Destruction AllStars Delayed to Feb; Now Launching on PS+

Evangelion Unit-01

Destruction AllStars coming to PlayStation Plus in February
Hi everyone – we wanted to share a quick update on our plans for Destruction AllStars. We’ve decided to move the game’s release from November 2020 to February 2021, where it will be included for two months in PlayStation Plus at no additional cost.

Destruction AllStars is a multiplayer game that’s at its best when you’re competing with gamers online from all around the world. We want as many people as possible to experience the mayhem on PS5, and what better way to do that than to provide the game to our PlayStation Plus members?

Next week, we’ll return with a brand-new trailer and more details on the game, so you’ll know exactly what to expect when you download it in February.

This may be disappointing news for some of you who were looking to play the game at launch, but we hope you understand the decision. For those of you that have already pre-ordered the game, be it via PlayStation Store, PlayStation.com, or at retail, your purchase will be refunded.

Thank you for your continued support, we look forward to seeing you in the arena in February!

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Wow, didn't see that coming. Seems like they had everything buttoned up and even showed it in the UI presentation video.

I suppose more people will pick it up if it's free though. And it's a good sign that we'll eventually be getting PS5 games on PS+.

But but but people told me Sony marketing is great and laughed at other people who said Sony is sending games to die and that they have already showed everything and we are entitled to ask for more.

Funny indeed.

Well, it was obvious from the first game trailer and price and lack of footage. Also last time Sony had (All Stars) in the title that game boomed badly. This way the game has a chance to survive.

Don't want to mix my own thoughts in the OP.

Not really a game I see there being much interest in... A PS+ launch will help it be more successful but I don't see it making much of a splash. At least this way it might stand a chance instead of getting destroyed by the Demon's Souls, Spider-Man, Cyberpunk, COD, and Assassins Creed November/December blitz. At least this way I might actually give it a go.

That's the right call . Now this game has a chance to get big .

I m sure they saw the preorder numbers and it was bad .
Speaking of pre-orders, their announcement makes it sound like the physical copies of this game have been straight up cancelled.

Makes sense, MP focused, full-price game no one knew anything about was going to be sent out to die alongside Demon's Souls & Spiderman as launch titles. For an MP game, it just makes more sense to offer it for free on PS+ at least, to begin with.

Sharing everyone's sentiment. The game seemed fun, I was interested to play but not buy especially full price. This is how you pump the numbers up.

This is actually great news. I was interested when they first showed it but we haven't seen a match yet. They just saved everyone $70 and have more time to polish and give us details on how the game plays.

This is awesome

Probably a good choice, though doing the same at launch would also have been good. It seems fun, but it would have been sent to die at $70.

What do they mean with "it will be included for two months in PlayStation Plus at no additional cost"? That you will have two months to claim it, or that after two months you have to buy it to keep on playing? Is there any clarification?

It was probably getting ignored hard AF.
But this solution they found is really great.
Good job.

Two months it will be free to add to library, beyond that it will be retail as a guess. They are gonna give it a big f2p launch, get good word of mouth and establish the MTX users then hope it blows up. It might go well given that the console will be supply restricted so it's best to think in terms of console shipments. At the moment, it looks to be free for the first two console shipments (there might be another post new year one but it will be tight)
