I just picked up a used edition of PSVR with two move controllers and Doom.

I have a few questions for GAF PSVR owners.

1. What should I expect in terms of initial setup and experience?

2. Those who experienced motion sickness, did it ever go away?

3. GAMES! What are the must-haves for VR? I’m looking for that party casual atmosphere first. (I’m already convinced to get Astroboy and Beat Sabre).

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
1. Setup is pretty straight forward, all their cables are labeled and numbered which really helped.
2. I get motion sickness from VR really bad. A lot of people will say "just stick with it" but for me it never went away even after playing a few hours every day for a week. Your individual results may vary.
3. Some of my favorite VR games (and the ones I get sick with less) are actually games where you're looking down into a 3D space rather than first person. Stuff like Astrobot and Moss fit this bill perfectly.

Gonna keep this light, but motion sickness is just not something that happens for me in VR. Also, just know that Doom VFR's Move controls are atrocious. There's a ton of great Move content on VR, but Doom just isn't it.

Pay close attention to proper camera setup. Make sure their isn't mirrors or glass covered pics behind you.

Beat Saber is great. Get on the PSN store and download the 3 demo disks.

Have fun

Everybody's Golf, Wipeout, Polybius, Beat Saber, Dirt, Superhot are all pretty great. More party oriented stuff would be like maybe Diner Duo, Fruit Ninja, Carnival Games, Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes.

Is it the full Doom game?

What are the 3 demo disks? Are they just 3 songs or is it quite a bit of content?

The more you play, the quicker you get your VR feet under you.

Get Batman Arkham VR, WipeOut, Firewall, lots others that are pretty cheap and fun experiences.

Unrelated to Beat Saber. They are game demos.

I have about every PSVR game. You need to check out: Moss, AstroBot, Blood & Truth along with my personal favorite: Firewall.

Firewall is the best multiplayer VR experience.

Is there any way to go back and download all those ps plus vr games I missed these past 2 years of having plus?

Get Creed Rise to Glory, Moss, Wipeout Omega Collection.

I hope you're not big-headed (like I am), I gotta pull the strap to release the pressure for about 20 seconds and let go every 5 or 10 minutes, or else I risk getting a big headache that lingers on.

Congrats dude, PSVR is AWESOME. I am envious that you get to experience VR for the first time XD

I got a massive noggin unfortunately. Headsets are murder to me so I’m used to it.

Snagged a PSVR bundle off ebay for $200 yesterday. Couldn't pass it up. Stoked to finally play RE7 in VR.

I wasn't really sure what else was available, completely forgot about Skyrim VR, definitely gonna try that out.

How is that Moss game, the one with the mouse?

Anyone got any recommendations for quality single player story driven experiences? I'm not really interested in the rhythm games but I'll get at least one cause my wife wants to try those.

Moss is great and so is Astrobot Rescue Mission.

There are lots of great titles on PSVR. I recommend checking out this video to get some ideas:

Atrobot: Rescue Mission
Moss
Box VR (fitness game similar to Beat Sabor)
Until Dawn: Rush of Blood
Playroom VR
Resident Evil 7
Fruit Ninja

I believe a decent number of titles are on sale o the U.S. store until the 19th, so some games may be worth grabbing and trying out .

There is one game i want to try but havent gotten yet. cant even think of the name at the moment, but it consist of primarily red polygon characters... i remember it having good reviews and i think its on PCVR as well.

PSVR arrived today, much sooner than I expected.

The kit is kinda grimey, definitely gonna be sanitizing this thing before I put it on my face. Earbuds have wax in them, lol. So gross.

Does anyone know if you can just plug a single aux cord into the headset for over the ear headphones? The stock ear buds plug into each side, never seen anything like that.

Haven't had time to set it up but I'll definitely post some thoughts after I get it up and running.

1. Be patient when connecting the cables.

2. I never felt sick... So in my case im fine.

3. Until dawn... Rush of blood. Resident evil 7, Astrobot, 90% from Japan Studio games, last labyrinth, ace combat 7.

Worst experience of vr.... Persona 3 dancing and persona 5 dancing.

Any headphones with a standard 3.5mm jack will work

Another bad experience is Tekken 7. The Vr mode is crap.

Is better experience games like Doom 3 or at least Star wars Squadrons.

Cool, my new head phones have a standard end for devices but the end that plugs into the headphone itself is one of those mini aux cables. I'm assuming it will work, hopefully.

Sounds like it should, but thats a little odd to have the 2.5mmm into the headphones, at least from my experience. Either way enjoy. Ive recently got back to using my PSVR and cant wait to see the improvements in PSVR2.

Well, no dice so far in getting the camera to adjust correctly, I think the room is too bright but I can't really do anything about it. Took it to the basement and still not having any luck.

I will say, cable city. Setting it up to the PS4/TV was easy enough but I can't get it to work at the moment. lol.

I dont think too bright should be an issue unless the light source is directly in view of the camera. Did you get a used set? Try cleaning the camera lense if you havent.

Yea, the light is directly in front of the camera for the most part, windows on each side and it's a clear day with lots of snow on the ground so it's just bright as can be in the house.

I'll give it a go when the sun goes down, really hope it isn't broken. Ebay seller says no refunds but I'm relying on the benefit of the doubt that they wouldn't sell something that straight up doesn't work.

I think an important thing is to have some cool air on you if you are going to be playing a while and its not an active game like Beat Saber or Box VR. You will sweat with those and all the moving around, you shouldnt feel motion sickness much.

But something like Wipeout, elder scrolls, iron man...any game that you are mostly stationary I found some cool air in my face from time to time helps.

I can honestly recommend most VR games, but i personally find ones like batman vr a waste of money.

Yes, its a nice experience, but is its literally 10 to 15 minutes with zero reason to go back to it.

I personally look for full games/experiences. Blood and Truth, BoxVR, Elder Scrolls, Driveclub VR, borderlands, firewall, beat saber....its a long list.

I would also suggest getting the aim gun controller, its much nicer for shooters.

regarding motion sickness, go slowly when playing the games if you start to feel dizzy STOP. Do not push through take a break as if you try to force yourself you will make it a lot worse you need to slowly build up your vr legs if you find yourself getting dizzy/sick. Putting a fan on you blowing helps a lot as it's tactile feedback to let your body you are sort of moving, your brain needs to adjust to the scenario of your eyes tellg it that you are moving but all the other body sensors say otherwise that's what causes the dizzyness & sickness. Also start with sitting down games before you risk stuff standing up.

Some people have no problems, others need to build up. I had a bit of dizzyness but after a few weeks of playing i can pretty much tolerate anything in vr even flying like a maniac in no mans sky or wipeout omega collection.

Edit: Ravage beat me to it regarding the fan thing but it does work.

lol, Ace Combat was something I was planning on jumping into first so maybe I'll ease myself into that.

No don't do that.

Superhot is my recommendation for a first VR game. It's stationary and absolutely amazing in VR.

Astrobot is a good first one as well. It's one of the best VR games imo.

I did play that on my nephews Quest 2 the other month. It was pretty fun, my first ever VR experience. It was incredibly surreal reaching out and grabbing a gun flying through the air and stuff like that. I was pretty blown away at the accuracy of it all.

Make sure to put the back strap thing behind the notch in your head, you put it further down than you'd expect. Then move the head piece up and down some until the image is clear.

Job Simulator and Vacation Simulator are great, but not really sims, they're just a series of pre-fixed totally-guided tasks. Still very well done.

I'd say Fracked is my favorite on PSVR.

Alright, got it to work, had to go out and buy a new camera though, the one that it came with was working but it also wasn't. I couldn't get past the 'Adjust Camera' prompt. I could see myself on the TV but it just kept giving me a message that 'the camera can't be adjusted'.

PSVR is pretty cool, the overall visual fidelity is lacking but it's old tech now so I can't really judge it too harshly.

RE7 is pretty cool. Ace Combat seemed neat but I couldn't quite figure out the controls so I exited after a few minutes, just kept doing barrel rolls and loops. Playroom is fun and free. I'm downloading Astrobot: Rescue Mission, on sale for $10. I'm really stoked for Skyrim with dual move controllers, that should be a damn fun time.

Unfortunately the previous owner was a smoker so the headset smells like smoke. Didn't really experience too much motion sickness, I turned off all the 'comfort' options in RE7 and handled it fine. My head does feel a little weird but nothing that made me ill.

Pretty happy with it overall. Thanks for all the recommendations, much appreciated!!

Had to come back and comment on Astrobot: Rescue Mission.

Holy shit, this game is amazing so far. Not only did it pull at my heart strings seeing all your buddies get launched into space but the gameplay is so much fun! Not only is it a rescue mission, I'm out for revenge.

I was wondering where Japan Studio had been, didn't realize they were doing VR stuff. Such a shame that they're no longer around. edit- Team Asobi is still around, that's good to know. They are definitely on my radar now.

I remember you saying in another thread you were wondering if you would ever get close to that Mario 64 moment again.

Well?

I did think of that last night.

It's definitely up there with Mario 64 and the few other times I've felt that feeling. I just kept saying "oh wow" over and over. Before playing Astrobot, I couldn't quite grasp how VR would benefit a platformer game but now I definitely do. I don't want to say it's a total game changer but it really is in a way. Excited for this weekend, gonna be doing some serious gaming, lol.

In other news, Skyrim VR is on sale for $20 right now. Perfect timing.
