The discussion on ps5 recently makes me believe that Sony fans are not happy with PS5 GPU but they are not honest about.

Xbox series x: microsoft decided to go as the strongest console from next generation. They still couldn't show significant software to demonstrate it's power. Still, you can't deny that on paper it has strength to argue.

PS5: while it's GPU spec is lesser than xbox series X, it still has big punch. However, Sony decided to have significant advantage on their io and SSD.

Prior to nvidia show, there were many comments by gamers who preferred PS5 over XSX that the difference is insignificant and that the higher TF of XSX won't show on games. They also argued that advantages of SSD and io will blow XSX (and pc, mind you) out of the water.

Yet, there were many comments even by hardcore Sony fans that they are waiting for the PS5 "pro" to release with increased GPU performance. Adding to the current meltdown and increased posts that compares the new nvidia cards with PS5, it is very clear to me that from start ps5 fans are not satisfied with the GPU performance and can't wait for Sony to upgrade their spec.

On the other hand , xbox fans have accepted the disadvantage they have o. The ssd part and their biggest complaint is on the exclusive software part (where Sony is hitting it out of the park).
Why ps5 fan shouldn't have accepted the ps5 GPU if offers the same graphic perfomance on multiplat and sometime even better? Because it's not 12 TF on the paper? The hell is that stupidity ?

I would add it also stupid of both sides to claim one is better than the other with cross gen buggy games

saying it offers better or same performance based on these games so far. it may prove the ps5 could be miles better but we have to wait and see
I'm not basing on that. There is a 18% of difference on power . The hell should change in the future? You will see exactly the same gap on the future multiplat you see in the first titles just with better graphic and more polished performance

I hate to quote this...But there is really "no need to be upset" when it comes to hardware this new consoles have.

Exactly, as long as the devs don't mess up and focus on delivering 4K30 or 1440p60 modes, which are easily achievable this time around, everyone will be happy. Well maybe except the fanboys, they're never happy ;p

Are you telling me you didnt see that figure proclaimed by some on here and other websites?

I think reconstruction is gonna be the king this new gen. Xbox even has some dedicated hardware for ML, it is faaar from what is in RTX cards but it is there.
Some good ML is sure be some saving grace for SS.

At this point, I'm not worried about a PS5 Pro, just a PS5 available.

While entertaining to read about, I actually don't care about the power differences between the consoles, or if one runs a game a few fps faster or slower, just that when I finally do get a PS5, it won't be a defective one.

You mean some software that do ML out of the standard CUs?

I think dynamic 4K will be the norm, it is the simplest method to implement, the devs don't have to through all the testing to figure out which non-native res is the one that allows for sustained performance, whether it's 1800p, 1620p, 1440p, something in between, this way if a game runs in 4K 100% of time then awesome, if it doesn't, no biggie, the engine will scale the res on the fly. The only issue I have with dynamic scaling tho, is that it's quite common games to actually still drop the framerate as well, unfortunately, most of the time the scaling it's not aggressive enough, so you lose 4K while not preventing framedrops at all.

I'm a little disappointed with it. But I'm waiting for a redesign of the console anyway; a Pro version that justifies the footprint of this machine. Or the slim model if there is no Pro.

I was expecting to be disappointed -- not because of the differences, which I expected to be minor, but because it meant years of listening to Xbox fans go "nee-ner, nee-ner, our version looks better than your version." However, I'm pleasantly surprised that it isn't turning out that way, at least not yet.

I agree. After months and months of Xboxers rubbing 12 TF on everyone’s faces and screaming everywhere about how powerful the xbox was and only finding out games play better on PS5 at best or the same at worst has been one of the highlights of this shitty year

Agree.

Since I can remember, and especially last gen (PS4, XBO), ppl have used early cross gen games as a measurement for the rest of the generation.

Unless this is gonna be a PS3 vs 360 situation, where PS3 exclusives shined the best. I doubt it, but we'll see.

All I see, is "its the closest 2 consoles have ever been"

What do some ppl expect to be different? It will still be close once Series X gets its wings, I mean tools.

I mean..... have you seen the argument back and forth on COD thread because people did not accept that PS5 performed "worse" on RT mode? that is more than 1k comment of shitty arguments and weird blend of "I am really pleased with the performance but DONT YOU DARE SAY THE PS5 IS WORSE!!".

It is good thing that this will probably in a month or so.

Now where is the fun in being rational?

I think people were disappointed with 36CU same as the Pro and the tflops numbers. Though the difference between these consoles was always going to be very less. The cpu performance is also better than expected I guess going by the 120fps gaming benchmark so far. Ironically I think the SSD which is suppose to be twice as fast than SX is probably the most disappointing part of the console. 🤡

This. Considering the artifact issue popping up and concerns about the fan and heat dissipation, it’s making me hold off until 2021 before getting a PS5.

Wish Sony would allow fan speed to be controlled by the user, so those with issues could turn it up, noise be damned.

As for the power difference between consoles, it’s there—Microsoft just needs to get their s*** together with their Dev tools. I get they’re working towards seamless PC to Xbox/Xbox to PC development...but that should have been done and baked well before now, with only nominal iterative updates necessary.

LOL, that’s some selective f****** memory right there. Sony had some gems at the end of the lifecycle, but considering the Xbox had better JRPGs (Lost Odyssey > Any PS3 RPG) and better exclusives throughout...
