Here's my setup. Just as much cinema related than gaming (and it is the living room as well). Panasonic 65" calibrated OLED, Dolby Atmos 5.1.2 and a PS4 Pro. Ready for the new consoles next month! 😁

I just realised I haven't posted our London setup in this year's thread. Not a huge amount of updates as we have only been a couple of months there this year, but I will have new pictures of our Finnish pandemic escape shortly.

As always, this is not purely gaming related, rather just a look at the flat in general as some people seem to enjoy that and we don't do separate cribs threads.

Lounge and dining area

The heart of the flat, where we spend most of our time. A Genelec 7.0 system provides sound to the space, with a three Genelec 8351s in the front, and four ceiling-mounted Genelec 8341s at the rear. The TV is Sony 85x9505B, chosen for its low input latency and high quality 4K HDR image, but I will get rid of it this year as the performance in daylight is piss poor compared to Samsung. So I will likely get a Q90 series or similar TB.

The Genelec speakers where chosen because they allow us to hear the video games closest to what the likes of Capcom or Bioware intended. The large amount of reflective glass surfaces was a particular challenge, but Genelec used their software to minimise intrusive artefacts resulting from the hard surfaces in the space.

KIT LIST - Sony 85x9505B TV, Genelec 8351 speakers. A bespoke media unit, with Xbox One X, PS4 Pro, Switch and a Titan X Pascal gaming PC, through a Marantz 8802a AV amp. Hatches for Switch and PlayStation VR. Togo sofas from Ligne Roset.

Snug

This is the most indulgent and fun area in the flat. We designed it as a comfy late night escape, a cave where one can retire to late at night when others go to sleep. A Sony 4K TV on the left is hooked up to a Super NES Classic and a NES Classic, making this the classic gaming space. This space also hosts a headphones listening station.

KIT LIST - Sony KD-49X8305C on a Desalto pole, Genelec AIC25 speakers. A bespoke shelving unit with an integrated minibar. Cambridge Audio streamer (Tidal/Spotify), Schiit Yggdrasil DAC, Schiit Ragnarok amp, and Hifiman HE-1000 headphones. NES Mini, Super NES Mini, PlayStation Classic, Analogue NT Mini, Analogue Super NT.

View from Snug to Lounge

Snug terrace is designed to be our 'cigar terrace'. I smoke one cigar every two months with a good friend, always here with a glass of whisky. Reindeer hides remind us of our native Finland.

Kitchen and breakfast bar

I often sit around the breakfast bar with my iPad, reading GAF, or playing Pokemon Go on my phone. TV and front Genelecs in the lounge can be seen on the left side, however in this picture the speakers are in their old position, they were moved on top of the TV later. The coffee machine is integrated on the right hand wall, and it does fantastic cappuccinos.

Breakfast terrace

This is at the front of the lounge. It's very often windy in the City, so getting to have breakfast here is a rare treat. This place was a great escape during the pandemic, we managed to do a couple of candle lit differs here.

Study

This room is mostly for work, and personal management. A bespoke, motorised desk for standing and sitting work. iMac 5K for any desktop games - such as WoW, Starcraft 2 and Dota 2. Framed above the Mac, production drawings of the first Sega Megadrive from June 1989.

0308-040-1mrikv.jpg

KIT LIST - iMac 5K, Genelec AIC25 speakers.

Guest room

I've spent more time of my life in hotels than one should. Our guest room was modelled based on my favourite features of hotels. The bed is large, and has USB and charging slots on the side. A study desk with a comfy chair provides a space for any urgent work. A power jack is hidden under a hatch, so that laptops and iPads can be charged while working. Light blocking curtains darken the room for a good night's sleep.

KIT LIST - bedside Apple docks and USB-C chargers, Genelec AIC25 speakers.

Wine room

This is the latest addition to the flat. We converted one of the bathrooms into a wine room with temperature and humidity control. It turned out to be a bigger job than I thought, with insulation, vapour barrier, level floor, special doors. It houses 370 bottles so it should do approximately a 5 year rotation. We tend to ship stuff back home from the wineries, much cheaper that way.

you have all that money, nice house, and you go with a Samsung QLED? thought you'd want the absolute best.

or do you have the 77" CX in your bathroom?

I'd show you my setup, but it's just empty beer bottles, dirty dishes and carpet stained with years of cat vomit.
lol. i don't even have a camera to take a photo of my set up.

well i do but it's a 0.1MP camera that takes photos i can't get off the phone because of shit bluetooth + no internet.

Needed a TV which is as bright as possible as the lounge has huge windows and sunshine most of the day... but open to suggestions! The two ToL Sonys I had before were almost unusable here.

What game is that? What speakers are those on top? How many speakers do you have?

Call of Duty Cold War.

Speakers, 3 x Genelec 8050 in the front, 4 x Genelec 8040 in the back. No sub as the fronts deliver as much bass as the apartment building can take

I'd put up shots but other than moving a couple things around and acquiring more useless shit it's identical to last year. When my friend who occupies the basement moves out I'll have the entire house and will be building a nerdery downstairs to house all my man-child crap.

Can you tell me more about that media cabinet?

- 2.4m wide
- Bespoke joinery
- Mitred corners and mitred doors
- Powder coated black aluminum feet
- Machined grille for ventilation in the bottom
- No back wall
- Two machined cable lids near Switch and Xbox, originally for VR
- Left section two doors wide, used to house PS4 and Xbox One S, will now house PS5
- Mid section is AVR, NAD M17
- Mid right section is router and Crestron out
- Right section is Titan X Pascal gaming PC

Oh! Didn't realize it was a bespoke unit. I really like it. Very impressive.

I'm using a cheap stand right now for a temporary setup but have been looking for more a long term solution when I move again next year. It's frustrating because most units were seemingly designed to fill the space beneath TV rather than actually house anything. Seems like built-ins or bespoke is really the only to manage that without making some sort of compromise.

I really like that unit. Fantastic piece.

Here's my setup post new console launch. Not much has changed really other than orientation of the consoles since they're all designed to be upright (besides the Switch).

Really liking how everything is coming, but I still need to buy some of those nanoplate lighting. I want those bad.

My PC setup is a bit of a mess at the moment.
The PS5 is hooked up to my main PC monitor for now because it's my only 4K display. It's a great screen though and is 27", IPS, has HDR, VRR, etc. It doesn't have speakers though so I run a 3.5mm cable from the DualSense controller to the PC speakers.
The PS3 is hooked up to my old 1080p 23" monitor as I don't own a TV yet and hardly play the PS3 anymore. This monitor does have built-in speakers. The PC and both consoles are connected to the internet via ethernet, so I only use wireless for like my phones and laptop.
My next plan is to get a TV (probably either a 48" or 55" CX OLED) and then have it replace the 23" monitor on my entertainment center, then move the PS5 over there as well.

PC specs:
10700K @4.9ghz
Asus Maximus XII Hero
32gb G.Skill RipjawsV 3200Mhz CL14
Evga GTX 1080 Ti SC2 (Still trying to get my hands on an RTX 3090)
Samsung 1TB 960 Pro nvme ssd
Corsair HX1000i power supply
CaseLabs SM8 case
Noctua NH-D14 cpu cooler
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD sound card

I've been putting a lot of thought into my set up and I think I've settled on leaving everything laying around in a disorganized mess of my own filth.

You can remote play the ps5 on PS4. Might be worth hooking it up to a second tv.

Nah, when I go out I try to separate myself totally from gaming, also no games on my phone as well. Would've given it to my nephews, but they already have PS4 Pro and looking for PS5 as well. If I find a friend who would eagerly take it then I'll give it a way. Or sell it for like 60 OMR ($156) for a quick sell as this mofo has served me well since 2016. Base PS4 has been given to a friend in 2016.

I don't care about BC, so it's a feature on PS5 that I really don't care about. Played more than 180+ games on PS4 this gen, mostly AAA, so played all what I needed to play this gen. Hell, I've stopped playing since Ghost of Tsushima.

Wow. You really are the arm chair Sony PR guy. Posting on GAF from a recliner. 10/10

Man, trust me, if you get used to recliners you'll never go back to those office-like chairs. I was considering a massage chair but settled for this for a cheap 44 OMR ($114)! :messenger_winking_tongue:

I went all in on a nice office chair for working from home. That recliner setup is a top tier meme posting station though. SonyGAF command center. I like it.

Just throw it in the trash where it belongs. Or sell it to virgin atlantic incase they need a spare jet engine.

LOL mine is extremely silent, all PS4's here actually. Not sure what assemble we're getting our PS4's, but they seem way more durable and solid to ones reported here.

Ok I know it's dirty, but because I told the maids to never even get close there as I used to find out that the system was open for many hours but didn't notice until I see the lights on. Cleaned it afterwards lol.

lol when you play for up to 51 hours (my record with MGSV grinding the hell out of it, been 1st in the world for 2 weeks while I didn't even know why I had a crown and #1 above my username "paid $50 for second base day one though, so somehow cheating") you can't survive without a very comfy chair!

I'll embrace the meme, lol.

Nah, I'm more ordinary/mid-class than you think. But they are a bit expensive to bring (visa and shit, $2600-3500) but not so much to maintain (100-160 OMR "$260-416 USD"/month). And nearly my whole family is in the house, I got the 3rd floor.

Overall, life here is much cheaper than in the US (been there around 2002-2004 in Virginia with my family, actually finished my high school there).

When I finish my setup it's going to be super minimalist. Living room will be nothing but a TV and a small wall mounted entertainment cabinet.

Office will be a small ITX PC case and not much else other than the requisite keyboard and mouse.

My goal is to have the most boring setup ever lol
