Question: if an 8-pin connector can supply up to 150 watts, then how can two of them supply 350 watts to the SKUs of the RTX 3090 that have only two 8-pin ports?

Amazing that you're in a thread with people who have offered to purchase it from you as well as those who are really struggling to obtain a new card and you're asking what's the best way to go about scalping it, sheesh.
There's nothing amazing about what I'm asking about; this is business, not charity. It would be in my best interest to use the profit to subsidize the cost of my RTX 3090. We're talking about luxuries, not necessities.

What I mean is are two 8-pin ports and a PCIe slot as sources of power as sufficient (and efficient) as three 8-pin ports as a source of power?
That doesn't make sense, there's always power drawn from the PCI-E slot, never just from the 8-pins. Only up to 65W can be drawn from a PCI-E slot IIRC. If a card has 3 8-pin slots it's to draw up to 150W more power for more stable OC.

You can frame it however you want to justify it but its shitty. Again there's people here trying their hardest to obtain a card and you're asking them to help you with scalping one. This is a thread to discuss the 3000 series gpus, not a auction house or marketplace.

Like I said, these cards are luxuries, not necessities. Furthermore, I'm the one who stood outside of Micro Center for an hour before it opened for several days until I could finally buy the card and I'm the one who paid for it. I can do with it as I please.

Christ I feel like I'm talking to a child. Go ahead and scalp it, but don't come into this thread to ask people struggling to obtain one to help you with scalping it,fuck right off with that bs.

That's like going into a PS5/XSX preorder thread mentioning how you got a second one and are looking to profit from the second one by scalping it. If you dont understand how shitty that is then I can't really explain it any more clearer. Dont be an asshole, really that simple, or maybe it isn't for you.

I get you want to resale your 3080. I also get that it wouldn't be beneficial to sell it at cost when it's in high demand and people are paying much more for it. But going 2x the cost is just being greedy. I paid $900 over MSRP for my 3090 because I wasn't going to be waiting in line for a year to get this card. However, I wasn't going to pay 2x the cost. If you want to help offset the 3090, I can see you raising the asking price a little more than MSRP.

Honesty, I was just being hypothetical, because I'm too scared to risk selling the card and subsequently being scammed via eBay or harmed by meeting someone in person via Facebook Marketplace. More than likely I'm just going to return the card or keep it and upgrade it to an EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 via EVGA's step-up program, for which I've already signed the card up.

However, my point is that it's my property and it's no one else's right to attack me because of what I hypothetically consider doing with it.

People don't like the fact that you have the card and are trying to get more money for it while others are desperately trying to get the card in the first place. It's an insensitive move. Surely you understand that.

On a gaming forum how edgy sir
I bet that will give you so much attention!

I finally got a ping on my phone this morning, my number had come up in the queue and there is a 3080 Gaming Trio X waiting for me. So that's now installed and all seems good, but I'm having trouble connecting it to my TV. It's a 65" LG CX and I can connect it and get a picture but only in 1024x768. The options to go higher are there but when I choose those it asks me "do I wish to keep this resolution" even though it hasn't changed. Then when I select yes, it goes back to 1024x768.
WTFIGO?

Latest drivers, latest TV firmware and have had no problems with my 1080 and 2080ti.

Sounds like your HDMI cable may not be able to handle the 40GBps. You really must have a top of the line cable for it to work.

There are still some issues being ironed out. So it may take several firmware/driver updates to work.

Btw, your post is confusing. You got a ping on your phone this morning? Was it a local pickup since you got it installed?

Don't read too much into it, I was in the queue for cards at my retailer and today was my lucky day.

My 4GB RX 570 really needs to retire soon. Will try to hold out for the 16GB 3070 or maybe the rumored 7nm TSMC chips next year. But if RDNA2 is impressive I may just stick with AMD

Thanks for the tip+ about "48gbps" now I have a term to search for, I live in Finland so those places won't deliver to me. I need a 7m cable, what about those on aliexpress? Actually I can't seem to find a cable longer than 3m.

Sorry to harp on about these cables, at least I'm not trying to scalp my card :)
Would these do the trick? I can't find any length over 5m so I have to do some re-arranging.

I scored a 3090 arrived a couple of days ago. This thing is fast as hell and possibly runs hotter, it is actually too hot to place your hand on the back plate after it's been running for 10 minutes. I've never had that before in a card. Auto boosts without OC to just under 2ghz.

Spent 4 days on the Nvidia discord and had Distill refreshing pages every 10 seconds. I actually bought and had refunded about 8 cards over the 4 days on Discord. Stores taking funds and then emailing cancellation mails shortly after. It's a mess.

If you're after a card then look for stores getting shipments in. Sometimes they will have certain brands stock (Inno3d, KFA2, Zotac etc) which are surplus to any pre-orders, but too early for it to be placed on their web page yet. Phone them.

Or just wait. By what I'm told the end of the month will have a large quantity of stock arriving.

How do you know there's something wrong? If it stays under 80C, that's normal.

Where did I say something was wrong?

The highest I've seen the GPU temp is 88'c. I've bought some stronger case fans and changed the cards fan profile and just hit 75'c now running Division with everything on max 4k @ 200% scaling.

You talked about refunding 8 cards.

But yeah, 30X0 are hard to come buy so it seemed unusual that you'd get to try out that many cards while you probably meant you cancelled pre-/back orders. :lollipop_grinning:

No. I made purchases of around 8 cards from online stores , but stores then emailed me saying they couldn't fulfil the order and refunded me.

Yeah but you gotta look at it from their perspective (the perspective of those who do really want the card and can't get one). You are a part of this community and you are casually inviting other community members to get ripped off. Yes, everybody here is technically a stranger, but you took the time to register here, make an account here, and chose to become a part of this social circle....now you want to hose people and take advantage of them. You sound like a dirtbag. Oh you scared you might get ripped off on craigslist? But you want to come here and rip people off? You a real piece of work. "I'm just a business man," LMAO shut the fuck up, no the fuck you're not.

Where are you getting the idea that I want to rip anyone off, particularly the people of this community? I clearly said that I was merely hypothesizing and while doing so I never said that I would sell to anyone here.

May you continue to suffer the rest of the year without a card for defaming me.

Oh first it's just business, now you are just hypothesizing. Which is it? LOL, you aren't hypothesizing, you threw that out there to see if you could get a sucker here to bite because you know it is admittedly safer than selling on Ebay or FB marketplace, and because the people here are more likely to be genuine. Now you bakcpedalling because people here aren't stupid and called you on it.

No, it would be no safer to sell to someone here than to sell to someone on eBay or Facebook Marketplace, because everyone here is a stranger to me just like anyone who'd buy from me on those platforms. Being a member here doesn't make anyone innately more trustworthy than someone who's not.

If you’re going to scalp it, scalp it. Don’t try and justify it. It is a scummy thing to do, but it’s a dog eat dog world, so if you have a chance to make some cash, just do it if you want to.

I'm not going to scalp it; doing so is too risky.

If anyone wants a 3080, the best thing to do at this moment is to get on EVGA's Autonotify list. It seems that they have a really nice system set up so that each person who signs up will get a personal link sent to them to purchase when the item is available and will be given an 8 hour window and the invites will only be sent out during business hours.

That seems like as good of an option as any to get one.

EDIT: Apparently I signed up back in Sep. 19th as I tried to sign up again. We will see how quickly I get a notification. Not planning on actually getting one though. 10GB just doesn't feel like a good long term investment.

Spoiler Alert:

He is going to scalp it and he is well within his right to do so.

I'm honestly not. If I were to sell it via eBay, I'd have to worry about it getting lost or damaged during transport, or the buyer damaging it and demanding a refund, or the buyer receiving it but claiming that they didn't receive it. I'd take the risk with an old game console that I bought years prior, but I wouldn't take the risk with a new graphics card that cost close to $1000.00 and hasn't depreciated.

sell it localy and meet in person.

No, I'd have to manually verify numerous bills for authenticity, which I've never done before. I'm keeping the card and upgrading it to an EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 whenever I get the chance.

What bills ? Im saying put an add, get a phone call and then meet with a fellow face to face and an exchange of goods will take place. He will part with his money and you with the card.
