PlayStation 5 [OT] Taking Over The World One SSD At A Time

Quick question for those with a PS5.

On PS4 i have 3 accounts , a portuguese one (main account where i´ve got PS+ and everything) , an american one and a brazilian one.

I usually buy games on either the american one or the brazilian one (lately more on the brazilian one because of how low the prices are) , then i can the game i buy there on my portuguese one.

Can i keep doing this on PS5 , have anyone actually try this? thinking of buying control ultimate edition and MK11 on the brazilian account because the price is to good to let it go (specially since both games have free update on PS5)

Anyone??

I was hoping PS5 owners would be able to help me out with some questions about regionality.
  1. If my PSN profile is set for the US store, can I still use it to purchase games and PS+ subs from an Asian (or other region) store?
  2. If my PSN profile is set for the US, does that force online games to connect to US servers, even if I'm located in a different region?
  3. Are there any price differences between the US store, and other regions, for example: the Singapore store?
  4. Are there any recommended best practices for expats who live abroad, but prefer to use their home currencies and cards for purchases?
Any info would be helpful. With my PS4, I'd already purchased all my games from the US store, and I'd already stopped playing Destiny by the time I made the move. Starting a new generation, I expect I'll want to play games like Destruction Allstars online, and I just want to make sure that I can do so without issue. I wouldn't want to be forced into US servers while having an 11-12 hour time difference. I'd also prefer to continue buying games from the US story, as it ensures fewer issues with my credit card.

I'm using a new PSN profile, as I lost the password for my PS4 profile. I can't recover it, as the Comcast email address it was tied to was deleted some years ago. So I'm hoping to figure out a proper strategy for gaming abroad, before I get my PS5. I'll be getting an Asian model, and I'm not sure if I should be keeping my purchases regional. I have a Thai credit card, but prefer the US store for the selection and availability schedule.

EDIT: I see multiple people have asked similar questions to mine. Looks like I should be fine. This thread has been useful.

The copy of games from disc is still slow, after spidey, now tsushima with almost 20 min and 17 min to download the patch (but to be fair i don't know how big the patch is), wifi seems sensibly slower than wired for download speed (duh).
Also i had to manually search a patch for tsushima, after the copy of the files the ps5 was like "ready to go", am i missing something?

Got my DE. Beautiful console, whisper quiet. Fits my setup perfectly.

The Dual Sense is a marvel, Sony hit a home run with this one. What a surprise gift it is, how great it is to know that this is a standard now.

The UI is sleek, but missing some needed features like folders. But it is smooth and snappy. The activities cards is great, using them in Miles Morales is a godsend for people like me who usually shy away from side activities, now I can just travel to them in an instant.

What a start to the generation.

I don't even know how the cards work. If someone can give me a rundown I'd be grateful lol.

Playing through Miles Morales and it's visually a stunner. Combined with the new DualSense's haptic/adaptive feel adds a new level of immersion. The silence of the PS5 is something I can't get over. Late night gaming without the console sounding like it's going to explode is a huge bonus.

From the dashboard just dpad down on a selected game, you see the activities. For example in mine it says main mission, Fnsm app activity, then challenges like Combat Challenge, Stealth challenge etc and all you need is to select one and press square. You’ll be right there in the game. It’s quite incredible honestly, and a lot of people are sleeping on this simply because it’s rather unusual for videogames.

I plan to play on my 4k monitor (lg 27uk650) at my desk as I did with 360, ps4 and every console. I always play at my desk.
Think I will try 4k mode in DS... I am a sucker for sharp graphics
That is if I manage to get ps5 this year since my order was cancelled :(

I think both modes look great but 4k mode got the edge

That sounds insane. Dream scenario for completionists and trophy hunters. I don't think many have got to grips with that feature or are even aware it exists. Most are using the UI like the PS4. I mean, I've seen the cards and the extra content but haven't explored it fully.

Thanks for the info!

I got a PS+ Black Friday deal for a year because why not.

That's the best bang for the buck; unfortunately for me, my PS+ was going to expire three weeks ago, so I had yo buy it back then. But this is best value, one year, and you're set.

Good deal on that 12 month PS Plus. Was just about to renew because of Demon's Souls (after a couple of years absence) and now this offer shows up. Right on cue.

Ask me about my wife's perfect butthole
Can someone help me out here?

I installed my external hardrive last night and it's already having issues..

I bet rebuilding the database will help:

Make sure your PS5 system software is up to date
Turn your console all the way off (not just Rest Mode)
Boot the console in Safe Mode. Press and hold the Power Button for seven seconds (release when you hear the second beep)
Connect a DualSense controller to the PS5 with a USB cable
Select the option to “Rebuild Database”

i wil have to do this everytime a i delete a game from my external hardrive?
The file system seems buggy for now; it's likely to get fixed.. but when you see an issue where your system seems to think files are there that aren't, or visa versa, that's what rebuilding the DB helps with.

This didn't work for me. Spider-Man (that i downloaded off of my games share friend) still appears on my home screen

I’ve played my PS5 more in the last week than I did my Pro over the last few months combined. It’s on all day, cleaning up Plats on old games, swinging around in Miles, etc.

I haven’t had a system crash. I’ve had one game crash (MW2 campaign remastered) and that’s it. External SSD and rest mode seem to be working perfectly for me since the update a few days ago.

Really loving it so far.

Any chance you could give No Man's Sky a go on PS5?

Had my first system crash today. Happened on the home screen when I wanted to go from games to settings with R1. Console froze and restarted.

I also have constant issues with the DualSense when I play Ghost of Tsushima. The vibration/haptic feedback kinda turns into some slightly rattling vibration. Feels completely off and broken as if the "rumble motor" has come loose.
Changing haptic feedback strength from strong to anything else or turning the controller off and on again fixes this but then it comes back after 20-30 minutes.

I don't have that with Astro or Spider-Man Remastered, only Tsushima.

I have one complaint about the Pulse 3D headset. I have no idea why they went with circular cups.

There doesn't seem to be any way to position them where they aren't pressing on some corner of your ear a little bit. If you do some heavy sessions, it can get quite uncomfortable. And this problem would completely go away if they had just gone with ovals instead of circles, like every other headset does (including their own).

I use the same monitor and ps5 looks great on it

Am I missing something here or are the user ratings for all games missing on the PS5 store?

While I know it's not the best way to judge a game quality, it was handy to shortlist a few titles to investigate further to possibly purchase one.

Ps5 patch copying.... is back :(

Second patch for Demon's Souls released today, 300MB and after downloading it does "copying" for about 3 minutes, then Installs (the install is instant).
I thought we got rid of this...

Damn Im wondering if I should change my preorder of cyberpunk from xbox to ps seeing how ps5 has been getting better faceoff results?

Did you see the Cyberpunk gameplay for XSX/S? It will be the same on PS5, until they patch it for next gen, sometime next year. Until then, we won't know exactly which console it runs better on. Generally speaking, PS5 fares a little better than XSX now, but specifically for Cyberpunk, we have no idea yet.

Oh man... not this again, Sony... On PS4 this is so, so bad, as you all know. Downloading a 32GB patch last night for GTA V in 15 minutes, then it took 45 minutes to copy it.

First bug here: my son was about to close a game, then the controller just stopped responding although was still on. Tried to use the other controller, it would turn on but didn't respond as well. Then tried to turn the console off using the power button, the screen went black and it didn't even started to blink the led. Had to pull the power cord to do it, and after that, everything was fine again. Phew!!

Why does PS5 still have slow copying for updates. I thought Cerny said SSD would make this unnecessary.

Copying 200mb Demon's Souls update took 5 mins.
