AC: Valhalla |OT| From Nordic runes to English ruins

Watching Vikings next to playing AC Valhalla really shows you how almost EVERY location in that show has been recreated in AC Valhalla lmao

They really tried to get that Vikings vibe but failed at execution. The game is nice and looks stunning but Ubisoft, this isnt Vikings

It's almost as if they are both loosely based on the same historical material?

I don't think they were going for the Vikings show vibe necessarily. Valhalla is definitely more grounded as weird as that sounds.

in reality you rly dont wanna know how real vikings where because it was hard and brutal and boring too. we dont want that in games or tv series, but dont think that what we see here is what was real because it is not. its just made for us . and i love it .

I just got to the first story raid you do and holy shit the fire looks like total ass, especially compared to how great everything else around it looks.

But there is problem when you overexplore everything clearing castles alone where later your main mission going to be and like hey i was there. So now i kinda not explore everything at least trying to not go into places where lots soldiers as later i might have there main mission . Power 132 now i can go for 160 power beast.

dont bother exploring the area until u did the main quest. u can actually fuck up quests otherwise and lots of chests are locked behind doors that only open with the main quest.

also jorvik is so far my favorite looking city so far, still got another to go it seems like maybe even more who knows :p

Wait quests can be broken?

Yes i fucked up 2 quests because of doing things before i was supposed to do them and objects got placed on other objects as they spawned after the main quest which basically perm locks the object in place and the quest is not completable.
Another one is in a endless broken cutscene loop because a object is missing that i wrecked before the quest was available because i didn't do the main quest in that area.

What i do now is whenever i push myself to a new area. is get the teleport towers first in order to make movement easier, then do the main quest in that region and then do the everything else after that to avoid problems. Also content is locked behind doors that u cant open without doing the main quest in that area. the biggest offender where all of this count is lunden that i encountered so far be careful with that place do the main quest before anything else.

...Wow. Ubisoft needs to patch that ASAP.

I didint have problem with main quests going into places that i looted before. All was working but i can see how you can fck it up because you take item allready that was needed in main quest. But you cant know where your main missions will be like after that and later so how to know. Anyway raid places wont be main mission places and just random old castles with couple guards wont be main mission targets too so those not imoortant places can be explored when you want i think.
and i think devs did pretty good job to just lock houses that will have main mission later. all my houses that i explored that will have mission later where just locked with no way to get inside.

Just got my PS5 and installed Assassins Creed Valhalla (PS4 disc)
But when I go to the game hun to “upgrade” to the ps5 version it’s asking me to pay for the game!!

Is this a glitch and anyway to fix it??? 😭😭😭😭

Edit - I’ve got the PS4 disc in ps5 and nothing on game hub other than buy.
the free upgrade is on disc version as well I presume?? 😖

That thing seems bugged for that game, contact Ubi support.

As much as I'm enjoying this game just not as much as i do origins.

Less loot is cool but it feels like there less exploring that comes with less loot.

Plenty loot just not much weapons in loot , but its kinda enough as you upgrade them and it needs lots recources so too much weapons armor would not be good.
Just got dual wield heavy weapons. Thats amazing now we smashing trough everything its just looks so badass 2 long swords or long sword and heavy axe

Started playing this. So far:

Pros:
  • Storytelling seems to be a little better
  • Action Scenes are nicely directed
  • Music is really nice
Neutral:
  • The voice acting could be better though, and the dialogue could be improved as well.
  • Graphics are okay, though I felt Odyssey and Origins looked better?
  • The combat seems okay so far (not many options yet), but lets see how it changes in the future.
Cons:
  • Exploration and finding loot is more annoying as some buildings are locked with no way to access them (until perhaps the right quest opens them?)

Anyway, the opening was nice, especially the fight scenes. Let's see how it progresses.

So should I just proceed with the main story for now? Will I know when it's safe to explore fully?
Well i do that too explore everything around and didint had any problems later with quests there. But i guess its not as fun later when your main mission goes into castle that you looted allready alone. I still do it.

Just went to play it and for some reason quick resume wasn't working. I went to load game and no autosaves had worked since launch day. Luckily I had only spent 4 or 5 hours playing it since then. But has this happened to anyone else?

No but when resuming from quick resume a few times, all my saves were corrupt. Deleted them all and made a new save and it was showing as corrupt, nothing would load. (Auto saves eg...) So took the plunge and exit the game (to the dash) and loaded it back up and to my surprise the corrupt saves were now showing as fine 🤷‍♂️

So luckily never lost 16h of progress.

But either this game is bugged to hell or quick resume is having issues in more games. (I know some are disableddue to issues)

im just finished east anglia now went to Lunden aka London. and played over 50 hrs allready. still lots to do
for now just found 2 large swords , both bought from my merchant but she had just 2 and no more yet. one spear and one large axe there. now new possibilitys to combine like sword with axe or sword with spear maybe, this will be fun , new experiences awaits. just went over 160 in power so its something .

As someone who has beaten every AC but Origins and Odyssey, is it worth beating those two to come back and play this? I was pretty burned out by Unity/Syndicate so I couldn't bring myself to finish Origins/Odyssey.

Nah, you'll get burnt out on the series halfway through Odyssey. This is far better game than any of those two in my opinion.

I'd only go for Origins if you really like Ancient Egypt over Vikings, otherwise just jump straight into Valhalla.

Gotta say, I've put probably close to 25 hours into the game so far...And I really like it. I like it a lot more than Odyssey and slightly above Origins too. I do wish they would just stop pretending these are AC games and just let them be their own thing, but as it is, it's really fun. It's gorgeous to look at too, with a couple of lowered settings I have it running around the 70fps range with the 1080ti at 3440x1440 g-sync.

I really enjoy the raiding and the combat. It took me a minute to adjust to it, but I feel like an absolute bad ass rolling around with my crew dual wielding the Blacksmiths hammer and an Axe. Very fun. Love slowly walking into camps and just grabbing the arrows/rocks out of the air and shooting them back at the guards while parrying the few guards that are circling me.

So since the screen I will play this game on supports VRR, am I right for thinking I should get this game on XSX instead of PS5?

The quest with Randvi was nice. Almost as good as something from Witcher. This is the best AC in many years.
Although I will have to reload and postpone that quest until much later, apparently. She is married to Sigurd so I told her we can't be together, but now I read up that she actually leaves him later in the story. And btw this little quest is one of five choices that influence ending.

Mate, you're a viking raiding. You get an offer like that you gotta hit it and hard. And repeatedly. And then replay the mission and do it all again

Hah. Nah Sigurd is a bro, at least for now.

Anyway, really enjoy this setting lot more than Egypt or Greece. Medieval Europe is my jam.

i just love explore places, specially same ones in diff times specially those that i was in visited , so london we had it in AC Syndicate in old times, then Legion future times and now Valhalla in very old times... its amazing for me that some building there are same as now they stayed for all those years... just imagine , i love that . still Paris in AC Unity is one of my favorite places i think.
that axe finishing to another after hidden kill is just amazing to watch , slow mo axe kicks head and sends poor dudes flying
