be nice

I essentially have two of these with holes added to the back and also between the compartments for some cable routing between cabinets. Dimensions should be on the site.

Here is a pic of the actual setup. No wires visible, Switch is in there too. PS4 pro takes a cabinet, switch (and snes mini) gets one, Xbox gets one, uhd player gets one. Ill probably use the PS5 disc version or Xbox Series X as my UHD player after I get them, reducing the number of stuff I have which would be nice.

They’re probably designed in such a way for when people put them in entertainment centers they don’t block the vents and have them up against the sides.

Slimmed down ones will work for those who are more conscious of this. There will be a great third party for custom designs guaranteed.

Chose don’t care either way.

I can't wait for the PS5 wig addons:

This person needs help, lol. The customers who prop up the business are even worse though.

Colour me cynical but I have my doubts over how common these will be. The Gamecube one had so much potential but what did we get? I only recall Metroid Prime, and you had to buy a new console to get it.

Then 360 came around and I thought ok MS will do this better than Nintendo. We got a dozen or so options then it just kinda died off. I hope Sony pushes this harder. But I just have this bad feeling all the great plates will require you to purchase a whole new console.
