Are Series X/S Or PS5 Coming with HDMI 2.1 Cord Included In Box?

Do you need a long HDMI cable? If not, don't really bother. Optic fiber HDMI 2.1 seems the best as well. But no need to, this one have 5 stars rating out of 5,326 votes!

I already have one. Premium with certification. GE brand. Very rare and expensive to get in Brazil, but looks like I'll trade as soon as I get a PS5.

PS5 came with a cheap Ultra HDMI cable?

Be shocked if they do. Doesn't really make sense considering the niche nature of TV's that actually support native 120 hz.

If anyone is going to though it would probably by the Series X console. I don't see don't Sony doing anything like that. Doubt either will though.

HDMI 2.1?

Of course it's HDMI 2.1. Both PS5 and Xbox Series X will come with one that has been thoroughly tested. It'll probably be 2m cable.

Yes, you need an expesnive one when you go for very long cables for people with unordinary setups. For the majority of people, no need for the FOMO, just use what's in the box.

This is factually incorrect.

Both will have HDMI 2.1 cable, it's too cheap anyway for them to provide it. They won't give you gold-coated ones anyway.

Xbox Series X HDMI chipset bandwidth is 40Gbps instead of 48Gbps though, no details about PS5's if the same or full 48Gbps.

Ok but that had nothing to do with my post though. I think you meant to quote my other post.

I was referring to a poster claiming that it's required. That is incorrect.

It'll be included, but it's not required if you're not interested in 4K@120Hz mode (doesn't mean 120fps, but higher refresh rate = better input lag), ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), VRR (Variable Refresh Rate, which saves GPU power from using VSYNC but still adds latency overall to fight tearing).

Maybe you already know all this and more, I believe.

I know a bit, but I'll defer to your knowledge as you seem more technical that I am. I don't have a TV that can take advantage of it anyway.

I worry more about picture quality and HDR on my TV's as opposed to frame rate. That's what monitors are for.

The fact that sony charges $70 for it's dualsense controller and doesn't even give you a USB-C cable makes me think otherwise.

It has a USB cable, you're confused from not having a cable with every controller, which doesn't make sense as it never been like that to begin with:

If you already have a good 4K HDR tv that's HDMI 2.0 you'll be 90-99% satisfied with it, trust me. I might try out those 4K@120Hz modes if they're attached to higher than 60fps only. But if 4K@120Hz would work even with 30fps games then that's actually a great tech to have to push input lag down to be as fast as monitors in around 5-7ms.

Here is a Sony XH90 (X900H) talking about it:

Still, you don't really need to over think about it, it's a luxury to have, but not a necessity to get full satisfaction from next gen games.

Just because they've always ripped off the costumer doesn't make it right.

Xbox controllers come with no batteries, not much buzz about it.

I like my OLED's. Not sure I would consider a Sony.

Use the cable that comes with the console. If you need a longer cable, you should wait until certified cables are available. Manufacturers can take 18gbps cables and sell them as 48gbps cables.

You can buy a Monoprice 48Gbps cable.

Well the PS4 Pro came with a 6-ft (2 meters) HDMI cable (I just checked), so I can only expect the same with the PLAYSTATION 5.

And for those wondering, Yes they are HDMI 2.1 cables, because it says 8-K HDR on the PS5 retail box.

Looking at the Series X cable from leaked unboxings, it looked over 1.5 inches in diameter, coiled 7 times and likely double that since the ends both exit on top. I think its 6 feet.

I'm also admiring the supple nature of this cord. Well done.

The only thign I want confirmed is whether the 'Premium' cables will support VRR on 4K/60 pretty much. I'm getting some recabling done and it's running through walls etc. What cable would you say I'd need with a PS5 and Sony KD65XH900H with a distance of 6m? I really want 4:4:4 and VRR
Depends because there are some variables.

4K 60Hz VRR 4:2:0 8/10/12bits yes.
4k 60Hz VRR 4:2:2 8/10/12bits yes.
4k 60hz VRR 4:4:4 8bits yes.
4k 60Hz VRR 4:4:4 at 10/12bits not.

Cheap or expensive works the same way.
I mean both will pass identical signals.

Expensive cables exists due the durability but that is something a bit extreme like you keep traveling with the cable in bags and so (eg. people that do presentations/speeches)... if your cable stay always in the same place on TV then it has no difference in durability because the cheap one will never fail.

For you yes, for me less headache.
Do you make travels with the cable? I mean you are used to take the cable in bags between travels.

Because that is the only reason I see to have a more durable cable... if it stay always fixed behind your TV you won’t have issues with a cheap one.

This is hilarious. I have no idea why though.
:D

I have issues to explain... when you do speeches/presentation across different client locations you have to take these HDMI cables to plug your Notebook to the TV or projectors if needed to show your slides (you need bit range cables too).

So you have to put these cables on bags... that forces it to positions (not only that it is more open to external actions like stretch or being stepped) that will break it internally with the time making the cable fail... most time it happens near the plug.
So you need a more expensive reforged cable.

But for a cable that will stays years in the same position behind your hack or TV... well it probably wont have ever any issue even if a cheap one.

Of course you can have others situations where you want a more durable expensive cable like my little son pulling all the TV cables when I’m not near him.

Oh, that makes more sense. That I do not know, I didn't get that far into it, TV is pretty much new.

its a lot of wires going into your tv. Unless you only have a game system and use that for all your media. But if you have multiple components they all go into the tv and then one cable goes out to the receiver. Usually it’s the opposite do you can hide and route your cables better. Especially if you wall mount and have a bunch of hdmi cables coming out of your tv

The devices didn’t know which type of cable you are using... the cable is not tied to any HDMI standard... it just have a bandwidth limitation.

It just need to your TV and console be HDMI 2.1 compatible.

that’s what I said originally though,no?
120 FPS alone, without 4K,still Needs 2.1 regardless. It’s technically possible but you need a 2.1 connection both ways so it requires you to just get a 48gbps cable unless all you’re even going to play is 1080p or 1440p up to 120. You’d lose any other features.
