Elon Musk's personal wealth grew by $15 billion on Monday after Tesla got a spot in the S&P 500 index. He is on track to become the world's third-richest person, overtaking Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

There are two things my mind can't comprehend.

The size and origins of the universe and people waking up one day to see they just earned 15 billion dollars.

I can't process that shit. I just know the words.

The only rich person who is actually doing something great with his wealth.
I am fine with it.

Bill Gates would be at the top of the List if not for all his philanthropy.

As for Elon Musk, once Starlink gets distributed worldwide he will quickly become the richest person alive as it will connect the remaining 4 Billions people without internet.

Musk is an extremely smart (con)man. I'll never be 10% of what he is. However, this is a stock that surged purely on extreme over-hype. Tesla's revenue is dwarfed by so many companies. They aren't making profit. They have nothing that any significant portion of society is beating down their doors to buy. All they sell is hype for the future. Which, that is what investing is about. Musk has done what so many aspire to do. It doesn't make it any less over-hyped though.

And yes, I'm jealous I didn't invest.

He's that rich, but I still have yet to see one of his cars in person, LOL. I've seen McLarens, Bugattis, Lambos, Ferraris, Aston Martins, you name it- and I'm not even a car person. Still haven't seen a Tesla. They're like unicorns to me.

You’re hoping the guy will change the world, and the oil, nasa industry is like nah breh

He is even more cancel-proof that JK Rowling. I forgot why those guys hate him though.
That's something that really didn't understand when I was still hanging out on ERA.

On one side they want those electric cars and REE about Thunberg and the planet overheating, on the other side they hate the only man making real progress on electric cars with his own fucking money, putting it where his mouth is.

Where do you live?
Teslas are pretty common in places like California and New York. Maybe not so much in Florida. I saw more Lambos and Bentleys in 3 days in Miami than 3 years in Nww York.

He's smart to invest in Space technology.

That's my only reason to justify extreme wealth. Actually use it to get man off this floating space rock instead of just watching it rot in the bank account long after you die.

3rd richest person without ever having turned a reliable profit shows how much of a bubble Tesla equity is.

cool stuff.

kinda weird that three of the richest people are all tech bros from Cali. you have Amazon Bezos, who has been far more successful at destroying brick & mortar competition than the robber barons ever dreamed of.

then you have Bill Gates, another West Coaster, a corporate hippie who got his start serving the world's first DMCA to his friends in the Homebrew Computer Club.

next to these guys, and Mark Suckerberg and the assholes at Twitter and social media, Musk is a breath of fresh air. he is successful at multiple things, not just his cars, which after the Prius have helped popularize the electric vehicle to an immense degree. this is good for the planet, no? i don't see why leftists hate him but of course they hate everyone irrationally, him actually helping their cause doesn't change the fact.

besides doing Tesla he does SpaceX as well, which itself alone would be worthy of massive praise. the space industry began as a wartime industry, with elite Ivy league institutions working in coordination with the US gov't (and employing Nazi war criminals, don't forget about that) in order to race the Russians to the moon. SpaceX is a sign of us growing beyond that Cold War mentality. a bright, shining beacon of hope for the future. if the world had more well-meaning, risk-taking, occasionally foolish entrepeneurs like him, who were actually CREATING THINGS instead of trying to manipulate people and information, the world would be in a much brighter place.

it already is, with Elon Musk in it.
