RedGamingTech: "Why Series X is having performance problems."

So basically:
-Dev kits for XS arrived later than PS5 Dev kits
-Early version of the kits had some issues
-PS5 dev kit is much more similar to the PS4 than the XS to the One

And Geometry Engine provides PS3-like depth but isn't required as it can do much on its own.

Yeah.....that sounds really good but I have no clue what it actually means.

Cerny personally wank on every ps5 that get produced, liquid metal they say...

Those people are making the same mistake when people believed in the 12 > 10 campaign. They are still 100% behind that "most powerful console" marketing campaign from MS. Basically they are still in denial.
The denial is real.

Haha, so now RGT is not talking about secret sauces and caches, he becomes non-reliable and empty vessal! :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_ok:

like every core gamers know, GDK/XDK is far behind. Sony SDK was built to get PS5 games up in a month, half the time of PS1 and PS4!
Literally nobody here has said he wasnt reliable now. They're just confused because he hasn't presented anything we didn't already suspect. Nice try deflecting tho

Serious question. SeriesX BC is software emulation _ isn't it working wonders and far ahead of Sonys implementation?
And what about Velocity architecture that is getting the games loading as fast as on PS5, when on paper the theoretical difference is double the speed? They are software tools, they working as advertised and even better, they are up to date...

"Just being honest, I felt good after seeing their show. I think the hardware advantages that we’ve built are gonna show up when we’re gonna talk more about our games and framerates and other things. I thought the games line-up we’re gonna have at launch I’ve felt really good about. And we got more clarity on what they’re doing, obviously at their show. Which has just helped us focus on showing what we have. So, I think they’ve done a good job. They do what they do very well. And they did that. But when I think about the position we’re in with the games we’re gonna show with the hardware advantage that we have I think we’re in a very good position. So, I feel good about July. "
Exactly.

MS, Phil is talking the talk, but not backing it up.

And ppl were concerned that Sony were too quiet....lol.

Leading by example is also a good strategy.

MS, Phil actually had Next Gen Frame Rates in their marketing.

Ask me about my wife's perfect butthole
We really just have no clue what direction the performance will go.

That includes anyone trying really hard to say the GDK is perfectly mature and won't change and people saying it's early and will improve.

There is no will/won't... both systems will likely see improvements over time with games getting better looking and/or performing as is the normal console cycle. Whether XSX will improve more or PS5 will is totally unknown.

What we do know is the PS5 is performing great with launch titles; XSX isn't quite matching up right now. We have people claiming devs are in fact finding it easier on PS5, we've heard that rumor for like a year now... so it does appear there are devs with this opinion. None of it really matters, as even if it comes from a developer it's all only theoretical how things will change over time.

We also know Sony are wizards at producing crazy shit.. and everyone in the industry has been raving about their tooling since the PS4 / post-PS3 era... so even if MS has room for improvement... good luck lol

once again a reminder that this forum is full of hypocrites... I often repeat it but it gets worse and worse

The entire start to the generation on both sides is nothing but FUD being tossed around. Ruins the fun of a new generation when everyone is so focused on what the "other" does wrong.

I enjoy going back and forth and talking a little trash but the start to this generation has a different feel and nothing about it has been positive, mostly due to miserable gamers who refuse to enjoy their hobby and instead turn into little soldiers for their favorite brand. Shit is stupid and tiresome.

Yep. I chalk it up to how immature and echo-chambered the average person is becoming. It’s especially obvious when these console warriors step into other parts of Gaf, and bring the same obnoxious behaviors with them.

RDNA3 and Zen 3 remember? "Tick tock" lol

Guy is just trying to get his subs up. He's as clueless as the spec thread engineers

Not really. I mean those who watch comparison videos are relatively minor group. In fact the general public don't have access to consoles basically till the next year.
It starts at these type videos and spreads to other youtube channels that are more mainstream. As you said, most people do not have access to the new consoles yet. It will be those people buying consoles when these messages are more mainstream. Anyone that bought an XB based on the "power" narrative should be unhappy. Those of us that bought it on the Game Pass/BC narrative should still be fine with the purchase.

He mentioned it but not really on point with the question the video tries to answer, seeing as this isn't used right now.
This kind of optimization depth only really shows up later in the generation and will serve mostly to help the console not fall too behind the latest tech.

So this means you accept that PS5 has some more advanced features in their console too, right? :messenger_grinning_sweat: (y)

You shouldn't stop there. He did in fact say that Sony's would continue to improve too and you're actually expecting up to a 30% performance increase over the PS5.

I read through both pages, who is bashing him on this? Seems a couple of you are trying to add noise where there isn’t any.

People are cracking their “tools jokes” which have nothing to do with it being a RGT thread or not.

I've said it before here and received a load of lols, Microsoft changed to a new SDK, or GDK, the new ones allows development of a game across all three consoles and the PC, all with the same code pretty much. The advantages here are obvious. Sony went with the same development tools they used last gen, albeit with some additions. The advantage here is obvious as pointed by Cerny in that speech he gave where he seemed like he was high. Sony's SDK is a lot maturer and their devkit kits were also in developers hands a lot sooner from what I've heard.

Essentially I think we'll see the more powerful Series X pull ahead, maybe even within a few months, these are extraordinary times mind you, so it may take longer. If 3rd parties still run worse on the Series X in a year or two, then we can talk!

Thinks mods influence posters politics. Promoted to QAnon Editor.
  • Tools (largest SW company and inventor of Direct X)
  • Memory bottleneck due to two bandwidths
  • CPU overhead OS/Hypervisors/etc.
  • Design was to be scale-able, not optimal: slow and wide
  • "Full RDNA 2" means not designed for a console, but for DirectX scaling across platforms
  • No Cerney sauce
  • No equivalent in Ice team

Wait....what? You are giving Microsoft a pass for a "year or two"?

Didn't watch the video, but presuming this is about the shift from the XDK to the GDK (general development kit), which is somewhat less baked right now than Sony's, and is less Xbox specific. Will undoubtedly improve with time, but it was coming in hot with launch timing.

Says someone from Ubi told him the tools weren’t as advanced as Sony’s, or am I misunderstanding him?

You can’t be serious. MS has ALWAYS been a software company first. I’m positive the SDK will get way better over time. Sony was always known as a hardware company (TV’s, Walkman’s, and audio equipment. Yet MS is eating their lunch there. The One X was Better than the Pro. And the Series X has 2 more TF’s to play with in the end.
